We'll see. The roadmap being available now should help us judge the progress better, especially once we get closer to release. And I doubt they'd lose too much sleep over delaying it a little bit further if they really need to after the huge delay we already got.

Maybe Halo look mods for Xcom 2 are very popular so they decided to have that as part of the base game in PP :D

Backer build 2 looks pretty good from the videos so far. Except for how the Armadillo smashes through street lights and walls like they are papier mache even on a regular move and doesn't even take a scratch, that kinda undermines the physicality of the environment. XCOM2 has the same problem especially with sectopods and andromedons.
You do that in Xenonauts 2 with heavies armor for troops. It think it is cool.

It looks cool, but its not very practical in a game that relies on cover, as you end up destroying cover for your soldiers. Units like that tend to die surprisingly quickly. I like predator armor in xenonauts, but it might as well be made of tissue paper against battle rifles, which is what late game enemies tend to use. I don't want them to be unkillable, but I want the armor to stop at least a burst. Same problem with MECs, SHIVs, and SPARKS from the xcom series. I like those units as well, but they are surprisingly fragile.

Well as all these games and PP as well do not have simulated penetration mechanics.
Armor is just a value that decreases damage taken instead of a realistic penetration mechanic.

I don't like the soldier armor designs that much, but I really like the alien designs. I think they are better than xenonaut's and nuXCOM's.
I like both soldier designs and alien design that were shown on fig way better.

Nightmarish nails it, was really looking forward to that. The original vision had a strong "The Thing" vibe to it, lots of "body horror".
The new designs look more "friendly" (streamlined), more generic like Star Craft, maybe they are aiming for an age rating, they would not have achieved with the their first vision.

Oh, I wouldn't be that harsh towards them. The new designs are certainly tamer, but there's still something of an unnerving quality to them. Especially the pianist type.
Its just that they lack the sheer "what the fuck am I looking at" factor the previous ones did, and that's a bit of a let down.

I really can't understand what would be the basis for the redesign of The Siren other than purely technical one.
To me this is the most representative for the change in art direction. Where the first really has a strongly "The Thing" vibe, the second is a more mellow, almost sanitized.

The first looks like a skinned hooker with goat legs with a macabre jaw instead of a head, saggy tits covered with bloodied rags and slimy whip-like tentacles that do God's know what.

The second is more orthodox, safe and has nicer plumish tits.

Does not fucking matter if the gameplay will be good. God you people are so fucking irritating, you are acting like aliens in UFO 1994 has this great detail and not a few pixels. It was the gameplay and music that made it stand apart and become the legend.

On what page did you start reading this topic? There was a lot of shitting on PP here. Maybe not as much as some other games like PoE, SoD or TToN but you don't see representatives from those games post in those topics as well.
At some point a PR person can use his time more productively than arguing with retards that for no real reason* shit on everything your game is doing (*being bored is not a real reason).
