My face is tired

Nobody's a pathfinder until they've pathfound something

Fourteen months and you stoop to poetry. That's how bad it is.

Beautiful utopian horseshit

??

"Fourteen months" sounds like the time they developed Phoenix Point till now.

I thing JG just got MEA early access and it shocked him how shit it is. "My face is tired" is the official MEA meme.

Don't believe it? You can ask him:

We have been developing the game for 10 months now and I have a lot to talk about - however, I can't talk about everything since we are still in discussion with several parties about potential funding for the project. I will do my best to answer everything though.

Reading this thread and JG replies - I can see every reply increases his monocle and puts hats on his parrots.

god himself said said:
Phoenix Point has several standout features - such as procedurally generated aliens, large scale monsters. However, I think the biggest difference is in how the world works. Phoenix Point is definitely more 4X-like - with exploration, discovery, expansion, diplomacy. The human factions are just as important as the aliens. They have resources, tech - and secrets - which would be valuable to you. I am taking some inspiration from X-COM Apocalypse here - but applied to a world scale. The aliens and human factions would do stuff - events would happen - even if the player doesn't intervene. This is something I have been wanting to implement in a game for a long time. I am also really happy about the modern Lovecraftian vibe the writing team are creating.
:obviously:

A specific alien does not have a large number of abilities and generally the aliens will retire old versions completely before introducing new mutations. At any time there won't be a lot of different mutations around. The basic evolutionary rule the aliens use is that if a particular alien is not performing well, it will be mutated. If an alien is performing well, then more of them will be deployed - until the player figures out how to deal with them.
:obviously::obviously:

The current system we have is something a bit in between. There is an implicit AP system, but the presentation looks like the modern Firaxis XCOM with an 'action zone' and a 'dash zone'. The action zone may be bigger or smaller depending on the weapon or equipment chosen. Your moves can be interrupted on spotting an enemy or taking a hit - and you can react as you see fit. A major feature of the system that a character's 'willpower' rating gives you will points, which you spend on certain special actions. There is also a hit location system with disabling wounds to different parts of the body having different effects. This is quite cool actually - especially when you shoot an alien's gun or shield of its wounded arm.

Well... that does sound like something, alright.
But, honestly, those are just words.

I'll replace my tinfoil hat with a beer hat once something is actually shown.

Tin foil is a good approach, as from the AMA it is quite obvious they did some work on their own and now are looking for funding. So while JG always delivers - lack of funding can kill PP straight after inception.

It is unknown how much of the funding they miss, JG answered they don't rule out kickstarter.

We have been working on the game for 10 months. We have a tactical battle system working with AI and networked multiplayer. We have also started on the geoscape system. So far we have funded it ourselves, with some help from outside investors. I can't say at this stage how we are going to fund the rest of the project, but we are looking at several options.

Well they did quite well with Chaos Reborn, didn't they?

The crowd that pitched for that will probably come back for a second go, especially considering it's for such a nice game.

In particular make sure to vote 2-action system as totally unimportant.

I hope they publish the statistics publicly when they're happy.
How important is a Time Unit (Action Point) system in tactical battles instead of a 2-action system?
You read the question wrong it should be a 5 really important.

I voted 1 totally unimportant and i did read right. Same for squad size and multiplayer stuff.

The remaining things were all 4 to 5 for me, tho

Problem with this game is that by the time it comes out it will be competing with Xcom 2+expansion + mature version of LW2 based on all that.

I don't think so, more than one year after release Firaxis is still sleeping and there are no official announcements about expansions. If they keep sleeping this way we will see Phoenix point before additional Xcom 2 content.

I don't know which reason has 2k for delaying so much even a fukin teaser
