It's that time again: http://www.pcgamer.com/best-rpgs-of-all-time/

Once again, as with their last year's "best RPGs of all time" and their other best games list, they've picked ones that they think are "fun right now".

South Park: The Stick of Truth
Anachronox
Grim Dawn
Legend of Grimrock 2
Arx Fatalis
Undertale
Tyranny :M
Path of Exile
Darkest Dungeon
Mount & Blade: Warband
Neverwinter Nights 2
Gothic 2
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Pillars of Eternity
Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss
Divinity: Original Sin
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
Fallout: New Vegas

Deus Ex
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Mass Effect 2
Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Fallout 2
Baldur’s Gate 2
Planescape: Torment

For comparison, this is last year's list:

South Park: The Stick of Truth
Dungeons of Dredmor
Anachronox
Mount & Blade Warband
Legend of Grimrock 2
Torchlight 2
Arx Fatalis
Undertale
Neverwinter Nights 2
Gothic 2
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Pillars of Eternity
Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss
Divinity: Original Sin
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls

Tyranny, Grim Dawn, Path of Exile, Darkest Dungeon, and Dark Souls 3 made it in, and Dungeons of Dredmor and Torchlight 2 are out.

One problem with AD&D is that low-level characters are pretty boring. Baldur’s Gate 2 solves that problem by letting you carry over your party from the first game, or start fresh with level 7 characters. It makes a huge difference: instead of wimpy fighters and frail wizards, you get powerful, useful spells and warriors that can take a punch.

Dark Souls 1 is out.
:decline:

It is amazing how they feel obliged to add this year games to the list, no matter what. I guess they believe, if they don't add something from the current year, they will be "contrarians" and it is impossible that the year was not amazing.

This genuinely surprised me. I thought most gaming magazines were united in the thought that Fallout 3 is the best RPG ever ever. I mean, the personal story about finding your father - that can never be surpassed.

FO3 being the best rpg ever was made into truth because of Fallout New Vegas.
FO4 being the worst rpg ever was made into truth because of Fallout New Vegas.

Josh truly balances all things.

I always wonder.. How the hell are hack'n'slashes like diablo or weaboo souls always on RPG lists?
