I dunno, DLC/expansions for CK2 have added a lot, plus you do get most features through patches even without paying. I find that a pretty decent DLC policy.

Yeah, people on this forum can be so stupid about Paradox's DLC. This isn't like Dragon Age where you add some OP shit, a half-assed party member and a random dungeon. These are what used to be called expansions, in downloadable form.

I have it right under my eyes. I have 579 hours in Europea Universalis 4. I can't tell as precisely for crusader Kings 2, but it was around 100 hours, and EU3 was 100 as well. HOI 3 and Victoria 2 were around 30 hours each.
But for EU4, CK2 and EU3, most of these were spent in multiplayer, which is the only redeeming feature of these games.

Even in Multiplayer CK2 turns out to be mediocre, but EU4 and 3 are pretty good. They feel like some digital, real time boardgame, and doing diplomacy with 16 other human players is fun.
This guy is from Mars. You're more than welcome to hate the games, but I've never met an exclusively multiplayer Paradox fan. Do you guys play money games or what?

Who the hell plays multiplayer Paradox games? And moreover, who the hell thinks that's "the only redeeming feature" of them, like anyone else on the planet does that regularly?

Theres a very active MP community for all of Paradox games since they are GREAT fun when played with actually competent people. Perhaps not exclusively MP but I do play a lot of MP too.

I thought games like Magicka were meant to be played in multiplayer, although they could be enjoyed in single player play also.

If you call a bunch of small scripts a lot that is. One could confuse their ''expansions'' for a small mod, most mods actually adds more to the game than the Downloadable content. Those mods do add relevant features to the game, except said features should have been included in the base game, the vanilla version being completely lacking and a buggy frustrating mess without them.

Are you that much of a deluded fanfag that you think playing with the braindead AI is somehow better than playing with competent humans who will engage in complex diplomacy and provide a decent challenge for once?
These games are about interacting with other countries. They are completely worthless when you're the only form of advanced intelligence on the map.

I dont find the real time model conducive to MP. Theres a lot of moments where I feel its more of Starcraft lite

A revamped diplomacy with an efficiant UI could replace all the bartering in the Game Chat. The game recquires worst case around 14 CPM, which isn't even close to a real RTS and fairly manageable. The challenge is doing so while you have to convince a moronic Burgundy that they are next after France wins the war, while another moron keeps increasing to speed 5. With competent people there's less of that.

Or they could just be turn based, which would solve all the problems.

tyrannosaurus rex

I just said I've never encountered your kind before. Do you guys do like, smacktalk or what? Are you renowned for your micro across the Rhine? Do you type BOOYAH!!! when you get a Casus Belli?

The games are full of so much data, I spend half of my time paused looking at info screens.

tyrannosaurus rex have you tried Diplomacy online? It's pretty much boiled down to negotiation and betrayal.
Yeah, it definitely seems like he's swinging a golf club at baseballs and calling it a shitty bat.

Jump from the nest and give it a try. This is no SC championships, and with competent players there's not much need for talk, everyone knows which one they should fight/support and to which extent.
Of course if you're playing with morons you better play a big fat blob, which is boring as late game just devolves into blob wars.

AGEOD announced their next title is World War I so that effectively means I can ignore Paradox until Vicky 3

Hell yeah, that is awesome news. Same engine or something new? Couldn't find anything on that after a brief glance, though I did worm my way into signing up for the new Close Combat betas through their news post.

I'm not sure yet, but I'd think they will do the whole damn thing. This will be their most ambitious since Pride of Nations, easily. Here's the announcement.

Ugh if they go for all fronts they will fail. AGEOD excels at single campaigns and areas but they really fail when it comes to global strategy. At least thats my impression after PoN.

For all its faults, Pride of Nations is amazing once you get into it.

Tell me how to get turn times to last less than 5 minutes.

I haven't noticed that long of turn times. Of course, I'm doing stuff on my other screen while the game processes so I could see it being a problem if you dont.

thing is though, there have not been found any real hard evidence of norse women warriors fightning and raiding etc, just historical accounts of some battles and in folklore.

i dont doubt they could take up a sword or bow if the village where attacked, but actual raiding with the guys? i would have read about it long ago in all those Viking books i have perused thoughout my years.

Fuck Vikings. I only watch quality historical shows on The History Channel. Like Pawn Stars or Ice Road Truckers.
