It's an idea I have for an actual game, but being that I have no resources (and the idea is incredibly ambitious), I will instead let my creative juices squirt out all over the codex. Instead I propose doing a text based game with choices to replicate the idea I have.

Some things are inspired by other games, but I like to think that the gestalt is all my own. Other things are inspired by other media, for example I've read quite a bit of Scandinavian Crime Fiction.

You play as Eugene B. Beaumont. Typically referred to as Gene. You are a member of the Sons of Grigori, a one-percenter motorcycle club in Old Matapeake. A bustling harbor city. Skyscrapers, office buildings, mills. The gusto.

When riding with the gang, Eugene is known as Blood Balth (a pun steming from his middle name of Balthasar, Motorcycle Clubs love puns, I assure you.)

You will choose two traits for Gene from the list I've given. Some are incompatible obviously, so they can't be chosen together. I've put the list in the poll so vote that way. I will right out the situation and you will decide. I will then write what happens next, you decide, etc.

Gene's background will be posted first (after the voting finishes) so you understand who you are. It will also explain why he his called Blood Balth and his position in the SOGMC. All based on his traits.

As said, this game is incredibly ambitious, so the vote on traits will take some time as I have to finish constructing the workings and set up of the city of Old Matapeake. There will be factions, but factions are not all one reputation. Each individual has a reputation and they have their own viewpoints of Gene's actions. Factions do influence a person's viewpoint though, they variate from the viewpoint in certain ways that are not explicit to you, as you will not be told all the inner workings of people, nor will you be told how you have influenced someone. You will merely see that someone hates you or likes you by their actions and how they speak to you. Take note that the faction beliefs are also the beliefs of the head of said faction. They do not deviate from the faction beliefs...as they run the faction.

Expect some classic (or cliched, depending on your viewpoint) factions such as a mafia, or a rival motorcycle club. They won't be that simplistic and they will vary. I can promise you ahead of time (as I already know), that the mafia will not be Italian based. No Cosa Nostra for you.

Every so often there will be a Decision Point (this is different than the regular decisions which I will refer to as Choices), a Decision Point is a major decision and is quite important. The decision point cannot be chosen by the general masses as the Choices. Instead those who have been following and voting since the beginning get the special treat of voting (or if there is only one, choosing) which direction to go at the Decision Point. I will tell you when we are at a Decision Point. Take note that once a Decision Point has been reached, the counter starts over and if you vote from after the DP to the next, you will be one who gets to decide that DP. If no one has voted each time between DPs, then it will be an open vote like the Choices. But for that DP I will penalize you by increasing the odds on possible catastrophes. Because fuck you people if you can't pay attention each time, its not like new Choices are going to be every day. Just one of you needs to do it each time anyway.

Take note that because you choose traits for Gene that determines what choices you will be given. For example, if someone spits on Gene's shoe and he has the “short temper” trait, you will not be given a choice at that juncture because of his short temper, Gene will automatically charge and beat the shit out of the person (unless the situation has him held back by his fellow club members). If Gene is level-headed, Gene gets to choose what action to take rather than instantly charge.

The traits are all not equally represented because I have decided some combinations don't work. There are still a lot of combinations though, so don't worry about it being a BioWare choice or something.

    Traits:
Quick Witted (inventive in troubling situations)
    Short Temper (obvious)
    Level-Headed (keep your calm)
Smooth (much more likely to chat for information than beat the shit out of someone)
Violent (much more likely to beat the shit out of someone for information than chat for it)
Anxious (very nervous person. More mistakes when under pressure)

Now different actions have different chances of complications. To make sure it is random, behind the scenes I will be rolling dice. So if Gene happens to get shot in the leg and it happens to cause him to bleed out to death due to hitting an artery, there is a very slim chance of that, but it can happen and this will be represented in the game. (Note: Less dice rolling on my part, more random number generator with certain parameters. I will always choose the same numbers for the same situation, changing it, I would think would be cheating.)

I have an FAQ for you, if you have any other questions, I will add them to the FAQ:

    Is there leveling up?
-No. I decided early on that this would work through “perks.” Based on your decisions, you will get perks that will make you better/more talented at certain things. Besides perks, I suppose that oing things more will improve yourself and that will be taken into account each time that I write something.

    What about a story?
There is a story, obviously. There are many paths and the path is specific to the Codexian Gene. If this is a success, maybe I will do another one over at Iron Tower and see what decisions they make.

    Can I do anything?
Well...not anything. I refuse to allow you to start killing random people like Grand Theft Auto. But you can end up turning the story on its head. You could end up in prison and have to deal with that instead of dealing with the storyline. At worst you can die, at which the story of Gene Beaumont ends.

    What about an ending?
Well if you complete the story or do something else to end play (completing a different story depending on your choices than the set objective originally given, for example) there will be an epilogue. You'll find out how the choices you've made changed the dear city of Old Matapeake.

What if I think your idea sucks?
Then voice your opinion before I get fully geared up. If enough people do not think my idea is good enough, then I will halt production on this codexian affair, and merely continue working on it for my own enjoyment and not for public consumption.

What if I want to help?
This is a creative exercise for me. So I apologize but I do not want to compromise my ideas or change them to suit another writer. Even if my ideas suck, they are my own and it is hard for me to get in a creative mood sometimes, and this has gotten me there and I want to exploit it for as much as it is worth.

    How long will this take?
As long as you enjoy it, or as long as you don't fuck up. Obviously if you die, it's over, no restarts. So basically, it will end when you get to the end of the story or if it ends another way. My hope is that it will take at least months (see next question for schedule).

Hey, I just saw the last question and was told to see this question. Was ist schedule?
The schedule after I get this thing rolling (after the traits and background, etc. have been created), I am hoping to post a Choice and then have 3 days of voting, another day or two to write the next part of the story and thus Choice, and repeat the cycle. It's not going to be an instantaneous game. If less people take part, the voting will go faster, but I want anyone to have a chance to participate.

If this is surprisingly good, will there be a sequel?
This story in terms of my ideas for the video game is actually already a sequel. It is a sequel that is related to the first idea only through the decisions that changed Old Matapeake. Thus if this is good enough to warrant a sequel, you will instead get my first story idea, but including the consequences from this game. But the sequel would be quite some time after the first game ends. Maybe a year to work all the ideas out.

I know I may be mocked for posting this. Maybe you think its too much for me to do. But I promise that I will work my hardest to deliver. I am seriously invested in this project and want to show whether or not I actually have skills/talent. I also want to tell a great story and entertain everyone here.

Nope. It's a more serious project. Based on my ideas, if you really want to try to find it,

EDIT: I figure I'd tag it in case someone wants to come in with little ideas as to the possibilities of the game.

Update (some pre-game info to get you in the mood):

Old Matapeake is a city that was founded on the Chester River (in Maryland) in 1741. It is now present day and the city has spread from the Chester River to the Chesapeake Bay. It is the largest city on the Eastern Shore. Population of 398,075.

    Current City Demographics:
    51.86% White (European ancestry)
    22.58% Hispanic
    14.66% Asian
    10.2% Black
    0.61% Native American

    Industries:
    Shipping
    Import/Export
Steel (failing industry, deal to sell Matapeake Steel Company is in progress)
    Ship Building
    Crabbing

    Criminal Factions:
Cohen Crime Family: A Jewish mob family. Created after World War II by Jewish refugees who got in America instead of going to the new homeland of Israel. Jakov Cohen was the head of the family. They started up with help of the Philadelphia crime family faction in Baltimore. Currently the Cohen Crime Family is run by an Israeli immigrant named Avner Syrkin who was the Underboss from 1983-2000 under Tzvi Cohen (Head from 1971-1986) and Tzvi's son in law Herschel Mendel (1986-2000). After Tzvi was killed in his home, the aggressive Avner was placed in power to bring the Cohen family back into complete power over the seedy side of Old Matapeake. They specialize in ecstasy and other illegal psychoactive drugs. On the legal side, Tzvi purchased jewelry businesses around Matapeake and Maryland to add legitimate income to the Jews he employs.

Sons of Grigori Motorcycle Club: Eastern Maryland Chapter led by James Dean Rigby [called Hungry Jim due to being over 300 pounds] (born October 2, 1955). This all-white one-percenter motorcycle club started in West Virginia in the 1959 by old moonshine runners in West Virgina. The Sons of Grigori spread through the southern United States. The West Maryland chapter was started in 1971 by Butch Hayworth and included a young Hungry Jim Rigby. Hungry Jim was first given the nickname by Butch himself and in 1979, Hungry Jim introduced methamphetamine to the Chapter after riding out to West Virginia to meet the original founders after protecting Butch from a rival gang. Meth business would boom during the 1980s, and Hungry Jim became Vice-President. In 1988, Butch stepped down as President after trying to broker a peace treaty with the hispanic Los Vaqueros MC. The other members saw this as a threat their white power message, especially when after the peace treaty passed, a group of Los Vaqueros visiting from New Mexico, shot and killed five members of the Sons of Grigori. Thus, Hungry Jim became President of the SOGMC, a post he remains at presently. They partake in mainly in meth production and distribution, and prostitution. They have other activities but those are not as major. Gene Beaumont is a member of the Sons of Grigori MC.

Los Vaqueros Motorcycle Club: A typically all-hispanic (some Chapters have black members) Motorcycle Club. It began in Matamoros with the Tamaulipas Chapter in 1972. It spread throughout the 70s and 80s into California, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, other Mexican states and even more south. The Los Vaqueros Motorcycle Club chapter in Guatemala prospered once it was formed in 1980 during the Guatemalan civil war. The war then escalated and after 2 years, many Los Vaqueros left Guatemala and escaped as refugees to the United States. Many spread around the established chapters of Los Vaqueros in the United States. But one group stuck together in southern Texas and made large sums of money trafficking sex slaves from Mexico to Texas. During a bust, the leader of that small separate faction of Los Vaqueros was arrested. The other members escaped to Maryland and gathered followers among the working class and established their base in Maryland as Baltimore in 1986. In 1991, Los Vaqueros were pushed out of Baltimore by black gangs and reestablished themselves in Old Matapeake, where their rivalry with the Sons of Grigori increased greatly. The Presidente since 2007 is Cayetano Raudales, whose father Luis was one of the visiting members from New Mexico who helped kill 5 SOGMC members. He brought his 10 year old son from New Mexico, and after his father died when he was 15 in New Mexico, he took his father's bike and returned to Maryland chapter of Los Vaqueros. Violence between the two groups happens at least once a week due to this fact. Los Vaqueros MC works with the Gulf Cartel and is a major distributor of cocaine, marijuana, and heroin.

The Tonks: A street gang, more affiliated with Southern Pride movement. They are typically young “white trash” or “redneck” boys who were children and grandchildren of those who came to the suburbs and the city after corporate farming became the norm over individual family farms in the 1970s. Tonks were initially kids who would go around tormenting Old Matapeake's (at the time) 19.68% black population. By 1987, the Tonks became an official street gang. Many had grown up and introduced their children to the idea of keeping blacks out. The younger generation carried this out and nearly half of the black population in Old Matapeake had left by 1995. The Tonk gang never spread out of the Eastern Shore as most members ended up staying in the area. Most Tonks are again younger people, usually leaving the gang in their mid-twenties and ending up in the local Ku Klux Klans. They provide what older idealistic Tonks see as a mature change to their Tonk days. Others who view themselves as more rebellious types may end up in the Songs of Grigori MC. There are multiple gangs of Tonks and no one set overall leader. In Old Matapeake, there are three different Tonk gangs. They differ in aggressiveness and fanaticism. Tonk is derived from Honky Tonk, the Southern music style.
    The Old Matapeake Tonks:
    - Marshall Avenue Tonks
    - Schwarzenau Tonks (named after their neighborhood in Northeast Old Matapeake)
    - Quaker Neck Tonks (from the suburb at Quaker Neck Landing, just south of Old Matapeake.

Jopok: Group in Little Korea and other neighborhoods that are largely Korean. They rarely interact with the other factions. They have no interest in expanison and only care about protecting Koreans from abuse.

Expect some grimdark depending on how things go. A lot depends on the traits chosen. Going the violent route as some people seem to want will lead to...well...violence without a doubt.

I'm considering the poll closed, since I've worked out some more stuff, so it'll begin soon. Here's some stuff for you:

This is the county where Old Matapeake is (highlighted in red)

This is the city of Old Matapeake.
    Black Outline: City Limits
    Sky Blue: Neighborhood borders
Red Line and Color: Sons of Grigori Territory
Brown Line and Color: Los Vasqueros Territory
Purple Line and Color: Cohen crime family
    Peach Line and Color: Tonks
Yellow area: Little Korea, and mostly Korean neighborhoods
    White area: Unaffiliated neighborhoods

    Gene's background based on traits:
Fairly clever but easily prepared for a fight. Gene is 36. He grew up in Chesepiuk, the southernmost neighborhood in Old Matapeake. Grew up next to the river in a crabbing family. Father was a poor man, but a smart man who wanted his son to go to college. Gene got in some fights in school, standard protocol for some. Gene got out of Old Matapeake and went to college at College Park with a football scholarship. He was not only quick with a word but he was quick on his feet as a wide receiver. He had many rough and tumble moments with black teammates. He got in a motorcycle accident his junior year and ended up back in Matapeake being taken care of. Gene lost his hope for escape. He became angry and fought. He was incredibly aggressive and joined the Sons of Grigori at 25 and spewed forth that anger. In a brawl with Los Vaqueros members, Gene got the shit kicked out of him. His nickname of “Blood Balth” came from this event to mock him amongst his MC. This mellowed Gene and through the years he lost his anger. He became the Sergeant-at-Arms of the Sons of Grigori MC because he was smart and now would only use his violence and do what it takes for the protection of his brothers in the MC, not being reckless. He has been Sergeant-at-Arms since 34 and his first assignment was to remove the colors of the previous Sergeant-at-Arms.

The American built choppers hit the road. Hungry Jim leads as President. Behind him all follow, Elroy Perkins (Vice President) with his thick walrus mustache, riding next to Gene and his thinly buzzed blonde hair. Behind them, we see Hurricane Floyd (Road Captain), Nathan Abney (Secretary) and Garth Underwood (Treasurer) riding.

“Hungry Jim, I hear the Tonks are actin' up and getting' 'emselves kicked to shit by some Los Vaqueros spics up. Marshall Avenue boys,” Garth yelled up to the President.
“I don't wanna talk business out on the road. I'm here to clear my mind,” Hungry Jim replied.
“Well then speed on to HQ, I got some business to dicuss,” Elroy told Hungry Jim.
“Remember your place, brother. I'm goin' at my own pace,” Hungry Jim scolded.
    “Shit,” Elroy muttered.

They rode up from the peninsula and into the Old Matapeake city limits. This area is less crowded, more boats and land, less industry, though the main remaining steel mill can be seen in the distance. HQ is only about fifteen minutes away. Hungry Jim smiles as he rides through the brisk air.
People waved from time to time at the gang. Each member would smile and give a gesture to the people. Those in these parts knew who protected them.

The leaders of the Sons of Grigori MC parked their bikes and entered club headquarteres. Patchholders abound, all drinking and smoking. Some arm wrestling, but an atmosphere of friendship and camaraderie. Fights were settled and then drinking commenced. Everyone worked together nicely.

    “Now about business...” Garth started.
“Sure, lets hit the back room,” Hungry Jim replied.

They sat in the back room covered in southern rock posters and pictures of the gang through the years. Everyone sat around the room on the old couches, except for Hungry Jim who took a loveseat to himself. Not that he was that fat, but he liked the extra room, and the President gets what he wants.
“Which business first then Elroy?” Hungry Jim asked.
“Well in a month, Skynyrd is comin' to town. They personally requested us for guard duty. Can't imagine us sayin' no,” Elroysaid.
“As long as shit gets done before then, we can party out with Skynyrd. Jump on to the spics, what the fuck they doin' to the youngbloods?” Hungry Jim asked.
“Marshall Avenue Tonks are getting into shit with the spics. They don't seem to know when to quit. Vaqueros'll fuck up them kids if they don't stay away,”
“We need to take care of these fuckin' spics,” Gene replied.
“Alright, alright. Someone talk with each set of Tonks. Marshall Avenue ain't the only ones that need a talkin' to. God damn kids got a death wish or something with the shit they're doing. Y'all go out, see the Tonks and get back 'ere. We've got big shit headed into motion, if we keep the Tonks quiet, then we can get right into it. No more god damned business right now. Dis-fuckin'-smissed,” Hungry Jim explained before yelling over the rock music, “One of you bitches bring me a fuckin' Bud!”

Choice 1: Which Tonk will Gene visit?
    - Marshall Avenue Tonks (chance of encountering Los Vaqueros)
    - Schwarzenau Tonks (chance of encountering cops paid off by Cohen Family)
    - Quaker Neck Tonks (in suburb outside of Old Matapeake, less influence in city)

“Nate, come on, we're hitting Marshall Avenue,” Gene said.

    The ride goes without incident.

A group of Tonks are standing at Marshall Avenue smoking and carrying on. Gene and Nathan ride up to a dump of a building with boarded up windows and a blown-out door. Gene steps off his ride while Nathan remains seated for some time.

“I want everyone ready for a meeting in this shithole,” Gene points to the trashy building. “And I want everyone ready in five minutes. There's shit to discuss that us Sons don't appreciate.”
Nathan hops off his bike and starts to corral the youngsters outside.
“Don't get your panties in a bunch, ladies, just head inside,” Nathan said.

A large group of Tonks stand in a room and out into the hall. Inside, Gene and Nathan sit on chairs. Nathan lights a cigarette.
“Now what's this I hear about you all and the Vaqueros south a' here?” Gene questioned.
“Uh oh, Mexicans, better watch out,” someone called from the back. The room comes atwitter with speaking.
“Now who the fuck said that?” Nathan shouted out.
A young skinhead comes up to the front.
“What? I'd just hate for it to turn into a 'blood balth' up in here,” the young skinhead said (with air quotes).
