A T3 ship? The Akira is not a bad choice, at T2 Escorts are just too fragile and you should go with Cruisers since they have similar turn rates and about the same firepower, their differences became more and more apparent at higher tiers.

I do say this, at T4 (Captain) take the Intrepid, the Galaxy is just a fat whale and the Defiant simply is too fragile and at T4 you be entering on the Romulan episodes and the Warbirds just love to decloack, tractor beam and HY III in your face, the Intrepid is more nimble and have more tanking options due to science options and you can screwed up their standard tactics just using beam repulsions as it makes it impossible for them to tractor (as you repulse then out of range) and also works great against HY Plasma torpedoes since they are destructible and so are targetable (meaning they are repulsed back, I think I once killed a D'D by repulsing its own torpedoes back into its face)

Akira (heavy escort) is what you want like Drakron said. With those Lt Sci and Eng slots you'll be able to load some good healing abilities.

Also, you are cycling two tac teams on your tactical boff slots to keep your shields up, right? That's pretty much mandatory for any escort until you can get your hands on some purple conn doffs.

The Defiant at T4 is a solid ship IMO.

Not really, no ... or rather not for that series habit of throwing D'D decloaking within tractor range, even if you respond with AP:O you just break tractor and still have 3 HY Plasma Torpedoes heading your way, also Romulan Episodes require some degree of crowd control that the Defiant or the Galaxy simply cannot do.

Also there is no difference of weapon slots, the T4 Defiant is 4/2 and the T4 Intrepid is 3/3, hull is 25k vs 22.5k but shield modifier is 0.9 vs 1.3 leaving just turn rate but its 17 vs 12 and the Intrepid turns just fine for a beamboat combination.

I did it with the Sao Paulo that is better Defiant as a tac and it was harder that when I did it with a Eng on a "basic" T4 Intrepid, in fact I did the entire Rear Admiral missions on the T4 Intrepid with that Eng.

My advice is the Intrepid because its a good mix of offensive and defensive abilities.

Actually, you should resist buying any of the crap-tier ships or claiming any promotions, because this does permanent damage to your character, as you close off opportunities to gain certain things forever.

Of course, everyone always ignores me and prefers to bungle things because you can't see further than your own noses even when it's pointed out to you, so eh.

The only thing you lose is skill respecs you'd gain if you were Gold, so this is not a genuine loss.

Just check the Fleet Vault. Everything in General Equipment is meant to be taken and put to use.

Inquire Norfleet about the specific "don't touch that shit" stacks that are for Starbase construction.

A short-sighted attitude which ignores the fact that the gains get rather massive when you...acquire it by any means. And you never know. Why shoot yourself in the foot in the long-run for a completely worthless "benefit"?

Inquire Norfleet about the specific "don't touch that shit" stacks that are for Starbase construction.
Things we presently consume: Antigens, Weather Control, Terraforming, Industrial Replicators, Data Samples, and Particle Traces.
Things that are crap that you can take at will if you need them for some reason: Industrial Replicators, Data Samples, Everything Else.

Note that there is some overlap. Don't take ALL of those things. And, of course, if you plan to stick around, feel free to throw some of the stuff into the base if a project is open and needs those things and you happen to be on.

my inner munchkin demands i rerun a few ... aparently i missed accolade here and there... and i thought my inner add collected them all so far.. silly me...
For advice on how to be a complete and utter munchkin, see me. But mere accolade collection is just completionism, not munchkinism.

Don't take those doffs. They're needed as fodder for starbase projects and they're all whites (common), which means they suck at their jobs and won't be very useful for your doffing assignments. You want greens minimum with an eye towards eventually having all blues and purples. I have a shitload of extra greens so I'd be happy to share some of them with you to get you started. After you've been doffing for a while you're going to have more than you know what to do with.

The best way to quickly build up your doff roster is to do the 7-step colonial chain missions, which are found in the various map edge areas of the galaxy, like Zenas Expanse, Eridan Belt, Rolor Nebula, etc. Next time you're online go to your operations officer and start the "Resettle Colonists" mission, you'll be given 4 colonist doffs every time you run that which are needed for the colonial chains.

http://sto.gamepedia.com/Assignment_chain:_Colonization

There's a trick to these, see me or Norfleet online for more details.

Who cares? The point of those missions is to progress the chain. Disaster, Success, all the same: You move to the next stage. Pay no attention. It's not like you can do anything to affect the outcome. Besides, you should see how colonization on the Klingon side works: When you get a Failure or Disaster, SOME of them are injured and/or killed. If you succeed, THERE ARE NO SURVIVORS.

Yea, the only one that matters is the after-chain repeatable, since there a Critical Success = Purple doff.

SOMEONE has gone and shit in the pool again. Seriously, WHY would you do this? What the hell were you going to do with *4* leftover minerals? There's nothing in the game that uses that. You're just doing that to be annoying. CUT THAT SHIT OUT. If you can't afford to simply empty out your pockets, then don't do anything at all. You're not accomplishing anything except jamming the works.

Ahem, to clarify to potential newbies who did this, Norfleet is talking about our Dilithium contribution policy. Namely, you *only* contribute Dilithium in multiples of 25, so the last two digits should never be anything except 00, 25, 50 or 75.
