Pyke was interested in how they do the dynamic occlusion. He would probably like this update.

I can't figure out how they use any of those passes for occlusion. Interesting and very cool stuff they're doing with the graphics.

Uh oh, I think a lot of forum dwellers might be mad about their little secret E3 demo. "Why do games journalists get to see stuff your backers don't??"

We have a winner (Quadrone)

Only one point of grievance:
Do I understand that right? You'll be at E3 show of footage and talk to the press but all behind closed doors?
Meaning we (the fans) will get nothing out of it, neither directly or indirectly via the media?
Except for some pics of the event several weeks later?

Yep. When I said that Obsidian has slicker marketing in many respects, I was also referring to things like this. They don't let the unwashed masses see unpolished crap. Despite their frequent updates, in some ways they're more hooked into the AAA way of doing stuff.

This is how I imagine Obsidian marketing meetings going.

Thanks for drawing my attention here!

Their occlusion stuff is amazing. I honestly expected some sort of low poly cage.

In looking at their nav mesh they are being very clever with the scene layouts to limit the amount of perspective they need to 'cheat' with.

Umm....sweet? No, really it's all quite awesome. I'm still kind of upset most classes are ruined by religion....four classes are ruined by religion: chanter, monk, paladin and priest. Then you've got three additional classes on top of the religious ones that fall under the not very smart category: fighter, barbarian and ranger. So we're only left with four real class choices: Wizard, Cipher, Druid and Rogue. Then rank those four in order of awesomeness and you have: Cipher, Druid, Wizard and Rogue and that's the heart and soul of gameplay right there.....the other seven are redundant, unnecessary and overall seem like a waste of time....I hope this doesn't end up ruining the size of the game and reducing it to a game that can be blasted through in a few hours and just leaves the players feeling like well, that meh.

This does look really good. <3 It really is giving me that total old Baldurs Gate vibe but now with 21st century cool engine lighting stuff.

The only thing I dont like is the windows of the castle. Especially with the lights on it looks weird.

I love Adam. He's such a total goofball. He's like "WHADDAP PLAYA PLAYAS!!!" And then he realized like 2 seconds in that that's not who he really is and that he's more the quiet type of guy and his whole demeanor changes.

Also his hat reminds me of this guy:
