Fargo still has $100,000 he was planning to add if it doesn't reach one million. Problem solved. :smug:

How would you classify this as greed? We're still getting a game, after all. It's not being withheld from us.

Do you consider this a form of collectively funded "Chris Avellone pre-order DLC"?

The rage would cause tremors on te entire planet. I don't think it's that they *want* 2M, because the game is funded anyway. But since people are still donating, they're presenting ways of how to use the excess funds.

I dont intend to read the 15 pages so far...

Just one question to whoever read all the thread. Did anyone talked about WHY THE FUCK DO THEY NEED 450.000 DOLLARS IF THEY ARE JUST GOING TO HELP WITH DESIGN IDEAS AND DEEPEN THE LITERARY ASPECT OF IT.

Did anyone in their sane mind, thought about that? Or its just "omg omg they are building a dream team!"

Really, really want that "dumbfuck" button.

Also, re: Fargo throwing his own money in the pot. He can't. That's why he limited the Kstarter project to 900,000 because adding an additional 100,000 would be outside of kstarter. You can get your project shut down for donating to yourself. Of course, there's no stopping him from writing a friend a check for $100,000 and having them put in the donation. HINT HINT if you're reading this, Brian.

Interesting: The previous goal was 2.0 million. Therefore, bringing on Avellone is really only an extra 100,000. Though who knows what all the money is being allocated for.

Fargo set his eyes on Obsidian's Onyx engine with integrated quest and dialogue editors to cut on time and apparently, that's how much it costs to license all that crap from Obsidian. Otherwise, $2.1M is a rather arbitrary amount so I'm sure Fargo talked to Obsidian before setting that amount.

But anyway, this won't happen. Momentum has already died down.

What I really wonder is, will Codex be able to raise another 10K for the eventual MCA-Obsidian project? It sounded to me like everyone strained themselves to squeeze out what they did.

Yes, yes it will happen. Even if the momentum goes yet a bit lower it will reach 2.1 Million before the end. Simple math. Not to mention the last day were momentum WILL go drastically up.

I miss proper time stamps in ye olde Codex, showing exact seconds of posts. This "x minutes ago" bullshit is annoying.

Butthurt detected. What's it, too afraid to face the truth?

Dude, he has a point you know. Nearly every post you seem to feel the need to repeat the same line over and over: "This isn't going to happen". Stop being a fucking retard.

What truth? You are able to count, right?

You know what? Let's do math with even lower numbers.

    It's >$1'000 an hour, right? Let's count 900.
    It's ~15 days, right? Let's count 14.

    24 hours * 14 days * 900 $ = $302400

This is STILL plenty enough. This isn't higher mathematics, damnit.

Onyx? I have my doubts. Anyway, as pointed out before, the licensing cost of an engine was already included in the base $1M budget, since the plan was always to license an engine.

They don't. That's like saying because the step from 1M full funding and 1.5M Mac/Linux port is because porting costs 500K. It's not that simple. Fargo is being very careful about not promising too much for the money returned, and other than having to spend money from the total to pay Kickstarter (10%) and then the significant cost of creating the physical reward items and shipping them (so it's not like they just *get* 2.1M), the main goal of every dollar is to increase the world scope and complexity of quests.

By setting the MCA/Obsidian goal higher, he ensures that he can afford to license tools and hire MCA without it hurting other parts of the budget, and he draws in more pledges to make the game bigger. It's odd to equate this with "greed" since not a cent of it goes to Fargo, it just goes to the game's budget. Other than the base budget of $1M, none of the "goals" they've talked about are really a "we'll spend every cent above $1M on this goal", it's always "we'll make the world bigger, and additionally..."

Go ahead and play with numbers all you want to make yourself feel better. In the end, it won't matter.

I don't think you know what a retard means. Now go away.

So, I gave you mathematical. Simple, I mean dead-simple mathematical grounds on why it most probable WILL reach 2.1M and your response is that I'm playing with numbers and it won't matter?

    What?

You're right. In this case, the retard being you, I don't know what you mean. I don't know what you hope to convey either. That you're fond of looking the fool? Because you'll be left with only that feeling once this thing exceeds it's goal.

Dude, they are missing exactly 224K. Mind explaining exactly what retarded math you used to conclude they won't amass that much in 15 days?

You serious? Since when jewscience has replaced actual mathematics? Come back when your calculations aren't driven by blind faith.

Nigga please. Your mom exceeded her goal when she gave birth to you.

Mind explaining the retarded jewscience you used for clairvoyance?

If donations slow each day, then the math doesn't work, is what he's meaning. No point getting hopes too high if there's an actual possibility that they won't reach $2.1M.

Where's the greed when the people donating will get a game anyway? You call other developers/publishers 'greedy fucks' when they launch pre-orders?

is inXile forcing people to donate more than $15 dollars?

The 900,000 goal was always a barebones goal, to get a game out. You think if they asked for 2 mil from the start it would succeed? What if it fall short? They'd have to return everything and end up with nothing! Like this they secure basic funding, then work out what extra they can do for every milestone.

What about printing and manufacturing all the stuff? From this money they have to also make physical media available. Isn't it better that they have extra funding to be used for that rather than having such things being taken out of the 900,000? Sure it's not sexy to ask for more money to make physical stuff but where do people think the money for that will come from?

Actually I was just trolling. It's too easy to rile up morons just by repeating something

But that doesn't change the FACT that it won't reach $2.1M. No fucking way at this rate.
