Feargus said he loves Microsoft again, iirc. But hiring such a position for a pitch, I don't know.

Here, they actually used the term "multi-platform" in an earlier wanted ad:

New Project Indiana position: http://www.obsidian.net/jobs/open-positions/art/969-ui-artist-senior

Senior UI Artist

Obsidian Entertainment is looking for a Senior UI Artist to collaborate in the design and creation of the user interface for our next great multi-platform RPG.

This artist will be responsible for developing a ground breaking user-experience, responsibilities will include: inventing concepts, mocking up designs (static and animated), creating assets, importing them, assembling them and animating them in Unreal's UMG.

But it sure doesn't seem likely that it's anything else but Indiana. It's another senior position for an Unreal 4 game. How many games could they be building a team of seniors for?

Those are some serious requirement, they wouldn't be hiring someone like that just to put up a pitch. Gotta be Indiana.

Just because it's Unreal 4 engine doesn't mean it's Indiana though. Sure it's more likely that's it is Indiana, but it's not impossible for that ½ of a project that Feargus mentioned to use UE4 as well. After all, how many engines are there out there for developers to use unless they are given one by the publisher... And from a developing point of view, it makes sense for the company to focus on just two (or three in case Pathfinder uses something other than Unity) engines instead of having multiple engines for all the different teams they have. It's easier to shift people from one project to an another if they are familiar with the engine being used.

Seeking that position for Indiana means it's very far off, no?

I believe Feargus said they would talk about the game in early 2018 (at the earliest) which would mean a late 2018 or early/mid 2019 release date if the announcement comes later rather than sooner.

It's not uncommon for a game to initially start as a multiplatform project, only for the developers to be approached by Sony or Microsoft to make it a (timed) exclusive for their console.

Who cares, we have PoE2 coming, which is gonna be the best RPG of the century (aside from Elex). And then, another PC-focused RPG made by JES, with a historical setting.
If they want to make a multiplatform and dumbed-down game and try to get a broader audience in the meantime I'm fine with it, as long as I can also get less casual RPGs made for PC.

It's not like you can't make a proper RPG for consoles, Alpha Protocol and New Vegas proved that you can, but the audience there... let's just say that it's mostly not fit for the type of games Obsidian is making.
Should be kinda obvious at this point.
