Josh tweeted this mysterious sumo image, and then not long after that Tyranny was announced. Now we see this:

"...but it is appropriate for Tim and Leonard's game" ;)
pic is the texture for the human male in Tyranny.

Josh wouldn't/couldn't tweet/tease about Tim&Leo's game cos he's not "directly" involved & there is a publisher involved and its "their" game if anyone should be teasing its Tim/Leo.

It won't be that because we know it is an original franchise, which means it will be completely new. Also we know it is Leonard Boyarsky's "dream game" so that implies it won't be anything too bland or generic. Recently Josh Sawyer tweeted an image of a cowboy hat on the POE characters, I think that might be a hint to what this mystery game will be. About a year ago he tweeted an image of a sumo wrestler, and then a few months later Tyranny was announced with a big sumo dude being one of the body types you could choose in it. I think the same guy (Dimitri) did both images, so yeah, the cowboy hat may be a hint of something in the pipeline. Wild West RPG, perhaps? Or perhaps a post-apocalyptic RPG set out west?

Not a sumo. Tranny character creation. That is what flat skins look like.

One might think so, and yet that mesh image (yes, I know it isn't really a sumo wrestler, but that isn't the point) he tweeted from Tyranny before the game was even announced proves he knows about things that go on at Obsidian other than the projects he's involved in himself. Of course he isn't allowed to talk about these things, but you can be sure he knows things we don't. Twitter is a good potential source for new information you can pick up from freudian slips and other sorts of clues.

It depends on the publisher. Of course Josh knows what Tim and Leo are working on, but, unless the publisher is a relaxed publisher who is close with the studio and gets on well with them, he won't be able to even leak a sneak peak of it before the project is announced. Not even after. If the rumours of UE4/Triple A game are true, not even Leo and Tim are going to go around sharing sneak peaks, all of that will be left 100% to the publisher.

The only reason Sawyer posted that picture of the texture for the male human model in Tyranny is because it was published by Paradox, who is a mid-sized publisher that most likely has a relaxed/very friendly relationship with the Obsidian folks. Sawyer probably got authorization to post it as long as he didn't talk about tyranny at all. I don't think the very same situation is possible with a triple-A publisher, where the structure simply does not allow for this kind of proximity between the top people at Obsidian and the top people at the publisher. Big companies are a lot more rigid when it comes to their products. The size almost demands them to be.

Paradox announced its PDXCON2017 convention (April 13-14). Maybe they announce something relevant with Obsidian?

Paradox as publisher for PoE2, fairly obvious.

Unless Feargus seriously wants to get into publishing.

Unless Paradox was already funding PoE2 pre-fig campaign, all Feargus has to do is upload the game on steam when development is over, not a big deal.

Never trust the right thing to happen though.

That would be true if PoE2 was only coming out digitally.
But we both know that's not the case.

With Psychonauts 2 and System Shock 3, I won't be surprised if Starbreeze is Obsidian's partner for Project Indiana. Mid-sized budget with developer owning IP (and clear revenue share model) is what publisher relationship Feargus wanted, right?

That's pretty screwed up, haha.

Agreed. Those people using that quote probably don't understand the context, or know who wrote it. Such has always been the case for Mr. Sawyer. He never gets the recognition he deserves. Everyone agrees FNV is an awesome game, but if you mention the name "Josh Sawyer" to the fans, 90% of them won't have a clue who you're talking about.

It is weird how Chris Avellone vastly overshadows Josh in respect and adoration for FNV, even though his role in the game was comparatively minor. Credit is seldom given where it is most due.

It's true that outside of here people don't know much about who did what on a lot of games. On the Codex, though, (almost) everyone knows that the key minds behind New Vegas were Sawyer and Gonzalez.

Even inside here people often have no idea who was behind what; e.g. the classic "Sawyer singlehandedly worked on PoE" canard.

You can be sure F:NV had a lot to do with the massive disappointment a lot of people had for FO4. If it had just been a transition from shitty FO3 to also shitty FO4 the differences would have been negligible and everyone would have a good idea of what to expect, but F:NV screwed up everyone's expectations. Everyone who didn't understand that game was made by a different studio was expecting something on par with that, but instead they ended up with something on par with FO3 and Skyrim.

Kinda like how a lot of old timer Fallout fans must have felt back in 2008 when FO3 came out. "So Interplay is finally coming out with a new Fallout game and it is going to be in 3D?! Holy Shit! This is going to be awesome!" - and then it turns out to be Oblivion with guns.
