Nvidia Shield tablet recall due to "fire hazard"
"We are asking all users to stop using the tablet immediately."

In the unlikely event you own an Nvidia Shield tablet, you must stop using it immediately.

One of the two battery types used in the device since its launch last July has been found to be faulty.

Users must check the type of battery their device uses via its Settings menu. B01 batteries are A-OK. Y01 batteries are not.

Nvidia has issued a full recall for devices with an Y01 battery after admitting that it can "overheat and pose a fire hazard".

All affected tablets will be replaced at Nvidia's expense.

But you'll need to back up your data first. Once you send your old tablet off, it's gone for good. Activating your replacement will then remotely deactivate your original.

Digital Foundry was fairly impressed by the Shield Tablet back at its launch last summer, although Nvidia has failed to trumpet its sales since release.

"In essence, Shield Tablet is a product before its time - a well-made though not exactly beautiful slate that nonetheless has all the major foundations in place for an excellent gaming experience," Rich Leadbetter wrote in our hardware review.

"But what we need are more games tailored to the new age of mobile technology that [the graphics chip] Tegra K1 ushers in. In the meantime, Trine 2 aside - which is thankfully bundled free with the tablet - there's little in the way of software available to showcase what the Shield Tablet is truly capable of."

Imagine if AMD started making a tablet, now that would be a REAL fire hazard.

Good. I hope they also get sued up their asses.

Retards who take gaming technology further in the wrong direction should be punished.

It would never have happened with an Apple product.
The recall, that is.
:troll:

They would have just told users to not hold it like that or given a free rubber bumper case.
