Vassalization isn't a bad deal if you want a degree of independance as a Daimyo. The only drawback is your inability to conduct diplomacy with other rulers other than your own. The positive is that you get a perma-alliance and you can invoke military relief at any time defensively.

Motochika Chosokabe's position in Shikoku is well and truly fucked.

Damn that Komodo...

Sumoto has fallen to the Suzuki. We'll take it back in the future. For now, let's focus on claiming what's left of Shikoku.

Lord Motonari wasted no time, his army is making a bee line towards Oko Castle.

We can't let that happen. Activate the garrisons in Asakura and Motoyama. Seize it before the Mori Clan arrives.

The soldiers of Komodo took heavy losses despite the victory. Mori's reinforcements continue to pour in as they quickly entered the gates of Sogo and commandeer the garrison from within.

With the flashpoint being Hakuchi, a pitched battle is about to take place at the narrow pass leading to the coveted Castle.

Cannons! Fire at the gate!

It's all or nothing! Advance!

Enemy force of 4000 approaching our rear!

Turn around and fire at him!

Fuck. There's no end to them!

Despite the arrival of the two, it is clear the defenders held the advantage.

Casualties continued to mount as the defenders put up a final blockade to the tenshu.

No retreat! ADVANCE!

However, upon breaking down the last gate, the offensive has clearly lost all advantage and was greeted with even heavier firepower.

The attack collapses immediately under intense volleys.

Seeing their main offensive routed, the other two Komodo reinforcements wisely retreated.

Signal Oko Castle to commence a second attack on Hakuchi Castle.

However, this blitz is well within Motonari's calculations and his entire Shikoku garrison converged upon the Castle.

Nearly 38,000 men gathered outside Hakuchi for another dance with death.

Let them cross the stream! We must wait for an opportunity!

The defeat at Hakuchi is a massive blow to Mori's presence in Shikoku, and more bad news is not too far away.
Convinced by the Komodo Clan's victories, the Shimazu accepted them into the Coalition.

The Mori clan's two-front war nightmare is about to become a reality.

So. Hakuchi's lost. It seems I've underestimated this upstart. We're now on the defensive.

The Shimazu has accepted our offer? Well done, Ukita.

Now all that's left is to take what's left of Shikoku.

Mori's misery is now complete: a third major clan joins the Pro-Shimazu Coalition.

58 - Crumbling Might
Mori Clan's Shikoku holdings struggles to contain the losses as they await reinforcements from their mainland.

11,300 of them attempts to break the siege of Amagiri.

I'll tunnel through and open the gates from within!

The defenders were caught in a sudden rear assault as the tunnel bored directly behind the gates they were defending.

Surprise, fuckers.

We can't relax yet. Another 10,000 of Mori reinforcements is on the way!

Yamana Clan has joined the enemy coalition.

So be it. They've made a grave mistake today.

The Shimazu offensive on Suo Takamori stalled, but achieved the effect of diverting much needed Mori's troops from Shikoku.

Meanwhile, the Honganji is completely subjugated by Oda Clan.

It's time to cement our ties with the Shimazu for the sake of Shikoku's safety.

A well-calculated move, Lord Komodo.

Ukita, news of Oda's overwhelming success is worrying. I think it's time to broaden our clan's horizons.

Oda's forces lay siege to Saika Castle, Suzuki Clan's legendary stronghold. However, their supplies dwindled and they are without support in the front line.

They've also decimated the Ashikaga Shogunate. The nation is now truly free from the influence of a Shogun.

Preparations are ready.

Good. Set sail and take over Suzuki's strongholds before Oda returns with a greater force. I shall settle matters at Sumoto Castle.

You can count on me.

Excellent. With this, Shikoku is safe from any western attacks for the years to come.

The Kitabatake Clan seeks to impede our progress? How pitiful. I shall dispatch my emissary to pressure them into submission!

And with that, victory in Saika and Sumoto is assured.

60 - Interference

Having captured Sumoto, Steve Komodo's army turned its attention towards the northern conflict. A chance capture of Bessho Clan's final stronghold is too irresistible.

Elsewhere, the two last strongholds of Suzuki is under simultaneous attack.

Defeat seems inevitable. They've been truly cut off from their Mori Allies.
Amidst all this, the Komodo Daimyo decides this is the best time to begin diplomatic avenue with the Imagawa Clan.

A token gift was sent and its most skilled diplomat, Naoie Ukita corresponds monthly with the Imagawa Court.

Only one last Suzuki stronghold remains.

The wealth from the foreign trade and Shikoku enabled the Komodo Daimyo to implement an aggressive military expansion. Every month, almost half of its income goes towards its policy.

It is hoped with the enactment, the Komodo clan can close the gap with other clans in terms of troop count.

The plan to capture the Bessho Clan's was a success and Tetori Castle falls later that month.

At last, the guns of Suzuki is mine.
