25 - Hard Truths
New lands means new tribes. And the continued accumulation of new tribes are starting to bear fruit. They pay the Clan an 2,000 gold annual tribute.

01.jpg

Even the once-rebellious Sannohe has attracted more and more migrants and is ready to expand.

02.jpg

An additional Military district was proposed.
The arrival of a foster daughter presents an opportunity.

03.jpg

Harumasa Nanbu, a skillful young general is resentful of his new ruler, but his hatred will abate once he is made Kin...

04.jpg

05.jpg

06.jpg

Clan Tozawa was crushed later that month.

07.jpg

08.jpg

Hanamaki and Kusuiji now await their turn.

09.jpg

10.jpg

An additional troop was dispatched from Yokote to blockade the pass in the event of the Date Clan sending in any reinforcements.

13.jpg

They did not.

26 - Would Date Again
There are two traders' village that remain out of influence from any clan in the region.

01.jpg

The lack of strongholds near the area made it impossible to influence them. It's time to change that.
We will build a new Castle in Tokazawa.

02.jpg

03.jpg

It is a costly endeavor, but a worthwhile investment in the long run.

04.jpg

05.jpg

With the fall of the Shiba clan, only Kasai Clan stands between the Date and the Fortyseven.

06.jpg

February 1543, the construction of Tokazawa is completed. And we can now start to influence these tribes.

09.jpg

Kasai Clan receives the dreaded letter informing that their vassal status is no longer required.

10.jpg

11.jpg

I'm still keeping your daughter. :smug:

12.jpg

The Clan is blessed with another daughter.

13.jpg

14.jpg

Our incursion into Kasai Clan territory has triggered a response from the Date.

15.jpg

So be it.

The Date Clan second reinforcement of 3,000 clashes with our army.

After the great battle between two sizable army ended, the Kasai Clan had no hope of mustering any effective defense.

The Date is only too keen to cut their losses and hold perimeter defense.

28 - Shots Fired
To commit into a Date invasion, we will need a really strong momentum.
Their western front, consisting of Mamuro and Tsurugaoka has roughly 4,000 immediate garrison. However, these two castles are poorly fortified. If we can wipe the defenders, they will fall quicker to a storming siege.

01.jpg

yuri.jpg
That what are we waiting for, pops? Fite lah!
rk.jpg
However, the Eastern Date territory has 6,000 garrison from Teraike, Rifu and Koizumi. Now, that brings to a total of 10,000 troops we have to plow through.
02.jpg

omega.jpg
Yes, that's just 5 out of 18 castles they own. They still have another 30,000 reserves in their core territory. How lah?
tron.jpg
To remind that the possibility of involving a third party exists...
lund.jpg
How? The immediate clans are micro-dicks incapable of penetrating shit. Anyone remembered the Asari? The Kakizaki? The Shiba?
alk.jpg
While we cannot deny that our previous vassals have been...unhelpful in the past, the possibility of extending our diplomacy exists.
rk.jpg
How do we do that? And who do we approach for help?
tron.jpg
To have a solution ready.
03.jpg

tron.jpg
To explain that the Nagao clan owns a much smaller base, but a sizable garrison to defend itself. To state that even alone, it can still pose a challenge to Date clan.
omega.jpg
Uh, we have a problem. Our recent hostile-takeovers of former-vassals has put us in a bad light with the rest of Japan.
alk.jpg
That will not be a problem. All we need is a suitable gift to clear any misunderstanding.
04.jpg

tron.jpg
To recall Tamekata Nagao, the daimyo of the Clan is a conservative and would appreciate traditional gifts.
lund.jpg
So what? He wants a dusty war manual or something?
alk.jpg
Yes, that would be appropriate.
05.jpg

rk.jpg
I do not doubt this move, but you've not explained how we can open a diplomatic channel with a faraway Clan..
tron.jpg
To recommend the implementation of the appropriate state policies to allow such ventures. To also add the posting services with improved servers to improve diplomatic gains. To remind cost is great, but so are the benefits.
06.jpg

rk.jpg
Do it. For the rest of you, get your men ready to move out. Omega, get the roads ready for our advance. We'll smash Date clan and scalp our biggest head yet!
07.jpg

omega.jpg
Majulah Shingaporu!

A few weeks later...
08.jpg

tron.jpg
To happily state that sufficient gain has been made in improving Nagao Clan's attitude towards our diplomatic advance. To request permission to send an emissary.
rk.jpg
Send in my Civil Serpent.
09.jpg

omega.jpg
Don't worry, Ah Gong. I sure wun disappoint you one!
tron.jpg
To report that my spies have revealed the exact troop count of the Nagao's Castles closest to the borders of Date Clan.
10.jpg

rk.jpg
Looks good. And now we wait...

Later that year...
11.jpg

The death of Nagao's Clan head did not affect our diplomatic status. However, the situation has changed.
Date Clan, sensing the weakness of Nagao's new head launches an invasion into Nagao's territory.

13.jpg

14.jpg

rk.jpg
Gentlemen. It's time. Alkeides, Yuri, Lund lead the furthest garrison forward. The lesser garrisons will link up with you as you bypass them. Infinitron, recall Omega from his diplomatic mission and instruct him to join us in the field. Operation Cuck Date is a go. Carpe diem, my generals.

5,000 of Nagao Clan's army attempts to slow down the Date advance.
They did not request for reinforcements. Perhaps they themselves were unprepared for this.
Or perhaps the Date pre-empted any ideas of an alliance between the two of our Clans?
No matter. Our forces are almost ready at Isawa and Toriumi.

02.jpg

While the western advance commences with the Date clan defenders away from their castles.

03.jpg

The Nagao-Date battle begins, and it does not look good for the defenders.

04.jpg

Hopefully they can buy us more time...
The Date Clan finally realizes our intent and commits troops from Teraika to defensive action.

05.jpg

There is no way they can reinforce the Tsuru-Mamo front.

06.jpg

Nagao clan, fighting for survival throws everything into the tiny mountain pass.

07.jpg

I count at least 12,000 Nagao vs 20,000 Date samurais.
Let's give them something to cheer about.

The battle continues.

:shredder:

Repairs and upgrade were ordered for the newly captured Mamoru Castle...

04.jpg

Not sure if it's going to be completed before the next wave arrives.

LundB will have to break through Date's vassal clan territory...

Infinitron, is there any more political maneuvers we can make?
tron.jpg
To state the most powerful clan is now Hojo, they possess five-fold troop count and nearly double our castle count. To wonder if you are interested in diplomatic ventures?
02.jpg

rk.jpg
I see no benefit in serving the strong. They are our next Nanbu, eh?
omega.jpg
No! This is totally on a different scale. Nanbu is kindergarden grade. A playground fight. We're barely holding in this Date war. Please reconsider.
rk.jpg
Infinitron, gather more vassals for me. I am interested in what you call...forming a coalition.
tron.jpg
To execute your order with utmost enthusiasm.
rk.jpg
Omega. You need to replenish your garrison and move out again. Carry out developments as per instructed.
omega.jpg
Understood. I shall favor Commerce after harvest and develop the Land when harvest time approaches while ignoring the barracks expansion since we'll be emptying them constantly.
rk.jpg
Excellent. Even now our forces are making their move to subjugate Date's vassals on all fronts.
03.jpg

32 - Do it for the girls!
01.jpg

rk.jpg
I have so many daughters now, what am I gonna do about them?
omega.jpg
I don't see the harm.
rk.jpg
Then take one.
omega.jpg
Uhhh...I don't think marriages work like that.
rk.jpg
It does. Their parents gave them to me. Just to protect their clan. But they're so distant, we cannot even raise an army to help!
tron.jpg
To fail to see the problem, to have reason to fight now, no?
rk.jpg
This is all your fault, Infinitron. Argh, I'll deal with this when the war is over.
omega.jpg
That is still a long time to wait. We're making rapid gains on their castle, but I think the Nagao resistance is collapsing, Date Clan is now rerouting their troops towards Rifu and Koizumi.
02.jpg

rk.jpg
Damn it, how did they get so many men?
omega.jpg
We're starting to get hit hard on the manpower and horses.
rk.jpg
Spend some cash and buy more, we need those cavalry charge.
03.jpg

tron.jpg
To remind of the Coalition. To possess the necessary papers to form one. To ask if you wish to start one now?
rk.jpg
Sure, gimme that.
05.jpg

rk.jpg
Alright. That looks great. What benefit is this actually?
tron.jpg
To explain that as the leader of this Coalition you will now have powers to direct your coalition members to attack the common enemy.
rk.jpg
That's nice, but right now we should let Nagao try their best to survive the Date onslaught.
omega.jpg
You've got a point there, the Nagao isn't exactly in good shape. They may fall soon if we don't help.
06.jpg

rk.jpg
I don't think we can spare anything at the moment. What's the manpower situation like in our war?
tron.jpg
Date Clan has lost their numerical advantage but is slowy pushing Nagao back.

tron.jpg
To interrupt this council on sudden changes in the field...
12.jpg

rk.jpg
What the fuck is going on. Who's attacking Nagao?
tron.jpg
To apologize for this shortsightedness. To not realize inviting Nagao clan to Coalition gives Hojo Clan excuse to invade.
rk.jpg
What are you saying, I just signed their death sentence?
omega.jpg
Shit. This is bad. 20,000 Hojo troops have crossed into Nagao's borders. They will not hold.
13.jpg

rk.jpg
Fuck, what have I done?
omega.jpg
We have to focus on the Date war. How about a cease fire?
rk.jpg
No. Tell Yuri and Lund to redouble their efforts. We must not stop. Not for anything.
omega.jpg
As you wish.
tron.jpg
To recommend you take things slightly easier... the threat has not yet arrived to our doorstep. I will ... make the necessary preparations.

omega.jpg
Are you sure you want to do this? We can still send more troops.
rk.jpg
There's no way to reinforce it on time. Yasuda Castle is a dead asset. Do you really want it to fall into Hojo Clan's hand? I've instruscted them to withdraw.
tron.jpg
To see wisdom is doing so, why let the enemy have it if we had to relinquish it?
01.jpg

02.jpg

Yasuda Castle was burned to the ground. Only ashes remain.

03.jpg

tron.jpg
To regret to inform you that our diplomatic avenues with the Ouchi clan has ceased to become effective. They have recently joined the Pro-Hojo Coalion.
04.jpg

rk.jpg
Sigh. Call Alkeides back home. Is there any other way we can somehow neutralize the Hojo?
tron.jpg
May I recommend using the Imperial Court to our advantage?
rk.jpg
Isn't that station merely ceremonial? The Emperor wields no real power over Japan.
tron.jpg
To agree, but court influence can be useful in raising our status.
omega.jpg
I agree with Infinitron, our blades are outnumbered 3 to 1 but with hard work, we might be able to bind the giant with the bindings of diplomacy.
rk.jpg
Very well. Do whatever is necessary, I'm at my wit's end.

A new state policy is enacted to accord new respect towards the Imperial Court.

05.jpg

And Alkeides receives a new assignment.

06.jpg

Harvest month, a few cities suffer from poor harvest but the yield is still plenty enough for the kingdom to have no foreseeable shortage in the future.

07.jpg

rk.jpg
Seems we have a short period of quietness. A rare thing. Let's build a new fortress in our Western territory, Sakata.
omega.jpg
That's a fine idea. I'll get started on it right away.
08.jpg

rk.jpg
How are the troop movements in Hojo Clan?
omega.jpg
They're making aggressive move towards our distant vassal clans. Here's the latest report on their troop movements.
09.jpg

rk.jpg
Even their names escape me. Wait a minute. Who's attacking Date Clan? There. On their southern borders.
10.jpg

omega.jpg
Good catch, I'll have to find out what that Clan is-
11.jpg

rk.jpg
No, it's not important. What important is that it explains Date's Clan aborting their offensive. We must capitalize immediately! Tell the furthest garrison to field their troops and link up at Teraiki and Myo. We will make a push towards Koizumi and Rifu. This is our chance, Omega! We must not waste it!
12.jpg

It didn't even took a month for the bulk of the Clan's army to mobilize...
Roughly 12,000 approach the two Castles...

14.jpg

A smaller force of 2,800 from Yamagata is sent to blockade any attempt to reinforce the two castles.

15.jpg

There is no escape this time for the defenders.

When you have more units (and I mean individual units, not overall numbers) it is better to flank the enemy and fight at range. Land two releases at once and the enemy unit becomes confused.

omega.jpg
It would seem that way, but the issue is with the administration of the newly captured Castles.
rk.jpg
What's the problem?
omega.jpg
It's too far from our central of government. We'll need a regent to take care of it. I suggest we place the main headquarters at Koizumi Castle so whoever is in charge can contribute directly to the war.

To move my home base forward would mean relinquishing control of our most developed bases up north...hmm. I agree.
