"Xbox One owners are still left in the dark with any news on a No Man's Sky release. All evidence suggests that Gamescom will finally give gamers the answer they deserve, but might not necessarily want.

Sources close to Sony have confirmed that they have been in active discussion with Hello Games to acquire the studio but attempts have failed due to their difference in opinion with future of the intellectual property.

Sony had allegedly approached Hello Games shortly before their big debut in the 2013 VGA awards and negotiations had gone quite smoothly until Sony requested that No Man's Sky would be exclusively released only on PlayStation consoles. This contrasted with the developers initial plans for the game and would ultimately undo a lot of progress they had made on PC. Development initially began on PC in early 2013 and a console version was not in the plans until publisher like Sony Computer Entertainment and Microsoft started showing interest in the project.

Despite Sony not securing the developer, our sources are confident that a console exclusivity deal, similar to Transistor, has been agreed to which will guarantee that No Man's Sky will remain a console exclusive on the PlayStation. We heard that terms of deal demanded that development lead would shift to the PlayStation 4. Sean Murray of Hello Games has reportedly being working closely with Sony owned Media Molecule, though this only suggests that Hello Games are interested in working with a developer that has experience working with the PlayStation platform this certainly bodes well for the relationship between Sony and Hello Games and gives a little weight to the rumors."

Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming!
Why to play a game with billions of stars when you can have trillions of stars in Space Engine?

That's the question.

They showed it to the press i guess.

Sean Murray‏@NoMansSky
"On a flight with @davidsream and @rotational back from secret trip to Gamescom. Things happened. Tiredness ensued"

"However, Hello Games' Sean Murray has revealed an extra piece of information about No Man's Sky - it will have some kind of faction system.
Speaking to PlayStation Access in the video below, Murray revealed that if players repeatedly attack certain races or groups, then those groups will become hostile to the player.
Murray said that you won't get a big pop-up on the HUD telling you that a faction has become hostile to you, that will just naturally happened as a consequence of you being aggressive.
Conversely, if players help certain races or factions then they may help the player in turn."

Google Translator said:

"The creators of Joe Danger welcomed us during this gamescom 2014 so that we can finally see what it's like their title. Not having seen the game run long enough to get a real idea is ultimately a slew of details a little mess on the foundations of the app that was presented to us.

For the record, know qu'Hello Games, the small studio behind No Man's Sky, chose the name and logo of his game a week before the VGX, since previously called Project Skyscraper . The unstated aim of the developers is to make "the first real game of science fiction," since according to them, as a scifi has to be colorful, haunting, hopeful, and should push you to say "I 'm the edge of the galaxy, where no one has ever set foot ... what shall I do, what do I come across?" . Feeling that provides visibly No Man's Sky given the popularity of the developer.

Live your own space adventure!

After having assured that the title was very complex to present in demo, which we had not really escaped after 20 minutes of presentation a bit confused and gameplay, we finally enjoyed a short session performed during phase shown in trailer (the famous clip combining exploration and dogfight). Nothing was scripted in the words of the developers, but rather they have "forced the chance at the highest point."Understand is that each element of the game is supposed to have a particular behavior and routines are generated around the adventure the player. There are no quests at the moment, just random events where you can take advantage making useful as a fighter pilot, explorer, merchant ... You can for example take your explorer ship, destroying some enemies by going to a nearby planet, collect money, and mineral resources and, go to a resort to spend your credits and walk away with a brand new warship and refuel for a jump in the management space the edge of the universe.

A proof of concept of the sandbox in space?

This still seems to be experimental and Hello Games team were struggling to clearly explain the concept of the title. Anyway, we got to see behind the scenes with the development tools. The creation engine of the game, running through seed as a Minecraft-like, defines each planet by a numerical data, thus creating the entire environment with an algorithm that will choose randomly from the item bank each species, animal or plant, as well as elements a planet topography . We saw several deer or models of dinosaurs, in which each parameter is defined randomly, the size of the neck to the color of shoes through the shape of the ears ... Basically, from planet to planet, wildlife and flora will never be the same.

Similarly, if you explore a planet that you find fantastic, you will be able to give the seed a friend to access the same body so you can share your feedback on the exploration of the area. No details on the multiplayer yet and it will take several weeks to find out more.Always on the technical aspect of the title, we could see the rendering system scalable, real trademark of the title that impressed everyone with a trailer clip seamlessly from one planet to another . Having seen it in action with our own eyes, there is no doubt that Hello Games has a little technical gem, and is the only element which we can be really sure 200% after this session . So we await the upcoming presentations of title to learn more and, who knows, maybe one day we'll be out of this gray area surrounding the title since it was announced last year."

No Man's Sky captured the imagination of the games community when it was first revealed at VGX in December.

It captured the wallets of the press more like

As IGN puts it, since the Earth's sun will burn out in 4.6 billion years, this means that theoretically the number of planets in No Man's Sky is indeed infinite because it would be impossible for the human race to see every one.

It's theoretically 2^64 and practically infinite surely

Kind of like the amount of bribes video games journalists would be willing to take - theoretically $2^64, but unlimited in practice.

So, game will feature a bunch of redundant crap then?

Edit: How long until the codex creates a group to go pillaging and planet destroying?

Hello Games on No Man’s Sky: “You Can be Bored in This Game”

While they’ve probably already done so based on their gameplay videos and universe size, Hello Games’ Sean Murray told Develop that one of his goals with No Man’s Sky is to make AAA developers and publishers – including his previous employers, EA and Criterion – jealous of what such a small could accomplish with free reign.

Getting this ability to create the game they’ve wanted to make (No Man’s Sky was first brought up six years ago under the codename Project Skyscraper) wasn’t easy though, as it required them to first make Joe Danger:

Hopefully you can get a sense with No Man’s Sky, and what we’re trying to do is a culmination of ambition for us.
We pretty much made Joe Danger to give us the ability to make No Man’s Sky.

When it comes to No Man’s Sky, Murray does admit that there will be some boring moments since the game world is so vast:

We’re not trying to make Halo or Call of Duty. You can be bored in this game. It’s not going to be scripted. There will be space battles and dinosaurs, there’s a lot of fun to be had. But I had to do what I should do as a sci-fi explorer, I had to go out and find that, and that’s really interesting.

No Man’s Sky is expected to release in 2015, first on PlayStation 4.

It's not a kickstarter project.
