So I'm trudging through Lonesome Road, Ed-E has been acting... a bit strange. He won't fight. I don't know what the cause is exactly, but he also spends most of his time standing in one place and refusing to do anything. If he wants to talk to me about his inane backstory, he'll catch up, but otherwise nothing. My main problem is the part where you leave the Cave of the Abaddon and Rasta Prosper takes control of him. He... won't leave, and I'm stuck in cutscene mode forever. I mean, it's nice that my request for him to stay with me was heeded, but I get the feeling it wasn't supposed to be.

I've tried leaving the DLC area and going back in, tried abandoning him for three days to reset him, no luck. He follows me now (at least until combat starts), but still won't do whatever he's meant to do in the cutscene.

Anyone encountered this? I've used the enableplayercontrols console command in an attempt to just continue anyway, but it just gives me my HUD back, still can't move.

I didn't encounter anything like that.
Did you try the "disable/enable" combo in the console? (Open console, select ED-E, type disable, ED-E vanishes, directly enter enable, ED-E should be back).
Then there's the unofficial patch, if it's some known bug there might be a fix included.

Otherwise I can only think about it being some mod conflict, so you could try without mods if you use any.

Tried disabling all my mods, using the unofficial patch. Can't find anyone else who's encountered the same bug, fucking annoying. Tried disabling/enabling him and knocking him out. Even tried spawning a new copy of him, but that just fucks things up further, it doesn't really register as a companion and the dialogue on leaving the building never initiates.

And using the console to "kill" then "resurrect" him worked. Even though the kill command just knocked him out. It reset his inventory, which - since the problem seemed to stem from something fucking up with his weapon/combat mode - seems to have been key. Ah well, onward to an undoubtedly disappointing finale.

maybe its that big dick mod you have that caused it.

Most big dick mods - at least, those that modify or introduce new dialogue and skill checks - shouldn't interfere with ED-E. You may have problems with geckos, however.

There are fixes for various cutscenes, including this one, on newvegasnexus.com

This is a bug with the vanilla game as well. I think I fixed the problem by adding his default weapon via console, since when you go into a casino and they take your (and companion's) weapons, they also take ED-E's. So, after you leave they don't give back ED-E's laser and he'll refuse to fight and eventually stop following you at some point. Just in case the problem resurfaces, try this because the kill/resurrect combo worked for me only briefly.

Hey, I have a curiosity I hope you willing gentlemen are able to satisfy. The opinion about NV was varied but all seemed to agree that the DLCs sucked except for Lonesome Road - apparently, for some, the best thing since sexual tourism.
So... why is it good?

Obvious answer is "the writing", but the gameplay is very interesting if you like playing a stealth/scavenge build. If you don't, then it's awful.

Dead Bumface and Old World Jews were both pretty good. Honest Ass was boring, but not terrible, and Lonesome Bros was... there. Probably the weakest of the DLC.

Sorry I meant Dead Monies, not LR. Maybe if DorkUnderlord hadn't removed the edit feature then I wouldn't have to make this post : x
