:whatho:

With competents writers Tevinter could have been some cool mage empire with massive slave sacrifices to fuel blood magic. Think Elric: The Ruby Throne.

But with those assholes at Bioware we're gonna get SWJism and a cringy singing scene.

The only thing SJWs are capable of writing is reskins of bad Captain Planet fanfics; its how they are programmed. Go look at Andromeda and then rewatch any Captain Planet episode ... its eerie.

Inquisition was indeed terrible, but it sold well and got good reviews. They will try to learn lessons from Andromeda, but from their perspective they don't have any reason to not follow the template set out by Inquisition.

Did people actually enjoy Inquistion? The helmet hair bugs, the 15 hour story line and the shitty war table?
Just because it sold well - doesn't mean people forgot it was shit.

How many people raved about "Well Iniquistion was bad, but Mass effect is a whole other team!"

I saw that rationalization repeated ad nausea. I think people are wising up to Bioware's shit. Each game is getting worse.

I think people initially liked it to some degree but then got really bored. Its really just an MMORPG and MMORPG are really just very bad RPGs with casino mechanics to keep people addicted and stupid.

When people presented with worse shit they remember the shit as not so shit. Also I guess for this generation of gamers; bug problems > design, story, pacing problems; if it has high production quality & it is relatively bug free it won't get shit on for long other than from places like here.

I think you're confusing the communities you spend time with online with general public opinions. RPG Codex hated it. NeoGAF had a lot of people hating on it, but also a lot of people who enjoyed it a lot, and it managed to be voted the 2014 goty there despite having a bad reputation in most threads. There's a lot of people vocal about the game on the internet, but there's a silent majority who enjoyed the game but just don't care enough about it to make forum posts on that subject.

Inquisition is sitting at 88/100 on OpenCritic after 90 reviews, received over a dozen GOTY awards including from major publications like EGM / IGN / Game Informer. The user score on Metacritic is 7.4/10, because it got a ton of "0" scores from people who hated it which skewed the mean far below the more common 8 and above scores (68% of people gave it 8 or more). This isn't even taking into account that the people who give rankings on metacritic are a self selecting group of "the people who care about the game enough to track down the review aggregate and cast a vote".

While yes, I find Inquisition and Andromeda to be more or less equally awful, the general public liked Inquisition a fair bit.

Will be about 69% finished when it's forced out on the market as BioWare implodes entirely and EA goes on to find its next trick.

Has anyone ever found out why Dragon Age: Origins had such good background lore but such absolutely terrible in-game writing and dialogue?

Because the background lore was about replicating aSoIaF.

I don't recall anything like the Fade, Tevinter Imperium, Andraste, etc in ASOIAF. Besides, if that was the case, The Fade would have a refrigerator every 5 feet, courtesy of GRR Martin.

Good? I would rather say mediocre overall. Some things were and still are very good - Qunari, mystery surrounding the Maker and the Black City and so on. Rest just kind of is, and some things are sadly pure garbage - like their ideas for nations. Jesus, such blatant copy-pasting, literally no effort was put into that. Orlais = France, Ferelden = England, Tevinter = Byzantium, and so on and so forth.

Yet fact remains, their lore is much better than their writing or quests. And they managed to fuck their lore up with Inquisition quite a bit.

Worldbuilding in aSoIaF is an utter shit. Not a big deal to top it.

Yep I was wrong. I guess Bioware also didn't ripped Night's Watch, changed it a bit & called it Grey Wardens, cos the "Night's Watch" isn't in Dragon Age.

DAO was "inspired" by 80% aSoIaF & 20% LotR; should have at least stayed that way.

DA:O came out in 2009? So work on it and background lore must've started around what, 2006 or so? ASOIAF was virtually unknown beyond hardcore fantasy geeks until the HBO show which started in 2011. Stop trolling.

To create a fantasy world from scratch you have to be a hardcore fantasy geek(which you don't have to be to have had heard about aSoIaF pre-2009). Ofc Bioware writers knew about best seller by the third book(2000) aSoIaF.

Well yeah, and Dragon Age was made by hardcore fantasy geeks, until David Gayder took over.

Plus modern fantasy sucks so hard, if you had any interest in reading and didn't like lesbo shite, you pretty much read GRR Martin.

I remember them citing Martin as a reference for their politics laden too grey for school setting. And then someone made a Marilyn Manson video.

They originally planned to have mostly original races and something more different. Then they made a change in direction which coincide with when they started making comparisons to Asofai.

Without Ray and Greg I don't think bioware can pull off anything decent anymore, It does matter that they are getting more competent writers, writing was only one aspect their later games failed on.
Who is going to fix the mess they created by rush deadlines and lack of programming talent which may be caused by the lack of good hiring decisions and the political view of their staffers which
taints game development.

So anyone who reads books is a" hardcore fantasy geek"?? I think you are the one who is trolling atm.
