Used to have the same gifting crap tradition with friends, but it's kinda got old, considering 90% of steam games are degenerate nowadays and finding something decent is much more of a challenge.

They do. Most devs just opt to not have porn in the steam release because it's easier to release a game when it's not rated 18+. Many of the VNs you see on Steam are porn games but they are SFW versions with developer supplied links to a free "patch" that includes all the porn.
