My solemn thanks Vaarna, but could you organize it a bit better?

    Something like:

    By Author

    Alan Moore

    1. From Hell
    2. Watchmen
    3. ...
    Garth Ennis

    Warren Ellis

    By Genre

    Horror

    Superhero

    Silver Age

    Golden Age

    etc.

It would be great if we could have a quick index.

For instance, I loved Preacher, so naturally I'd like to read Garth Ennis' next best work (I think it's his original Hellblazer arc but w/e) then the last on his list would be generally considered his worst stuff. Or if someone really liked Horror comics, they could jump straight there and start from the top.

Your knowledge on this topic is encyclopedic, your list should reflect that. ;)

Make a suggestion, and he'll add it to the list, provided other bros can vouch for said comic. Preacher and Sandman are of course must read comics.

On a serious note, I really like (and another codexer also likes) Brubaker's run on Immortal Iron Fist.

Hmmm? I was pretty sure I wiped that one out after deciding to put in only comics I've personally read. Well then, fixing will be done as I format dat sheet for Gregz' liking.

I'll recommend Yoko Tsuno. Belgian 'sci-fi' comics, a little bit like Tintin/Spirou with asian female protagonist. Hard to find english translations possibly.

Rec 2. Storm by Don Lawrence. Later stories are kind of ass, past the initial storyline, but the artwork is always amazing. Might have some problems finding translations again.

Oh, noticed you had some Mignola rec(s). I'll recommend Fafrhd and the Gray Mouser, art by Mignola.

Anyone can recommend me something similar to ''The Mask?'' I am a big fan of The Mask (I don't hate the child friendly version, but it doesn't hold the candle on his violent counterpart).

Anyone who will mention Deadpool, I will give you back my middle finger.

Transmetropolitan has a large strain of chaos running through it. It was the second comic I had read and had the greatest emotional investment from me as it was gleeful post-Cyberpunk fun all the way. It's one of those comics you wished never ended, like Ennis' Punisher MAX.

Uh, I don't know much about comics, but I liked what I read of Cerebus the Aadvark. Also, early Bone was pretty funny, though maybe not much to the Codex's taste. Then again, maybe neither is really a "must-read".

is the best western martial arts comic ever and a standalone classic

it should be vertigo press and not marvel in the least hipsterish and more 'too fucking good for the company that okayed ultimates V3' sense

for disappointment see that Shang Chi Marvel Max travesty

then there's that John Woo Garth Ennis thing, seven sons I think, a little trite and formulatic but the chick was p. cool, but not for this list

    I dabble here and there

speaking of brubaker did anyone nominate Sleeper
because I sure as fuck am

guy delisle's Shenzen and Pyongyang are also really nice reading, like a disconnected urban fantasy of sorts

if Sandman gets in (and I don't see any reason why it shouldn't unless you're that kind of guy who says Sandman is shit mainstream banality compared to your pet indie press series fuck Neil Gaiman that fucking hack) then Lucifer should be necessary reading after that, because it is and the art is consistent to boot

(buying stuff via the above links helps us pay the hosting bills)
