Additional question; how do I see if a monster is poisoned? Light blowgun is supposed to be all about status effects but have so far not played around with paralysis/poison/sleep etc much.

You'll know a monster is poisoned when they have purple bubbles coming out of their nose/mouth. Also now since damage is show you'll see them tick for 10-20 damage.

After playing for nearly 70 hours just realized that some weapons elementals effects/afflicitons are hidden and I need some armor skill to unlock their full potantial...

Yup. Some weapons need to be awakened. Which is why

Everything I see says Nerg weps are best.

Edit: Phone fucked up and removed calculations from post. Not doing that again. :(

is not strictly true. The Bone line of SnS has very high damage and a hidden property of 300 Paralysis, which is the highest value for paralysis out of all the SnS weapons and probably the best paralysis weapon in the entire game, also making this one of the best SnS weapons. Slightly lower raw than Nergi, but when awakened the paralysis makes up for it. Also, Nergi SnS has only one level 1 deco slot whereas the Bone SnS has one level 3 deco slot, which is very important.

Damage values are important, but it's not all. Sharpness levels also give you a bonus damage modifier, which is why you should always keep your weapons sharpened at max level when possible. And as I said, decorations are also important. The Legia SnS has a relatively low raw value, but it has a natural white sharpness level, which means that it's still competitive with weapons that have slightly higher raw but only blue sharpness.

Killed Xeno. It's ogre. This is the point where I usually start hunting a shitload of monsters just to collect armor and weapons, but most of the weapons look so dull that I have no desire to do that and the Alpha sets are shit and Beta pointless because I only get Entomologist decorations so I can't make any crazy optimal armor for fun. Guess I'll go play something else until they add more monsters. Gud gaem. Not as gud as 4U though.

It needs G-rank like every other MH game without G-rank.
Weapons unfortunately probably won't be fixed until MHW2.

Joe kinda sucks. Anjanath was like a better version of him.

We'll just have to wait and see. Hopefully the dull weapons wasn't just part of the plan they had in mind when they talked about western appeal.

Old Joe sucks compared to new Anjanath. New Joe should rock just like all old monsters in MHW. I imagine new Joe will be the true menace with being completely reworked from ground up.

Odogaron just fucks up everyone. Then in HR you meet Beetlejuice.

BTW there's an Event quest for deco farming. You have to kill a G.Jagras, Dodogama and G.Girros and you'll get something around 5 decos. Takes me about 3 minutes to finish the quest, but I haven't gotten anything good out of it so it's a bit boring to do.

B52 is pure troll.

Can't wait for G-rank. From what i saw with elder dragons in MHW G-rank should be fucking mental.

----------------------------

BTW for those on PC. Citra emulation gone really well and you can now play 3DS MHXX or Generations (latest non MHW mh game). You need to play full speed i5-2500k at stock speed and chinese build of citra:

I thought Bazelgeuse got really old really fast since they used him too liberally. Should've had a rotation of different monsters show up in hunts solely for harassment, instead of one easy monster that is more of an asset than a detriment to you. This guy just gives you free breaks like nobody's business.

Yes, but also can royally fuck you up. Because motherfucker is relentless.

I was hunting Black Diablos 2 days ago with friend he shown up and for half of mission we couldn't fucking get him off our tail. So instead of hunting diablos we fucked him and then we got to diablos.

It is like best realized troll ever. But i agree it is just too common in end game. I think they will rotate him with mr. Pickle when he will come out.

------

Actually MHXX/Generations/4U has much more detailed graphics than 3DS allows for. This is MHXX at native res and 4x resolution:

Yeah, see today I booted up the game and I saw a button about a login bonus and a limited timed quest. Is that what you're talking about? Because, if yes, get your MMO shit out of my single player you faggits. :argh:

every week you get 3 limited bounties like "hunt 3 rathalos". complete all of them and you get a golden ticket that you can redeem for a high rank monster gem. It's more fun than grinding the same monster repeatedly and you get more bonus rewards.

I've completed the game recently. The best Monster hunter game IMO, a great game. Main flaws are the lack of content in comparison with prior games, and I can nitpick some little things like the lack of a cold area and things like that but I think it's meaningless. Every problem that the game has can be fixed in a revision. It's pretty curious how the Monster hunter series is the only incline franchise from Capcom nowadays, and it has been since the first game. Improving through every itineration. Well, except for the Generations/Cross ones.

The OST of this game was very mediocre to me at the beginning but has managed to grow me. A lot. I love some tracks from this game.

PD: The references in that theme to the classic rathalos one

yeah i still wonder why devs hate their own MH theme. It only plays once when you fire up dragonator in Zoras Magdaros fight. Like WTF man. When i fire up even today MHFU i get insta hyped to hunt.

I had the same experience. The Astera theme was catchy, but nothing really stood out until mid-game (end of low rank).

The Rotten Vale battle theme was the first one I really enjoyed, and it's still my favorite after finishing the game.

The Bazelgeuse and Nergigante themes are a lot of fun as well.

Ehh monster hunter depression sets in slowly.
Game is fucking great but it needs more content.
I am guessing this is how most of japanese felt back when they got non Ultimate version first.

Still 180 hours and i predict i will put another 50-60 before finally putting it down for a while.
I hope G expansion will kick ass.

90~ hours was as much fun as I was able to get out of the game. Tried some of the tempered monsters but grinding for tempered investigations was complete cancer and they weren't that much harder to hunt so meh.

I've just realized how pissed I'm going to be when (not if, because why even hope) the PC comes out and I have to start all over again because there's no save/progress transfer. :mixedemotions:
