That's pretty clever of Matt, making it seem like he's not really J_C and just trolling the Codex.

Regardless, we know he reads our stuff, so it would be really cool if he scored an interview with any of the four founders of GarageGames, I'm sure they have some interesting stories to tell about Dynamix (of Tribes 1+2 fame) having the successful studio closed and striking it out on their own, only to never get their new game off the ground.

The reason why I don't mind his humor even if it's probably a bit awkward at times is that he isn't trying hard to be funny, he is just trying to be affable.

Honestly, if all the other videogame vloggers and game journalists acted like class acts like him and put their swollen egos aside the medium would be far better. Between douchey people like Jim Sterling, Angry Joe and the AVGN (and his SHIT SHIT SHIT FUCK FUCK FUUUCK!) and Matt I'll take the latter any day. The only one I wouldn't be embarrassed to watch with family members.

J and M are close together on the keyboard, pretty sure he just hit J accidentally.

It's not the case at all on the on-screen Xbox 360 keyboard. Not to mention that it's written exactly the same. Also Matt always inserts little references and in-jokes in his videos. There's no way this was an innocent misspelling.

He fucked up big time in Daggerfall retrospective. People who saw that video now think that Daggerfall had a really shitty control scheme. Why? Only because he misrepresented the game for a bullshit reason. He just should stay the fuck away from old games, I think, or do them after he consults with long time fans to make sure he doesn't get very basic facts wrong.

The fact that he gets most newer games on Xbox is pretty telling.

The show isn't perfect, but the bitching about it shows how people will bitch over anything. I mean, the guy spends his free time contacting and conducting interviews with both obscure and "big" game development people, and people will complain that he asks for donations. Really? I'm sure he enjoys doing it, but I don't think it's any problem that he asks for donations for the time he spends on the show since I highly doubt the ad revenue amounts to more than beer money. That is, if the show is even monetized outside of donations (can't tell - adblocker).

I don't personally care for most of the retrospectives, since they're more like "watch the first 30 minutes of the game, including character creation/cutscenes" and he usually comes across like he has no idea how to play the games, but the interviews are pretty cool.

The J_C name thing in the Amalur video was pretty funny. I disagree that it's the second coming of RPGs, but whatever. If J_C is Matt Barton he should just admit it, but if he isn't, the real Matt should identify himself (you know he has an account here )
