True. The problem DAoC had is that the PvP started way too late into gameplay for me to really want to make the effort.

You could get a Shadowbane character from 1-max in less than 2 days if you knew the right people!

That is what made me stop playing Guild Wars, cbf playing thier shitty singleplayer to unlock all the abilities etc. to play PvP properly.

Can't you just unlock the skill with balthazar points or something?

I don't think that existed when I played (near release).

AFAIK it didn't exist back then. Now you can unlock skills by getting them in pve or by buying them with balthazar faction points, which you get through pvping mostly.
But to unlock every skill, item, hero etc with balth factions you need like ~2 mln points

I'm not much of a team player anyway, the idea of group based builds and doing your little part is not very exciting to me now.

Yeah, the only type of PvP that caters to the solo artist is world-PvP (dueling excluded because dueling is for sissies).

Too bad we're already seeing the end of world pvp in mainstream MMORPGs

What a creative and original concept. Nevertheless, it is a good tool for organizing groups of people for news and updates.

I hate the usage of "lol"

By the way, your "preview" of GW2 was anything but spot-on, take a moment and maybe read up on something else than a mini QA if you actually feel bothered to write something. You make legitimate complaints fairly often but the whole GW2 thing was worthy of an IGN journalist. Can't say I'm a "fanboy" of the "series" but it was just jarringly inaccurate and unresearched, if you want to maintain an air of legitimacy in your claims you want to avoid such things.
