update 5: old foes
What do we have here? A bonus screenshot of my witch in action for dear Sov. She has zombie minions made of flesh and herself is a blood mage. She's powerful.
But let's get back to our game. Our latest level is used to get Heart of the Gladiator, how can I resist? In total it adds 45 life and 6% added physical damage.
We return to the Submerged Passage except that with a new LP episode it's a new instance full again of enemies. I realize we are lvl 8 in a lvl 5 area, yikes.
We find the Flooded Depths, finally. If the Dweller of the Deep is also lvl 5, I'm afraid he's going to go extinct soon.
We have to make this interesting, how about aggroing as many of them as possible to follow me?
The result is half a mana pool spent and no life lost. That's what our new 6.5 life regen/sec does.
Interesting skill, god knows this LP is shit without new skills every update.
More aggroing as I just storm through the level without really trying to kill everything.
Easy. Those dead bodies are almost lined up in a pleasant pattern. Well I am an artist.
Ah finally, The Deep Dweller. He looks like a giant.. enemy crab. His weakness must be fire.
I wished I did use fire properly because he took off his carapace and whipped out his 2nd life bar. On average each life took about 3 hits.
And all he was guarding were a lot of crappy items. I almost feel bad for killing him, almost. Actually 1 item interested me, I pick up the ringmail vest to replace my aging armor.
This vest adds to my energy shield, and again, I get more rarity. I'm getting lucky with the mods, wish I got lucky with the items too.
I pick up the rest and backtrack to that Ledge exit. What will await us?
A Ledge basically, hmm. Maybe it's a metaphorical ledge, a place where one stands to see deep into the horizon. Probably just a ledge ledge actually.
And what do we have here? Good old skeletons. Just one, actually, it's easy.
Skeleton archers appear, didn't see that coming.
Because of their annoying ranged attacks, they keep pulling me into fights I don't want to be a part of. This was literally 2 seconds later. Or metaphorically.
Monster variety done right. They have succeeded in making me chug a few potions, and gain a level. That last one is entirely of their own making.
This is a big level because we need to aim for a new long term goal. What shall we take, Butchery?
More life regeneration? That would be too easy. It's also about 40 levels away.
Ah skull cracking. I find the undefined benefits of this skill choice very satisfying from a role playing point of view.
Really, there were too many choices. On the way to becoming a crack skull cracker, we first take Diamond Skin, it's convenient, and girls love diamonds.
We also backtrack a bit to go to town and sell our loot and get our quest reward.
This time our reward is actually a skill point, which we use for +7% fire resistance. I guess in the Ledge, you sometimes have to go backwards to go forward.
We continue on our journey and get caught up in some serious conflicts.
The skeleton archers go down easily of course but they fucking hurt. Ow. It also helps to be in a lvl 8 area.
Really an individual archer is a lot like a small problem we may have, he may be prickly but alone he's no threat. It's only when we have many small problems bothering us for an extended period of time that you start to make errors. To overcome, we must challenge these problems at their earliest. I guess the Ledge is metaphorical after all.
By what may be more than coincidence, we come to the end of our journey at the entrance of the Rocky Climb. Maybe a Sisyphean task awaits us?
This new area brings back the skeleton archers and some new enemies in these felines.
They also have goatmen, an old foe for Titan Quest veterans as they look suspiciously a lot like satyrs.
But really, our labours are over. Our oldest foes are not giant enemy crabs, skeleton archers or even satyrs, but ourselves.
Armed with the wisdom gained from the Metaphysical Ledge, we steel ourselves for the dangers to come, confident in our eventual victory. We also realize we couldn't cast Glacial Hammer because we forgot to equip it.

I also discovered that the excellent PoE website allows me to link Hongda's skill tree to all of you. I encourage you to check it out, especially for those living vicariously through me, as every skill is described in detail. Go on and tell me what to pick!
