The scissors seem pretty difficult to retrieve in our current state and without light, but the drawers seem quite suspicious, similar to the garbage bag incident - some kind of indication or transposition of another time and place. But then, how do we expect to leave? Were the doors never locked, since we were tied up?

Handling sharp things in the dark sound bad idea even if it's cursed hospital.

I would like to point out something.

The first time the garbage bin was the anomaly, and it is where it stood that Uehara died.

This time, it's the drawer. It is likely that it denotes yet another place of murder/death. Perhaps this is the place where Amanozaki died.

In any case, I feel it would be wise to move away from the drawer, at the very least. It will probably attract some sort of trouble, and we would not want to impale ourselves on its sharp parts, would we?

If we call out to someone, they will come in and die and it will be another murder we are accused of. Since you bros want to try the good behavior thing, I think E might be the best option. If it doesn't get us killed that is...

And probably now is the moment that Amazonaki was killed, per the time warp theory, and we are present on the scene, better avoid being in contact with anything that can be used to cut someone's throath, so let's do nothing, let'see if in this way we can undo her death.

So now I've gotten back to the PC and I've finally listened to about 15 seconds of the track in the update before killing the tab. My lights are now on.

You close your eyes, treating the whimpers as just noise. Trying to treat them as just noise.

The croaking starts to wander.

Left… then right… louder, then softer.

A light scuttling accompanies it. As if the sound is being made by someone – something – crawling about the room.

Your eyes tightly shut, you feel sweat begin to gather in your palms.

It’s nothing.

They’re just noises. I need to stay calm.

Cold, clammy fingers wrap around your left ankle.

The door is flung open. The lights flicker on.

The icy fingers melt away, as if they were never there. Perhaps they never were.

Mori is standing in the doorway, swaying unsteadily from side to side. His eyes are wild and sunken, his lips pale. There is a large chef’s knife in his left hand. The blade of the knife is stained with drying blood. In his right hand is a snub-nosed revolver. He steps into the room, breathing heavily. He seems uncertain on his feet – even wobbly – you have never seen the man so uncontrolled before. You shrink back as he closes in, looming over you.

“M-Mori… san?”

Grabbing your shoulder, he turns you around roughly, pinning you down. Before you can cry out or struggle, you can feel the cool metal surface of the knife pressing against your wrists. The plastic cuffs fall away. At the same time, Mori flops on top of you, his heavy body pressing you against the floor even further. The pistol in his hand clatters to the ground.

“Mori-san!” You squeeze and wriggle your way out from under him, inching away as fast as you can – your legs are still tied up. Righting your spectacles, you see that Mori is unmoving, lying face-down on the tiles. As you tentatively reach out to touch him, you notice that your hand is covered in blood. Mori groans, stirring. Placing his left hand shakily on the floor, he throws himself around with a grunt of effort and backs up until the wall is supporting his back. His trenchcoat has fallen open, and beneath it you see a terrible, jagged wound has gouged up a good part of his chest. The open wound glistens blackly with dried blood, though fresh red blood oozes out with every beat of his heart.

“Shi… Shinoseki…” he mutters weakly, dropping the knife.

“Mori-san… what… just what happened?”

With trembling fingers, he reaches into his coat, plucking out a cigarette and a lighter. “Find… Mitsu… no, Iwano…” He takes a drag and coughs heavily, his normally piercing eyes pointed at vacant space – he is not looking at you at all. “Protect… please…” he mumbles, as his breathing slows down. His ravaged chest rises and falls twice more before it finally stops. His head lolls forward. The cigarette falls from his lips, dousing itself with a hiss in the blood from his wounds.

Mori is dead.

You fall back in shock. Just what is going on out there? Then, you notice something else that is out of place.

Amanozaki’s corpse.

The white cloth has fallen off during that period of darkness. Her face is turned in your direction, her dead eyes magnified unnervingly by her thick glasses to the extent that you can see sickly yellow creeping in around the sides of her sclera. One thin hand is stretched out towards you, fingers locked into a disconcerting, claw-like position.

Rigor mortis? Or could the body have been accidentally moved just now when Mori came in? Perhaps someone did it during the dark as a prank.

Multiple possibilities pass through your mind, but at this point you are certain of one thing. You really do not feel like staying in this particular room any longer. Shakily, you take the knife and saw away at the cuffs around your feet. Once you are free, you finally stand up. When you do so, a stinging pain shoots up your left shin. You sink to your knees from the unexpected pain. You pull up the hem of your jeans with a nervous twitch.

There appears to be a bruise that looks like a handprint wrapped around your left ankle. It is a dark purple and the borders indistinct, but nevertheless, it looks like the mark of a hand to you. As you stare at it, the edges of the imprint appear to smoke and curl, blooming under your skin.

You rub your eyes.

The mark appears normal again. Except… did it spread slightly?

Sweating heavily, you try to calm yourself down. Mori is now dead, attacked by some unknown assailant. Whatever the form of the danger stalking this hospital, it appears to be on the move. You cast a glance at Mori’s body. Although you are loathe to do so, you should probably search it for some clues. Fighting against your fear, you pull his coat aside.

It is a mess. You are only able to salvage a torn up page, the only thing left of a mangled notebook in Mori’s possession.

Investigation notes for Ikei Hospital disappearances in October 2012.

12 people reported to be missing in the span of a single day, all related in some way to Ikei Medical University Hospital.

Further investigation shows that missing persons cases in the Greater Tokyo Area have slightly risen since then, compared to a falling national average. This may be even more serious than we first expected.

The Shinohara family is hiding something. I’m sure of it.

The lights go out again. The floor trembles. The shelves rattle, shaking precariously. An earthquake?

You hear a sharp hiss of breath that does not belong to you and look around wildly in a panic. There is no other sound that follows. You are still here alone, with two dead people.

But perhaps you should get a move on.

A. You pick up the knife for self-defense.

B. You pick up Mori’s gun. There’s something about it that feels familiar to you.

C. Why don’t you take both?

D. You’re probably more likely to hurt yourself. You take neither.

You hobble out of the small office – the bruise is hurting you more than you expected, sending waves of pain up your leg with every step. The cafeteria is dark and empty, dimly lit only by the pale emergency bulbs set into the ceiling. Small blood stains mark the floor at irregular intervals, weaving a path towards the office you had just exited; probably that is Mori’s blood. You leave the cafeteria, making your way towards the main lobby.

As you reach the reception area, a scream – a woman’s scream – echoes throughout the hospital.

It seems to have come from the lower levels.

A. You head down the stairs. It could be Maeda, Okuyama or Kayano… they might need your help. You don’t think you want to see anyone else die. They might also be able to help you out in return.

B. You head up the stairs and go for the connecting bridge to the physiotherapy building. You have the passcode now – you’ll be able to escape the main building. Who knows, some of the others might have gone there too.

C. You climb up all the way to the top floor and try to break open the door to the roof. That’s one of the last places in this hospital that haven’t been investigated… there could be a way out up on the roof.
