In this thread I am giving small bits of info about the gameworld, its inhabitants and enviroments, aswell as the history of some places. I am trying to post an update here once a week, but don't nail me on it - if there's a delay, then the next update will be bigger.

It is also a reminder of how far we are in terms of progress on the game - I will update certain graphics each week for you to see.

None of these small bits are spoilering in any case, so don't worry you can read all of them - they are just here to give you a sense how the Fallout setting looks like many years before Fallout 1 and thousands of miles to the east (in Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin).

To get the ball rolling why don't we talk about the different areas and themes we have in the game?

At the start of the game, you have no idea where exactly you are. You will need a skilled person to draw a map for you, in order you want to leave that place and explore more. There are people who know what they are doing and know their surrounding, and there are people who draw such "maps" for you to get something to eat and bullshit you. Depending which maps you get, you get different world map results. :)

Anyhow, this is a good moment to show one of the many ingame overland-maps:

As you can tell, this probably is quite a bad illustration how the world in ~ 2110 looks like, eh? There are few people knowing their surroundings, this is one of them, probably one of the useless "oldies" relying too much on prewar knowledge. This map is also a reminder of what locations are already done yet. (and are perfectly playable from start to end) ;)

It is however how the size the worldmap will be, it involves 4-5 (prewar) states of the US and in Fallout terms quite a few commonwealths. Though, after the war everything changed and we have different "themes" going on. :)

In the southwest, the area the kind mapper gave some names for, we were kind of sparsed of the nuclear fire. However, there is lots of rain going on and the locals suffer from the radiated death it brings to them.

The Southeast of the map was swampy before, it became now even more swampy with surprises in it.

The Northeastern area of Lake Michigan is a frozen wasteland as we are still at the end of the nuclear winter - not a good place to visit. Expect lots of snow and radiated death from above.

The Northwestern area of the above map? No one knows for sure, as there is a huge divide between the northwestern and southwestern part. You will have to see ingame!

Next, we will have some "did you know?" pieces about the gameworld from assorted NPC! And we will have some better hints of the gameworld, or how fucking retarded that mapper was not to show more safe routes and roads to havens.
