Tacticular Cancer: We'll have your balls

  1. Having trouble staying logged in? Note: We are rpgcodex.NET not .COM. Trying to login via .com will cause issues. Make sure you are on rpgcodex.net to login and all will be fine.

And if the Password Recovery doesn't work (there was an error transitioning accounts during the upgrade), use the "contact us" link right down the bottom right of the forums and harass us about it. Include your account name and its e-mail address (or whatever parts of it you remember).

"This message is awaiting moderator approval": All new users must pass through our moderation queue before they will be able to post normally. Until your account has "passed" your posts will only be visible to yourself (and moderators) until they are approved. Give us a week to get around to approving / deleting / ignoring your mundane opinion on crap before hassling us about it. Once you have passed the moderation period (think of it as a test), you will be able to post normally, just like all the other retards.

Looking for a MUD/MMORPG/etc. that meets these prerequisites.

1- Mandatory PvP environment. Servers with non-pvp or pvp-lite modes are separated from hardcore-pvp server.

2- Harsh deaths, which can result in you losing EXP/Levels, equipment, etc.

3- Relatively cheap to play (cheaper than WoW). Doesn't need to be free.

4- Grinding is not dip-shit mode ala WoW.

    EDIT:

5- Botters are not a huge issue (don't cripple the economy too much)

Hell, us KWAs can play that MMORPG for free just by being in the wrong neighborhood.

    Salem?

    1) PvP everywhere.
    2) Can inflict Permadeath, with a skill that you can learn within three days. Knock-out skills within a day.
    3) F2P
    4) There is a bit of grind. But it's the kind of grind where under 10 hours in you can contribute as a villager, even though you won't be highly valued. Hell, 2 hours in with foraging you can make rudimentary foods for the rest of the village.
    5) Not yet, but economy is generally village centric.

I dont think any company is willing to commit suicide by doing that Grampa DrafoFireheart ... UO was ages ago, before WoW launch.

Serious, you are not getting things as ... oh wait, perhaps EVE is like that, enjoy the nonocle and the DORAMA.

Well I dont know EVE beyond a few things, some of the things he is asking are pretty much gone, like harsh deaths that are gone because it completely fucks ups Raid mechanics or should I say, they would have to balance Raids and bosses so death is more that a cooldown timer.

Also mandatory PvP environment is downright retarded ... well more like it ignores the basic human nature of being assholes, considering catering to the PvP crowd is a pointless endeavor nobody does it, add harsh death as we get something is just looks fucking stupid to anyone with a half a brain cell as its pretty much adding insult (loss of time) to injury (ganking).

I know that perhaps I am insulting the "Codex MMO Creed" but he is pretty much asking for UO or EQ design mentality and those days are long gone.

If you want to try something 'a bit' different...

1- No restrictions. You get a substantial amount of experience(proportional to your victims level) from player kills.
2- When you get killed by players or creatures in combat, your character gets deleted. If it happens out of combat(falling to your death, drowning, generic dm dickery), you just lose some experience.
    3- Free.
4- If you aren't an explorer type it can get repetitive pretty fast.
5- There's no economy to speak of. Only some houses trying to wipe out each other.

    You guessed it, it's a mud :o
Needs an account, there's a client on the page so don't bother with ports.

Play UO on a pre Age of Shadows server. It's free.
