I don't care, but it's like he's getting a bit retarded over the years. At least he has still some grip on reality, unlike Stallman.

NVIDIA has been considered as the most "linux friendly" company. After all, they did a lot of shit to get their drivers working on a broken operating system, so lunix could have access to the same hardware features as Windows 95. What involved building workarounds to get over that all retarded shit from the system clusterfuck core components.

A short, but interesting article concerning the grimdark history of linux graphics.

I hope Wayland wll bring some advancements there, but for now X11 is working well enough, I guess.

As for Thorvalds raging, might have to do with NVidia's refusal to go open source or help with the development of open source drivers.

And the sound of thousands of neckbeards jizzing over themselves was heard at that time. Revitalized by this morsel their overlord threw at them they once again spread to whine everywhere about how games don't work on Linux and how everything should be open source because.

It might be worth reflecting that this group was originally created
back in September of 1987 and has exchanged over 1200 messages. The
original announcement for the group called for an all inclusive
discussion ranging from the writings of Gibson and Vinge and movies
like Bladerunner to real world things like Brands' description of the
work being done at the MIT Media Lab. It was meant as a haven for
people with vision of this scope. If you want to create a haven for
people with narrower visions, feel free. But I feel sad for anyone
who thinks that alt.cyberpunk is such a monstrous group that it is in

Writers who use a computer swear to its liberating power in tones that bear
witness to the apocalyptic power of a new divinity. Their conviction results
from something deeper than mere gratitude for the computer's conveniences.
Every new medium of writing brings about new intensities of religious belief
and new schisms among believers. In the 16th century the printed book helped
make possible the split between Catholics and Protestants. In the 20th
century this history of tragedy and triumph is repeating itself as a farce.
Those who worship the Apple computer and those who put their faith in the IBM
PC are equally convinced that the other camp is damned or deluded. Each cult
holds in contempt the rituals and the laws of the other. Each thinks that it
is itself the one hope for salvation.

Nothing, amd supports the open source driver by laying out public specifications and being open to questions.

It's one guy from amd working on them. Or did you mean they don't work for you? I have a ancient mobility 4570 and admittedly use the closed source driver for their superior power saving, but have used the open source drivers before and will again (since amd already said "fuck you" to this old chip) - by the way; that's the best thing about maintained open source drivers: you can just not upgrade the hardware if you don't need to after the software moves on.

Why anybody would want to work with Torvalds? He has little or no influence over design & implementation, he's just one of the drones. Except he's kind of celebrite in this fap- circle. If a company wanted to "work with linux development staff", then... well, now you see why the system has 1% on desktops.

Considering nVidia is siding with the OnLive and cloud always online DRM money-grubbing scheme, I have to share the same opinion of Linus on it but for different reasons.

    That is bullshit.
The only reason nvidia started getting working drivers on linux was because of cuda.
That was why they didn't care shit about optimus on linux. It was a bitch to get it working on a friend's laptop.

how's your OS development going drog?

    btw, sup?

yeah... you're right, it's not as if he knows the kernel inside out or has any control over it... yeah...
