AQUA VITAE

Drip, Drop.

Shining pillars breach the clouds where gem-alloy towertops catch the light. Below, a chaotic network of causeways and platforms shelled a cyclopean structure, irregular in its architecture and sporting, where they can be seen, devices ranging from sun-dials to telescopes to stone-crafted and crystal embedded models of the solar-system. Strangely placed mirrors and gems focused light in obscure directions and accentuated the haphazard, but awesome sight. Further below a vast wall encircles the structure and the sunken gardens beneath it and the sea crashes against and flows through aqueducts and over constructed waterfalls into the swamps below. Here, the water eddies and flowes inbetween the gardens and into pipes -organised into something like the ambix's and cucurbit's of an alchemists lab, which, flowing under the crawling muck that lay over the imbued glass floor of the city and snaking a way to its heart, twist into a hermetical maze finishing into a tap positioned in a dank mirrored cavern. Underneath the tap water pools, swirling around a tiny crack in the black glass floor of the chamber and seeping down through that break in the obsidian the water emerges finally as a drip on the roof of another cavern. Underneath, dimly lit, is the wet whimpering form of an ape-man in chains.

Drip, Drop.
