Actually, that "game over screen" was shamelessly taken from SMT:Nocturne...
In Persona 4 there are multiple game overs sequences for failed quest objectives and falling in combat takes you to an abandoned Velvet Room.

Normally the "eat it" option will boost your social links, but play out the same as the other two.
And I pretty much always intended to give that update a troll game over screen.

I definitely agree though, the dungeons always got in the way of enjoying the writing.
I'll avoid harping about them again before I start to sound like a broken record, honestly this game would be next to perfect if they made the dungeons far more interesting *hint hint*

Being a few hours into Nocturne hard mode, I'm already well-acquainted with that fucking angel screen. Fuckity fuck.

She makes deliveries nearly anywhere and it's a bit of a running gag...
This is one of the instances where they ordered Chinese in the anime.

In the anime this is also where we are introduced to Konishi Naoki.

If you want an opinion on the anime... They do a pretty good job presenting the main story events and objectives and their solutions...
Unfortunately the Social Links really suffer from their approach and the ending (episodes 22-25, inclusive) was in my opinion rather hamfisted.
All in all, it's good for what it is.

First order of business, Buying more goodies!
The Power Belt Combo is 2 Herbal Pills (probably a restorative) and a Power Belt accessory.
It probably adds 2 or 3 to the equipped character's strength, but we've got better ones to wear...
The second combo is a Huge Fish with 4 ice cubes, the former can be used to heal the whole party in extreme situations and the latter I think deals a fixed amount of ice damage to a target.
We'll get more use out of the latter.
Sides, I mostly want the prize stickers.

It's a pretty big trope in their media though, especially those that can essentially be summed up with the term "harem."

Ok so after reading a few pages I decided to play through Persona 4 and really enjoyed it despite it's flaws (part of that is probably due to me cheating on the emulator I was playing through so I didn't have to grind).

I also played through Catherine and enjoyed that a lot even though it was too short and I'd have preferred a greater focus on the social part of it.

I'm playing though 3 FES right now and it seems that the plot and characters are less wacky which is good.

I think it'd be great if Persona 5 could maybe give us college students instead of high school kids. Or hell even go the Catherine route and have you playing full adults although that might not be ok for Japs because then you'd have too give too much freedom in the social part.

Also holy shit do Japs go to school a lot.

Take an Engineering Major, have no time for anything but studying, let alone saving the world, have a decently paying job and a sense of self satisfaction when you graduate but potentially no world to enjoy it in.
OR
Take a Liberal Arts Major, have nothing but free time to grind dungeons and save the world if you don't spend it all drinking, but once you've saved it graduate with no job prospects and no real skills except beating monsters over the head with golf clubs.

1) a PC port (because fuck Microsoft, Sony and their respective fanboys)
2) Significantly more interesting dungeons (P4's really was a boring slog)
3) characters who didn't treat perception as a dump stat.
