(Now I will skip an event with Aruruw since nothing happens, just her being still a bit scared of him or something)
Next stop the
FIELDS
Yes. If we do that, we can use not just this field, but that one over there.
Oh, I see.
(It seems most of this area is squared away. So now...)
...
Hm?
What's wrong, BigBro?
Hm? Oh, nothing...just...for a second there...
(It just seemed like...someone was watching me. Was it my imagination?)
Then, I'm counting on you.
Ah, leave it tome.
Everyone, after that, do this one over here!
[People] -Alright...
(Now, next
)
...
...?
(Is it truly my imagination? I swear someone's been watching me.)
...
Aruruw?
Uu
~
......What was that about?
….
…..
(Time passes)
(Is it that time,already?)
Here,wipe your sweat with this.
Ah, thank you.
Everyone else, too.
Uu -Thanks a bunch.
Yaa -Thankya.
Taa- T-thank you...
Oh? Where is Aruruw?
Aruruw, don't mess around. Come on, it's lunch time.
Mm.
Bwahahaha. She seems interested. I'll show her how it's done.
Eh?
But as soon as OldMan stands up, the mororo pops out of the ground.
There's a bunch of smaller mororo linked together.
Wow
Whoa.
How's that for a mororo?
What, you didn't think we could do it, Eruruw?
Oh...no! Only...I...because
Bwahahahaha!
Bwahahahaha! So, you think better of me now?
What are you saying? Isn't it because of Hakuoro?
Erk Hey now, can't you give me a little credit every now and then?
(Yeah...we all really worked together, didn't we?)
(The soil wouldn't grow crops properly, yet they still put up with all of my advice.)
(It's because of all our work...)
Ah, no, that's a little troubling.
(Just a little more. A little more and we can harvest.)
(Just a little longer
)
…
…
…..
….
While washing my face in the morning, there was a big fuss.
What is it, OldMan? You're pretty worked up.
No time, just come on!
?
What enters my vision...
It's enough to work any one up. Our fields lie in ruin.
The field...everyone's field...
How terrible...
Shit...who the hell did this?
Hm?
I pick up a mororo. It looks like it's been bitten all over.
(What is this...a bite mark?)
Kee,kee!
That...
Kee,kee,kee,kee!
Um,um, Hakuoro-san...
Some short of big monkey is destroying the plants, Teoro chases it to a tree...
It smiles at us with big teeth. It's definitely making a fool of us.
Ah, that. It's a kimamau. They live in the forest. They are pretty nasty creatures.
…
After this Teoro is having trouble with women, body odor perhaps?
Eruruw seems depressed...
Everything was almost done,too...
...
Sopok-san draws Eruruw close and hugs her from behind.
...
(Hm?)
(Why is she looking at me and winking?)
(Hm?)
(Was there just dust in her eye?)
-Whump-
Gah!?
(Her elbow is grinding in tome...)
(What are you spacing out for, stupid? Shouldn't this spur you on ,as a man?)
Huh?
Not "huh?" Sheesh! My husband is one thing, but why are all the men here useless?
(So,go,ahead,and,do something!)
Uwaa! I got it!
Ah...Ahem. Um, well, it's too early to give up. At least you're all safe, so we can still do something about it.
It's just like Hakuoro says. We can't give up now.
Eruruw. Country women never give up. Once that happens, it's all over.
...-nod-
(Wow...the women here are scary when they get mad.)
If they come again, it might all be destroyed.
So what do we do? They won't leave such a great field alone.
...
,,,
….
Night falls...
….
Different alternatives are discussed to deal with these pests...
But fences won't stop tree climbing animals...
Traps don't seem to be very effective, since they are too cunning...
A decision is taken:
EXTERMINATUS
A group drives the monkeys to a second group, and then the killing will be done (that's the theory).
So a large group surrounds them, and they try to escape the circle through a small gap; where Hakuoro and Teoro await...
Don't tell me you're going to go empty-handed?
Yeah, I got this from Tuskur-san.
That fan? A weapon?
I don't think that could be very useful.
It might not look like it, but...it's pretty nasty.
Whoa, heavy. Is this an iron fan?
And if you do this...
Hakuoro slashes in the air...
Ah, so you know what you're doing.
It's pretty sneaky after all.
Hm. Why would the Elder have such a thing?
Who knows? Besides, shouldn't you know more about it than me?
Well...maybe,but she has a lot of secrets.
...
(Such as, a fluid that would flow because of a blade.)
(And this black stain...)
(This has to be...)
…
appears...
Ah, thank you.
Oh, thanks a bunch.
And, this is from BigSister.
Saying that, she undoes the cords. Sake bottles.
Mamaaa-chan, you're pretty sharp.
Hm?
What's this? Isn't this just tea?
Aha ha. If you said that, I was told to say, "What are you thinking, husband? Be more serious about your work!"
Geh...
Haha...it looks like she really runs the show.
In the old days, she was kind, like Eruruw.
But as time passed, she grew more and more spirited.
(Like Eruruw?)
It's the country women. They're all like that.
Heh.(Watch out...in just a few years, Eruruw will...)
Ah!
Grrr!
Ah...Bwahahahahahaha!
-clang-clang-
(The alarm bell!!)
The sounds of the bells and the death screams of the beasts They are getting closer.
They're coming Eruruw, fall back...
Ah...yes.
BigBro, isn't there a lot of them!?
(Come to think of it...maybe we were a little optimistic.)
OldMan, the enemy is wounded. We don't know what they will do, so be careful.
Roger! What ever happens, tell me what to do!
This screen appears at the beginning of every fight.
It shows the victory/defeat conditions, as well as the mission's title.
We can check the status of the party members too...
This is Teoro, under his current level (1) we can see his status affinity (Earth). For what I have seen so far the elements are the classic 4 (Hakuoro's elemental affinity appears as
?). Fire fucks Water, and Water,Wind; Earth defeats Water, and Earth, Fire (IIRC).
HP is self explanatory. Vitality is a bit like mana, it's tied to combos (more on that later).
Exp increases by fighting, healing...(You also get Bonus Points).
Atk not only raises melee and ranged attack, it also seems to affect healing (Eruruw heals instead of attack). Defense and Magic Defense are self explanatory. Tech will be important later (combos), I will explain more later.
(There are hidden stats too).
Combat is typical grid turn-based.
Playing it in Hard mode seems like there are some bonus/penalization modifiers when having allies or enemies nearby. (Basically, try to surround your enemies and avoid getting surrounded, while keeping your allies nearby. Difficult to do when outnumbered).
The strategy for this battle will be: Stay back and act defensively. Concentrate attack into the weakest enemies. Protect the flanks with your allies (not sure if there is any effect to flanking, but at least you will get less attacks when surrounded).
The AI concentrates the attack in Hakuoro (and he isn't that strong). HP start to fall rapidly (is entirely possible to lose in the first fight).
To try to kill some of them fast, we could use combos. When attacking (and healing) the target is encircled, by clicking the circle in the rigth moment you get an extra attack .You can do more of these when your tech level is higher. When reaching maximum Tech you get a powerfull finisher. Using combos you lose vitality, so right now we are limited to a couple of combos or so. By keeping ALT pressed you do combos automatically, with reduced damage. (I haven't gotten very far into the game, so expect innacuracies).
[Fun fact: In modern systems the combat is acelerated, making combos difficult to pull. I had to use some tool to fix the speed that required the use of the task manager.]
[Fun fact 2: Some malware was keeping me from using the task manager, wasted a lot of time fixing all the issues.]
Kk They're stronger than I thought. OldMan, weren't they supposed to be weak?
Ahh! Who said that?
So until now, you never tried exterminating them?
Never!
Never!?
This is the first time! They always run away!!
(Crap...!!)
!?
Eru why are you here!!
I, I can help too!
Wha what are you talking about? It's dangerous, get back!
I,but I'm really good at healing!
I said,get back!
But
Eruruw, I could use you over here.
OldMan!?
And,well...right now,it's bad if we don't have anyone watching our back!
Hm...
Stay close...you better stay close!
Ah I, Iwill!
With her healing we stand a chance.
Unfortunately she is slow (she can't heal from a distance neither) and not very strong, so better keep an eye on her and keep her close, protected by allies.
By the time Hakuoro and Eruruw get close at each other he is half dead. Thankfully her healing is strong and Hakuoro is back into the action.
Right now we are outnumbered 3 vs 5(and Eruruw can't attack).
After concentrating our attacks we start dropping their numbers, while keeping ourselves over ½ HP.
Finally we win...
Teoro ,We...-gasp- managed to-gasp- clear them somehow.
That was close...I don't know what would've happened without Eruruw.)
(Um...)
Hm?
Sorry! Sorry for just coming out like this!
Um...no...I...
(Man...I can't approve of her putting herself in danger, but she really did save us.)
(Should I scold her for acting dangerously or praise her for her good work?)
(...What am I supposed to say now...?)
Um...well,you see...
...
Uu...
(Uu...Alright!)
To end the awkward moment, I unconsciously reach out and stroke her head.
I don't respond. I just keep stroking her to keep the moment alive.
Ah...mm...
-stroke-
...
Fondling!?
After winning battles we get Exp and Bonus Points.
Bonus points are like another kind of experience, except it allow non linear leveling.
The cost to increase those is different between different characters too.
For example increasing Eruruw's defense is expensive, While her attack (that only uses for healing) and M.Defense are cheaper.
For now I will focus on Attack.
[About the character roles: Eruruw is your typical frail healer, but can only heal at close range. Teoro is a tank. I'm not sure about Hakuoro, he doesn't seem the typical fighter, he is probably some sort of versatile tactician or something]

(The harvest yielded more than expected.)
When the fields were ruined, I didn't know what would happen. But everyone worked hard.
Dahahahahahaha,you did it, An-chan!
We really...did it...
Well then,Kaa-chan, I'll leave the rest to you.
Oh,we're going to bake some mororo.
Bake?
Ah, I see. Hm, I guess they taste best right after harvest.
...Eh?
Hm?
Heehee
W-what is it?
We don't bake them to eat, we bake them to preserve them.
Preserve?
Yes, if you bake them lightly, they can last for many days.
(Oh...)
But, they really are the best right after harvest.
Aruruw, should we eat a little of the mororo today?
Yahoo.
Mm. Well then, please look forward to it too, Hakuoro-san.
Let's go,Aruruw.
Mm...
(Hm?)
What's the matter?
Mm.
(Just now...)
(Was that...directed at me?)
