Also, keeping the pics behind spoiler tags makes the thread a neater read. When you don't, and you have a lot of pictures, often you have to scroll quite a bit down to get to the actual update. This will not happen with spoiler tags. :salute:
Thanks, I noticed the problem this morning when I went to post the update.

Why the fuckingn hell doesn't imgur's goddamn fucking piece of shit auto-resize option ever fucking work? What the fucking hell? I tell it to auto-resize all 30 to 640x480, but... Fucking nope! I'm in need of fucking Codex expert guidance.

Next update I'll summarize what has happened in those 400 photos that are still sitting on my other hard drive. Maybe one day, they'll comprise some lost episodes. As of now, well, not much of interest happened in there, so it's not a major loss.

A REUNION OF FORCES

5nFmDUd.png

Kodex Inkline Vanguard re-assembles! After four months of inactivity, they are back together/.
But, there have been some changes.
yRFAqDl.png

First, CB has risen in level
5zceb32.png

As did Kalin
g1I3WWK.png

As well as our Giant Russian Bear(TM)
The rest has stayed the same, but all are ready for level-ups, the only block being gold.
...
of which we have none
...
Our reunion venture begins with a quick trip to prison.
tu8PjjH.png

DarkUnderlord picks the lock in.
PHwfSD4.png

Where we find that it is haunted by the former denizens.
CaCvkmb.png

It goes predictably.
WWjZA3E.png

For some reason, snakes give more than poltergeists
rUBvCnt.png

None of our encounters give us any gold, so we camp out in the streets.

A Quest For Goldy
And here we start, on our Quest. We need mo' money so we can haz level up.
nojTq0N.png

Soon, we encounter a small conitngent of Decline
6wULeWT.png

They start off with an easy blow, but nothing Azira can't hand;e
MdLpx4L.png

They soon fall to our mighty blades and magic sorceries.
We then slaughter another group of Decline-makers (not captured, got 104 XP each)
WE haven't found any of the moola however. This makes us nervous, for surely we are experienced enough to gain the power, but the money is nowhere to be found, probably spent on some sort of Horse Armor.
AEk7UqT.png

A dangerous fight this will be indeed. But the rewards should be proportionally better.
WImfARW.png

Kalin smells the monies, and, with a scream as ferocious as the explosion of a thousand thermo-nuclear devices, charges forward, using an anime pose to cut the goblin's head off!
aMJGPjv.png

They soon feel the heat of my arrows, piercing them and caulderizing the wounds in the same instant.
sy1R81A.png

Even DU gets his hits in, wounding a midget in the process.
QbzpJ79.png

Soon, Kalin's badassery kills off the last one. Surely this fight will net us something worthwhile?
81vXInD.png

HOLY SHIT!!!
Gems, while they is not teh monies, are incredibly good. They, for the uninitiated among you, allow me and Grim to cast more powerful spells. This was on top of the 24 Gold, all told. They shambled back to the inn, a job well done.

A New Level
2xxrtDu.png

Here's the Blacksmith in Sorpigal.
JkPOLXM.png

And some quick foreshadowing ;)
And now, we go on to finish our chase for a level up.
WcXgcUp.png

Some Twilight fans
1i0QvS4.png

THEY BURN!!!!!!!!!!!!
BtSO1Mu.png

The XP reward is paltry.
r8HE06n.png

Being rebels, we obviously try to go to jail. (wait...)
LXvFJgD.png

Godammit, DU!
BSsBAY5.png

Inside, we find that they were locking up skellingtons.
They infiltrate our ranks.
89vWFKU.png

Goddammit! Since I was out, I had to trust Kalin, Azira and Bee's account.
ke3u8zN.png

I'm told that there was much blindshotting on Azira's part.
hng6wxs.png

And that Bee's female fury made them cower in fear.
ohqviyd.png

And that Kalin's badassery knew no bounds.
AHzUow7.png

For a shitty XP reward, no less.
vuI8J9A.png

DarkUnderlord, can you possibly explain how you set off a trap on a LEATHER SACK!?
e3wKzHW.png

More slippery bastards.
jTm3uzZ.png

Kalin makes them die. Yawn.
5EXrcPv.png

I... can't even.
mlAXJ6N.png

'Tis but a flesh wound
gkflBmI.png

Hot.
c0v4ZOx.png

Badass
aQcQAaH.png

Amazing.

Hmm... Not too bad

A Stupid Mistake
Hello Codex. It's been a while, but here we are. Without further ado:

bzP9jZP.png

We come upon our heroes in the midst of grinding.
wUUBg8t.png

KaA90bP.png

They fall easily.
After a bit of wandering through the city, we find this place:
1woDjZk.png

We hear about how good of hunting the mosters outside are. So, our next step in our minds is to go outside of the city.
1woDjZk.png

A bit of background:
Cities in M&M Book I are underground because of the rise of the dragons many decades ago. These dragons drove the people underground. So, the above ground is essentially abandoned by all but adventurers. (At least, this is what I gleaned from some off-screen investigation.)
8W0CpX7.png

Finally! We escape to breathe the fair air of the outer world. With no oppressive stone ceiling above our heads, we feel that the world is ripe for the taking! We can do anything, maybe even find the fabled Inner Sanctum.
pLnT3uj.png

If there's one thing that Ultima III has taught me, it's that you must touch every glowing column. So, bravely, we all touch the column.
3hE3yVV.png

And are teleported... somewhere? Not knowing where we are, or what sort of foes we'll face, we are afraid. But, we trust in our badassery enough to march forward, dauntless, trying to find our way to the next save point inn.
BMlok8l.png

This... could go very bad. Sprites, with their curses, can make it so we can no longer effectively hit and gnomes' high magic resist, we could get really fucked over quite easily in this match.
When the monsters accept your bribe, they teleport you to a pre-determined square in the same 16x16 cell and take all your gold (but not gems).
J4wONef.png

We almost instantly face this group, giving us some renewed courage.
eZILi7i.png

Easy peezy
kDuUyM2.png

Oh no! Here's someone we all know trying to derail this thread! We shall destroy him with righteous Codexian fury!
gk9u5az.png

We've already regained our badass points we lost from running.
GrrmABH.png

Down to just (((unknown Codexer)))
HTLjFy1.png

Our Russian priest destroys him with a well-deserved smack over the head.
dyAS6TJ.png

His yelling about how illogically we have fought brought an avalanche.
viyGZJe.png

After wandering for a while to escape, we find ourselves in a forest.
DGKNJLx.png

Oh, huh. Dunno how bad these will be, and I've got no jokes about these flamers.
YIdHzdF.png

Well, fuck.
cZYQ4XZ.png

Breath attacks? We are so screwed.
uPvmv0s.png

Well, shit. He was the one keeping us alive.
cBj9Upn.png

He goes down, puking in a pool of his own blood. Goodbye Kalin, and may a flight of those eagle things from LotR fly thee to thy rest.
KHNzRm9.png

Azira, enraged at the death of his Codexer-in-arms, fires an arrow straight through the opponent's shell, killing it.
a7rG2vk.png

I've been backing us up with some light magical artillery, but now I'm out of SP.
AfMteZF.png

We are so screwed.
Jq43x0c.png

After wounding the beetle, it performs a grievous act on our resident female.
hWZcDk9.png

At this point, you can see how this is gonna go.
JiU2Uqq.png

What is this darkness before us?
HJT9vHL.png

Huh. So you can reload from an earlier save, but you can only save at inns. Works for me, I guess.
We go back out, and find the pillar again,
nWatuTJ.png

but decide to avoid it like the plague.
BSsw7wC.png

And here begins our next great adventure of grind.

Ambushes and Sorpigal: Part 1- Pit Trap! Ambushed!
Yo. So, thing is, I might have kinda deleted an update on accident. But luckily it was only a couple of really uneventful fights, alongside a party wipe (don't worry, we'll be seeing a large amount of those soon.) In fact, right here...
lEOxJow.png

We see a new enemy type, the Ghoul.
WEkoNn7.png

Already off to a start, yeah?
kZEmMIu.png

Well, fuck.
xwgej7V.png

I'm only skipping over a little bit.
This ends relatively predictably.
WORF4gc.png

This ends just as predictably.
CoY1MKC.png

Woohoo
4J6J1f6.png

This looks like it could be fun.
F34ztJ4.png

7iivMIC.png

UiWsbye.png

Goddamn I love Turn Undead.
BCTYcHF.png

Oh and I just figured out this feature on accident.
xY7qGLj.png

Yep
PUCvRQI.png

Mmmhmm
HeMTLkr.png

:salute:
D2TmrTn.png

:salute:
KzCU49f.png

Yay a chest! These can actually hold some of the better loot.
6zLJRdr.png

See?
To quote Billy Mayze, "But wait, there's more."
7Xy49Y1.png

Not too good (I would think the hand crossbow is better, but who knows?)
We head back into town to get some training for our resident meat-head.
SKSymBV.png

N8wrbYo.png

After this occassion, we go back to Pleasant Valley, and after some aimless wandering, accidentally stumble into a forest wall.
hrGNcat.png

Sure, why not?
nF4CDQI.png

OMG, Kalin is a Star Trek reference.
3rNG90D.png

Bzz, bzz
a8yLBse.png

I guess DU's... grimdark :yeah:
JKOB4E6.png

And Grimwulf is a blue... ogre? I honestly ran out of puns at this point.
So, at this point, we start stumbling into other forest squares to find some cool stuff, and we find...
UE7zvos.png

Pit Trap! Ambush!
OnCntWD.png

It starts off actually going in our favor, surprisingly
2EORCjy.png

eZZUMdh.png

Gx3eQ9I.png

I cast Sleep, which affects the monster you choose and the next four.
XashxW2.png

Z727i4M.png

UE4vfPx.png

wZL5ZVi.png

Next round, I'm a little more successful
RnzCk9A.png

NkIFTs1.png

T362XVH.png

Oh yeah, almost forgot, Grimwulf went down. This might mean we are screwed.
Q2Zih9v.png

Still might have a chance.
bXLkLnZ.png

Okay, maybe not.
G1DCIHi.png

Well, fuck.

Ambushes and Sorpigal: Part 2
Part 2:
Well, that sucked. We wander back out and go into the other 1x1 forest square.
91TVG8t.png

"Pit Trap! Ambush!" Well, crap.
6wmtZgR.png

Starts out good enough
XX4beri.png

Then, we get pwned
This starts a slippery slope in this fight.
AdZqQLH.png

Yeah, we can all see how this is gonna go.
hrIrjDu.png

We decide to grind some more.
uAUVyD4.png

tePBLi3.png

iFuEQzH.png

47CazPk.png

This is a pretty good haul for the early game.
We head to the inn to save, but it seems that the inn...
JWkbjpJ.png

is haunted!
NtNciLD.png

Yeah, okay. We go all Ghostbusters on them.
Mywm25U.png

Damn, I love Turn Undead.
ZyFiCCr.png

We decide to explore the church/temple a bit. We find a hidden door and inside:
xwM1GLR.png

These should go down easily. A few well placed spells and...
teV4Zhf.png

Fuck
GueS5N6.png

afkSaNb.png

Huh, this is actually going pretty good.
CB kills the rest.
vG65fLL.png

Xa9gyRE.png

O7pD4Dq.png

Wow, not worth the risk.
yTkuLgZ.png

Well, at least this can go to me and then I'll have a ranged attack in no-magic zones.
AVcBgFl.png

Or maybe not.

Ambushes and Sorpigal: Part 3
We decide to actually explore Sorpigal a little bit before going up to the overworld.
6gsQTM7.png

God DU, this happens way to often. One of these times, you're gonna die.
L2ZbQhU.png

We find a pretty statue. If I had to venture a guess, I'd say this is a hint of how to get to the endgame.
9qadcfn.png

Yeah, they die.
fsXFQyw.png

Their loot is good though.
q9S12TN.png

This could be slightly more challenging.
fhooCpP.png

Or maybe not.
So, a little background for this next one. I was wandering the city of Sorpigal, hitting my head against any wall I saw, because if there's anything that M&M has taught me, it's that if you hit your head against the wall enough, you'll find what you need. Then, I was transported to a dark square.
ZgA1jLi.png

This was all I saw.
I thought, "Well, time for a reload."
kJAuitz.png

No Handicap, Paladin down. I was screwed.
FB1kkTZ.png

Then, I remembered that my Priest had achieved level 3. With that comes Pain (no, not Pein).
2d6 damage to any one target.
Sorry I didn't capture the level up.
5zr3VcF.png

At this point, you can see how this went.
I cast light to see where I am.
ncKDnvM.png

Wait. This is the dungeon under the city. The secret door led to the dungeon. Wonder why there was a back exit to the dungeon in this place.
We find our way cautiously back to the city after healing up and resting.
baTzWgL.png

We walk in to the trainer, handing me the gold and letting me go train.
baTzWgL.png

I gained almost nothing in health, but there was massive :incline: in my available spells. With L2 spells, there comes Electric Arrow (2d6 damage, same as Pain), Identify Monster (lets me see the resistances of monsters and their health, max damage, etc.) and a few others, though I haven't really used these yet. With me and Grim both being level 3, we can deal 2d6 to TWO enemies each turn. This is a massive leap in power.
----------------------------------End of Part 3-------------------------------
Sorry this one's so short, I lost probably a dozen of the pictures
