the new "codexia" ?

Another vote for conjurer, a esteemed psychologist like Albert would be at one with the beasts and the demons, as well as controlling the bodies and minds of others.

Roight, the conjurer won the vote with almost twice as many votes as the wizzard, and completely outclassed the poor warrior.

Let's get this show on the road!

Chapter one - Nox: Origins

nox0008.jpg

albert.jpg
Once more unto the breach...

The airship captain jettisons takes Albert to the ground, giving him a rundown of what to do.

As a conjurer, a subtle way of arriving without too much attention is often the best one. That's why we are deep struck in the middle of nowhere and have to go through 'abandoned mana mines' to get to a village called Ix. There, a master conjurer named Aldwyn will train us in the ways of the furry

nox0009.jpg

albert.jpg
Mind if I call you 'colonel'? Also, screw your staff, give me a fire axe.

Sorry, Albert, The Codex has put you in a role where you can't use axes.

albert.jpg
WHAT IS THIS TRICKERY

Albert grabs some meat and apple from the ground, better not know who put it there. They can be used to restore health.

nox0011.jpg

Thus, dr Tokaj moves into the dark caves. They appear unstable.

nox0012.jpg

EPIC CUTSCENE

nox0013.jpg

Rubble collapses the passage behind Albert, and a fat bear emerges from the side room.

GAME OVER. The bear sniffed the meat you picked up at the start and will now eat your arse

nox0014.jpg

Or maybe not 'cause a hueg rock kills it. There's a pouch with some gold in its lair.

nox0015.jpg

Moving on...

nox0016.jpg

Pressing a button to activate an elevator - 100xp. YEAAAAAAAAAA

nox0017.jpg

Now what could this be

nox0018.jpg

Huh. That's cool.

albert.jpg
I CAN SUMMON PIXIES WITH THE SHEER POWER OF MY WILL

:hmmm:

nox0019.jpg

When playing Nox, you always have to be on the lookout for cracked walls like these. They can be whacked with your waffe to reveal secret areas.

nox0020.jpg

TOKAJ'S FIRST NEMESIS!

A SMALL WHITE CAVE SPIDER!!!!!!!

It has a total of 1hp and the pixies act like homing missiles. They automatically rush at an enemy and do damage if you get close enough.

nox0021.jpg

A few steps ahead, Albert finds flimsy boots. They are way better than his Afterfall sneakers, so he puts them on. Even though they are probably old, mouldy and their previous owner had mycosis.

nox0022.jpg

Then we shall jump over this short obstacle!

nox0023.jpg

A chest with some geld. Also, those blue glowing crystals in the walls are 'mana crystals'. They act like recharge stations for your magickal powers. Once you've spent their batteries, they need a longer while to charge fully before you can recharge mana again.

nox0024.jpg

ANOTHER EMOTIONALLY ENGAGING CUTSCENE!!!

nox0025.jpg

Rocks fall on that row of barrels, revealing them to be exploding barrels. They leave behind them a trail of fire that needs to be doused by pushing water-filled barrels into them.

nox0026.jpg

YES!

albert.jpg
Healing spells? Food to regain health? How last gen.

Silence, Tokaj, you still have your health regen, even if it's slow as shit.

nox0027.jpg

Cool thing about this game is that each time you use a spell, the hero will yell out some words of power and show mofo gestures. Small detail, but adds to Immershun (TM)

Also, this door appears to have been locked with a silver key.

nox0028.jpg

Which can be found right down the hall to the right.

nox0029.jpg

But before we proceed, let's see what's over here to the left

These hueg rocks can be rolled away to reveal secrets areas and stuffies. They can also be destroyed by pounding at them, but with this pathetic staff it would take ages. Not to mention it would most likely break in the process.

nox0030.jpg

While pushing the rock, Albert falls into a hole!

nox0031.jpg

And finds a leather tunic :yeah:

nox0032.jpg

:satan:

nox0033.jpg

Let's go up

nox0034.jpg

And we emerge on the other side of the locked door.

nox0035.jpg

You probably can't see it 'cause they have natural camo, but Albert is having a deadly fight with a bat here.

nox0036.jpg

Also, in this corridor here are two urchins. Incredibly annoying at low levels, those wankers throw stones at you from afar and start running the moment you get close. Chasing after them with a warrior is an exercise in raging, but fortunately, as a conjurer

nox0037.jpg

A single pixie swarm takes care of both :smug:

nox0038.jpg

Later, Tokaj finds some armbands to cover his arms. Soon, his suit of armour will be complete, and he will be a walking engine of destruction @_@

nox0039.jpg

Some machinery

nox0040.jpg

You have gained 100 xp for pushing a button.

nox0041.jpg

The button started an elevator.

nox0042.jpg

And going further caused another cave-in to block Albert's way back. Also, some gold in the room to the left.

nox0043.jpg

Yes! The surface again!

albert.jpg
It's... devastated. But why is the air so fresh? Oh wait, not this game

Albert takes a healing potion cleverly left on the ground

nox0044.jpg

And walks down the path like a boss

nox0045.jpg

Sup

nox0046.jpg

nox0047.jpg

The guards seem jovial enough. Let us move in!

nox0048.jpg

What is your goal? Aldwyn is your goal! Yadda yadda yadda, DESTINY, CONJURER, SEEK OUT THE MASTER

nox0049.jpg

Ah, what a fine day for a walk through the-

nox0050.jpg

wait what is this

nox0051.jpg

Black metal fans have infiltrated the village.

I like how this guy is already labled as a 'necromancer', too.

nox0052.jpg

Pretty colours

nox0053.jpg

uhm

nox0054.jpg

OSHI-

The negrodancer summoned a giant spider that ran away into the village!

nox0055.jpg

Meanwhile, one of the townsmen started whacking him with a sword

nox0056.jpg

:hmmm:

nox0057.jpg

Thus begin the wacky adventures of Albert Tokaj in the land of Nox. Stay tuned for more.

Not that was....unique.

I eagarlly await the next update, when you will find that the villagers killed the necromancer and the spider and are raising an army to attack the "Queen", and you have nothing to do there...

Also thanks for the LP!

Chapter II - The path to power

nox0058.jpg

Last time we left doctor Tokaj, he's just arrived in the village of Ix to become a mighty conjurer!

nox0059.jpg

The first building to the left is a shop. You can tell it's a shop because it's run by a small, fat jewish guy that keeps rubbing his hands. Also, his name is Byzanti. All shopkeepers are named 'Byzanti' in Nox.

Must be some sort of a mafia.

Anyways, in them shops, we can sell our unused shit, buy some new shit and repair our used shit. Repairing used shit is very important because weapons will get destroyed if not maintained. Also, for now it's not worth buying anything here, as most of the stuff can be found in the nearby future, and other stuff is too expensive.

nox0060.jpg

The townspeople sure look cheerful and stuffies

Also, it is now time to engage in what every self-respecting adventurer does.

nox0061.jpg

Loot the people's houses. They provide much jewgold

nox0062.jpg

'Your own good', huh. COMMIES :x

nox0063.jpg

Mystic bruthahood shops provide potions, spells and beast scrolls. Sometimes magic staves, too. And everything is ridiculously overpriced there.

nox0064.jpg

Inside one of the houses, Albert finds some medieval pants. While not as stylish as his Afterfall trousers, they provide a better defence value. Not to mention modern clothes can be sold for much jewgold (btw, I like how modern shirt/pants go for '49' and sneakers for '99' gold  )

nox0065.jpg

A tavern. Those are usually not good for much, but the tavernkeepers almost always have some sort of a single 'special' item for sale. Special and ridiculously pricey.

You can talk to people there, too. Like this charming young lady :smug:

nox0066.jpg

:x

Also, inside one of the tavern rooms, Albert finds a medieval shirt

nox0067.jpg

It is a mystery

nox0068.jpg

D:

nox0069.jpg

We dun have a bow :(

nox0070.jpg

Fortunately, there's this sleezy guy here, selling a bow for 100 gold.

If you go to a shop to remove a bow from an inventory, it costs 500...

nox0071.jpg

So yeah, good deal it is. Totally not shady, too

Also,

nox0072.jpg

D: !

nox0073.jpg

Time to partake in this contest here

nox0074.jpg

Sounds easy enough

nox0075.jpg

shoop shoop

nox0076.jpg

shoop

nox0077.jpg

and shoop some more

nox0078.jpg

Clear 10 out of 10, haha!

albert.jpg
Now if they could see what I can do with an assault rifle

Also, only 50 gold? I paid 20 just to get here and 100 for a bow. SCAMMERS! JEWS! :x

At least I get to keep the 10 spare arrows. And the 500xp is much more worth it.

nox0079.jpg

Let us continue on our epic quest

nox0080.jpg

OSHI-

nox0081.jpg

nox0082.jpg

Impressive

nox0083.jpg

Let us press on!

nox0084.jpg

A mysterious gateway. Wonder where it leads.

nox0085.jpg

Sup. Looks like we're taking a detour

nox0086.jpg

While adventurin', you have to be on the lookout for those particular treestumps. They are hollowed and hold goodies inside.

nox0087.jpg

Into the fray!

nox0088.jpg

Dumdedum

nox0089.jpg

Lots of chests in this here cave

nox0090.jpg

I heard you like chasing urchins : x

nox0091.jpg

GET BACK HERE YOU FUCKER :x

nox0092.jpg

nox0093.jpg

nox0094.jpg

albert.jpg
IT'S CLOBBERIN' TIME

nox0095.jpg

The bridge guard's boots are hier.

nox0096.jpg

Also, lotsa gold + a sturdy staff to replace our flimsy staff. Neat.

Let's get the boots back to the git

nox0097.jpg

Stun is a rather sucky spell, but useful to keep fuckers in place.

nox0098.jpg

Going back to the caves, Albert finds an urchin beast scroll. Beast scrolls give you insight into stuff, amplify your damage against said stuff by 25% and allow you to charm the monsters once you have the spell.

nox0099.jpg

Elevator out

nox0100.jpg

sup

nox0101.jpg

nox0102.jpg

nox0103.jpg

All the doors are locked. Fags.

The Temple won't appear till much later in the game, and the cemetery is exclusive to the warrior's path.

nox0104.jpg

A hut in the woods. In before Albert gets caught by a witch and boiled alive.

nox0105.jpg

Ohai there

Well, without that you can't be a conjewrer, so of course we accept

nox0106.jpg

nox0107.jpg

nox0108.jpg

Thanks for yer assistance, Baldwyn.

nox0109.jpg

Let me return the favour by robbing your house :smug:

Albert now looks propa serious because he has a cloak.

nox0110.jpg

My only regret is you can't steal his hat :(

nox0111.jpg

Let's see what we can find in this untergrunt passage.

nox0112.jpg

Spidurrs!!

CHARM!!!!

nox0113.jpg

Monsters come in three sizes - small, medium and large, taking respectively 1, 2 and 4 squares of control. You can control 4 squares max.

Clicking on the monster in the upper right corner allows you to give it basic commands. 'Banish' destroys it, 'hunt' makes it roam, 'escort' follows you around, 'guard' locks it in place, 'observe' gives you vision from its eyes.

Later on, when our charm spell gets upgraded, we'll be able to summon beasts from our beast scrolls.

nox0114.jpg

NOW ALBERT COMMANDS AN ARMY OF SPIDERS @_@

nox0115.jpg

Come here you annoying brat

nox0116.jpg

Tokaj emerges in Ix. I banished the creatures because they aren't worth much anyway, especially the 1-hp spiders.

nox0117.jpg

After which Albert proceeds to buy more beast scrolls:

nox0118.jpg

First a troll scroll from the tavern.

nox0119.jpg

And next a wasp scroll from the magic shop.

And that would be all. Next update, we shall purge the mayor's villa with holy fire.

Screenshots really don't do this game justice. Its an action game, screenshots don't show off anything other than how impressively good looking the game is.

They might have a point tho. This doesn't seem like a very LPable game. Maybe it's just me/us tho.

Shrug, perhaps that is so.

However, I have to note that the gentleman above seems to be quite upset about something. And by 'upset' I mean 'butthurt'.

That dude's just being retarded. I'm just saying, it's hard to quickly see what's going on in stills from this game, and as someone noted it does not impress in stills. If the setting/story gets more interesting it'll be worth it though. And I do like the Tokaj insert.

You must be blind (lobotomy complications?). Whats hard to see? There is a dude in the middle and stuff fucking around him. Get some glasses.

What is retarded though, is you fagfisting Darth when he tried to mask being offended by ALLCAPS AND BROTARDATION.
I mean, is that some kind of gaypride thing where cockslurpers like you back each other up, holding hands?
Or did you want to signify how not offended you are about someone not liking a crappy LP that you arent writing?

someone's get issues

you should hook up with hiver

You probably thought this LP was dead

NOPE!

nox0120.jpg

Albert goes towards the mayor's house and is instantly recognised as a noble conjurer. Must be because of that cape. Capes make everyone look important.

nox0121.jpg

nox0122.jpg

nox0123.jpg

nox0124.jpg

Albert moves into the study, and indeed, finds spiders crawling out of the cobwebs in the corner.

nox0125.jpg

Squishing and charming a couple of them soon lures about the muthaship. It needs to be charmed lest it respawns.

nox0126.jpg

We shall banish them then.

nox0127.jpg

nox0128.jpg

Pop! They disappear in sparks of light.

nox0129.jpg

nox0130.jpg

YEAAAAAAAA, Albert has achieved level two, and has advanced from 'initiate' to 'apprentice conjurer'.

There's nothing to do when you get levels in Nox, as all your stats increase automatically according to your class.

nox0131.jpg

Jewgold is always welcome

nox0132.jpg

As Albert heads towards the main gate of Ix, a strange purple creature flies towards him.

nox0133.jpg

And it morphs into Aldwyn. Neat power, shame we'll never have access to it :(

nox0134.jpg

Aldwyn morphs into an imp again and leaves. The guard allows us to pass...

nox0136.jpg

The captain always gives us briefings in those new chapter introductions. Apparently, the 'mana mines' next to Ix have been invaded by monsters. The miners need evac and the monsters need to be wiped out, as the mana mines are a key resource in Nox - both conjurers and wizards need mana crystals in tonnes to perform their craft.

Which does beg the question why the hell would they send anyone as green as Albert to handle such an important problem.

nox0137.jpg

I ain't afraid of no bandits!

nox0138.jpg

First thing we do is stray off the path, obviously.

nox0139.jpg

And look for secrets!

Nox is chockful of secrets and you have to be constantly on the lookout for them.

nox0140.jpg

A wolf guarding a sturdy staff. Not much, but it can be sold at least. Also, some gold in a chest.

nox0141.jpg

More wolves

nox0142.jpg

Taking a long way around, hugging the forest wall reveals these two chests, holding lots of arrows. They will be very useful later on.

nox0143.jpg

A cave full of bats.

nox0144.jpg

And some sort of a hut.

nox0145.jpg

A majestic quest! Those bandits shall be disposed of. No one is stealing spectacles from hermits on my watch!

nox0146.jpg

O snap, guess this is one of those fabled bandits.

nox0147.jpg

BETWEEN THE HAMMER AND THE ANVIL

nox0148.jpg

Fortunately, the bow and all the arrows he's found lately give Albert a shitton of firepower that allows him to dispatch the brigands without taking harm.

nox0149.jpg

And another one down

albert.jpg
Those Shelter archery lessons finally paid off

nox0150.jpg

Albert reaches some buildings, most likely the bandit camp.

nox0151.jpg

And brigand archers shoot him with arrows! Can't retaliate either, as they are popamolin' from inside buildings.

nox0152.jpg

Albert takes cover and riddles a swordsman full of lead

nox0153.jpg

Then he enters the hut and whacks the popamolist to death with his staff

nox0154.jpg

Reaching another, larger building, dr Tokaj engages another archer in a firefight. Shooting stationary targets is actually fairly difficult in Nox, as the arrows are not 'hitscan', and the enemies have an in-built script that makes them sidestep when shot at.

nox0155.jpg

Punishing all the outlaws, Albert recovers the stolen spectacles.

Tokaj ponders the situation and updates his PDA with a psychological assessment

albert.jpg
I often deal with unstable patients, but this situation is not common headache. It's almost like... a sudden intensification of usual syndrome symptoms combined with a decline of self-preservation instinct. They might be highly dangerous to other inhabitants.

nox0156.jpg

Then he returns the spectacles.

nox0157.jpg

And gets a beast scroll as a reward. Neat!

nox0158.jpg

Moving on, Albert encounters some wasps and a hive.

Wasps are actually fairly dangerous early in the game. Their stings don't do much damage, but their attack speed is very fast. They also poison you.

nox0159.jpg

They also usually guard hives that can be broken down. Goodies can often be found inside, but whacking the hive causes more wasps to appear.

nox0160.jpg

Yay, traders.

nox0161.jpg

The mystic sells scorpion beast scrolls, which we get ASAP. You'll know why later.

nox0162.jpg

Pah, tiny irrelevant scorpions. Who cares about those, amirite? :troll:

nox0163.jpg

The other merchants sell arms and armour, which doesn't really profit us much. We'll be able to find most of the upper tier armour by ourselves, and we are not running short on arrows yet (and magic items are way too expensive for now).

Let's follow this path!

nox0164.jpg

Albert encounters some wolves and slaughters them. The shield + sword are totally useless for a conjurer, but hey, free money.

nox0165.jpg

More brigands along the road.

nox0166.jpg

No passage, t'would seem.

nox0167.jpg

Friggin omniscient guards

nox0168.jpg

This path looks promising.

nox0169.jpg

Aaaaand no passage here either.

nox0170.jpg

HOW DO THEY KNOW ABOUT MY MISSION :(

nox0171.jpg

Here's the entrance to the mines.

nox0172.jpg

nox0174.jpg

Sounds serious

nox0175.jpg

Aldwyn was morphing into an imp when giving us the quest.

Anyway, the matter seems to be pressing and can have no delays

nox0176.jpg

Let's loot the miner's lodge then! :smug:

nox0177.jpg

First we rob the foreman of bow and arrows

nox0178.jpg

Then get all the stuff in the miners' quarters. Not much inside, except for a pair of leather leggings. Now Albert only needs a helmet to have a full set of power armour!

nox0179.jpg

Albert Tokaj enters the mines. He will find much Confinement Syndrome inside.

Also, something I forgot about in the previous updates: each chapter has a deathscreen after you get killed, and some mocking taunts from the bitch queen you saw in the intro.

Here's the one for the first chapter:

nox0180.jpg

Such humiliation! You couldn't even find Aldwyn, much less become his apprentice! It is my destiny, Hecubah's, to become ruler of these lands, and you weren't even a flea in my way!

And the second one:

nox0182.jpg

You failed to become Aldwyn's apprentice, and suffered an ugly death trying. The people of Nox have no hope against their inevitable doom, as subjects of my tyranny will cover the entire world! Hahahaha!

More to follow later! ^_______^

Also, changing death screens are cool.

Thus making Nox much more awesome and complex than Diablo 2, I don't remember it having such feature.
