Unfortunately, behind us two warriors got isolated and chopped to pieces by Thralls. One of them was Roxor.

Join the army, they said :x

Mission 6: The Forgotten Lands

Mazzarin, guy who, during our TFL LP, ambushed berserkers when they tried to kill paralyzed Watcher... YEAH LET'S FIND HiM!

3.jpg

And it's a hero-only level. I don't like those.

4.jpg

Imagine searching whole Forest Heart for one dead dude, and it was before Quest Compass was invented!

1.jpg

Unfortunately all our heroes all melee units. Myrdred is not the Deceiver yet so his special ability is "Dispersal Dream" and not "Wolololo" unfortunately. Dispersal Dream is sort-of range attack but we can use it only three times so we are pretty much stuck in meeleeing shit.

2.jpg

After short stroll in the woods our brave heroes stumbled upon omnious circle... PUZZLE LEVEL ALERT! PUZZLE LEVEL ALERT!

3.jpg

Also, floating bitch. What it is I don't even so: GIANT BOMB HERE I COME:

Lyche

Unit Type: Heavy Medium-Range Support

Lyches are the vengeful spirits of long-dead sorceresses that have been brought back to life through the necromancy of Bahl'al. Having been put to death centuries ago by those mistrustful of magic, in their current state they have nothing but contempt for the living. Lyches attack with a slow-moving projectile that causes damage over time to those within its area of effect. The best defense against this attack is to simply keep moving in order to avoid it entirely.

4.jpg

Baldie will tank it.

5.jpg

Or just avoid it's attack, he's fast enough.

6.jpg

I also decided to send Myrdred as a support, hoping he have some sort of range attack, but no, he doesn't.

7.jpg

But baldie fucked Lyche up and now we can proceed to investigate this omnious circle from closer perspective.

1.jpg

THAT'S A SHTYGIAN KNIGHT! CRAFTED FROM THE SHOULSH OF FALLEN SHOLDIERS BY SHOULBLIGHTE... oh, wait.

2.jpg

I decided to send Myrdred to investigate those Stygian Knights since they seem to be stationary...

3.jpg

But they told Myrdred to fuck off.

4.jpg

They also told Shiver Ravanna to fuck off, but as soon as she got near the circle there was an earthquake and cricle started flashing.

1.jpg

But knights are still pissed so let's fuck 'em up.

2.jpg

They went down like bitches.

3.jpg

Unfortunately circle stopped flashing when Ravanna left it. Well, I think that it doesn't take a genius to figure out what this puzzle is all about now.

4.jpg

AMBUSH!

5.jpg

Forgotten

Unit Type: Medium Melee

Resembling in many ways the Myrmidons of Myth: TFL, the Forgotten are fast-moving undead that carry iron blades in each hand. Rumored to be all that remains of a tribe of cannibals that once occupied Forest Heart, the Forgotten can be found in significant numbers there and in the ranks of Moagim's army. Though they are much more mobile than the Thrall, they are not exceedingly durable, so a large group of melee units can usually deal with them quite well.

6.jpg

And they also went down like bitches.

1.jpg

Another ambush, this time there is more of them.

2.jpg

3.jpg

Not exactly a tough opponents dem Forgottens. Myrdred is slightly wounded but Damas is a Heron Guard captain so he can heal us up with his 6 mandrake roots if need be.

1.jpg

2.jpg

Another circle, directly south of us.

3.jpg

And a Lyche nearby. Let's try to avoid it for a change.

4.jpg

No Lyche fucks were given so now let's see who belongs in this circle...

5.jpg

Connacht.

6.jpg

Now Stygian Knights have to get fucked.

7.jpg

And fucked they got! Let's look for more circles.

1.jpg

2.jpg

Oh, great. A river crossing.

3.jpg

Nothing horrible happened, shocking.

4.jpg

And here we have yet another circle.

5.jpg

And a Lyche, and this one don't want to be ignored.

6.jpg

Baldie and Ravanna will fuck it up.

7.jpg

... Or get fucked up by it.

8.jpg

Goddamn, those things hit like a goddamn truck.

9.jpg

Ok, healing time.

1.jpg

2.jpg

All our Damas are belong to this circle.

3.jpg

But we have to remove Stygian Knight squatters first.

4.jpg

And a Lyche.

5.jpg

It's your cricle Damas, so you clean it up.

6.jpg

Splendid!

7.jpg

Myrdred is not cool enough to have his own Enni Circle so there are only three on this map. Now we shall proceed to put everyone on his/her's circle.

8.jpg

Myrdred will wait here.

9.jpg

10.jpg

11.jpg

Our shenanigans opened Mysterious Crypt (TM). Now we must GATHER OUR PARTY BEFORE VENTURING FORTH.

12.jpg

And then head in general direction of Mysterious Crypt (TM).

1.jpg

There be Stygian Knights a-guarding...

2.jpg

But I don't think they are going to stop us.

3.jpg

We will use Dispersal Dream for shit ang giggles because we didn't have opportunity to use it in this level.

4.jpg

And then we will just chop the rest.

5.jpg

And that's it, mission is over and we can enter the crypt.

6.jpg

This was even easier than Journey to Llancarfan.

Didn't liked new XCOM, so cinematic vibe that I can't stand... demo kicked out faster than terrors missions.

Cool to see old antiheroes before transformation. Also - I like running so Mission5 was kinda entertaining.

MOAR problems with following the Plot. How/when does it become apparent that the Watcher is helping the current Leveler?

Watcher destroyed Empire's army together with the Trow when Connacht went straight into Moagim's trap. Unfortunately watching youtube video is necessary to follow the plot so I will try to write short recap of what happened during cutscenes from now on if you can't watch the videos.

Mission 7: The Crypt of Mazzarin

WARNING: Watch up to 1:54, there is spoiler after that point.

0briefing.jpg

1.jpg

2.jpg

We've found the crypt, now we have to find the last resting place of Mazzarin himself.

3.jpg

Sytgian Knights are patrolling the corridors. They shouldn't be much of a problem for our heroes. But we have to be careful, we have limited supply of mandrake roots for healing.

4.jpg

I decided to take corridor to the left.

5.jpg

We have to deal with Stygian knights first.

6.jpg

They went down quite easily.

7.jpg

Let's continue then.

8.jpg

In a large hall at the end of this corridor, we got ambushed by enemies we know from previous mission. We have to watch out, their floating skull attack can deal shitton of damage if you are not careful.

9.jpg

We killed one floating bitch. The other one dissapeared.

10.jpg

We can continue looking for Mazzaring resting place.

11.jpg

There are those closed doors everywhere. And I don't have a foggiest how to open them.

12.jpg

So we will wander around, lighting up magical braziers on our way.

13.jpg

Floating bitch reappeared.

14.jpg

We've told Damas to dodge her attacks while the rest prepares to chop her to pieces.

15.jpg

Unfortunately, she managed to hit Myrdred once, and almost killed him.

16.jpg

But she's proper dead now and we sacrificed one mandrake root to heal Myrdred.

17.jpg

We continue, lighting up braziers on our way so we can see anything.

18.jpg

We stumbled upon strange pedastal with glowing stone. It's probably important.

19.jpg

We activated the pedstal and got immidiately attacked by Lyche.

20.jpg

We split up and prepare to fuck them up.

21.jpg

They are dead but Myrdred managed to get hiss slow ass almost killed again.

22.jpg

We won't heal him up just yet. But we will try to keep him out of harms way this time.

23.jpg

There is another Lyche at the end of this corridor.

24.jpg

We send Damas after her since he's fastest.

25.jpg

Meanwhile, Myrdred lights up brazier.

26.jpg

Damas killed Lyche but now he has to retreat because stygian knights are coming.

27.jpg

We join up and prepare to ruin their day.

28.jpg

29.jpg

We've found two more pedestals, they are protected by one Lyche.

30.jpg

We ordered everyone to cut her up while Damas was dodging her attacks.

31.jpg

Now let's activate those pedestals.

32.jpg

Activating both of them opened previously closed parts of the crypt.

33.jpg

Time to move out.

34.jpg

Lone wisp tries to stop us. They are not very dangerous and nowhere near as annoying as Lyche.

35.jpg

Some more wisps coming.

36.jpg

And we have another pedestal stone.

37.jpg

Lone lyche attacked us from behind while we were trying to get to pedestal. We will send Ravana to fuck her up.

38.jpg

39.jpg

Myrdred activated pedestal and we were getting ready to move along when we, again, got attacked by wispis. This time in group of three.

40.jpg

We defeated them but we had to heal up after this fight.

41.jpg

After bit of exploration we've found another pedestal.

42.jpg

Activating it opened more of the crypt for us.

43.jpg

... And also pissed off three Lyche. This will suuck.

44.jpg

We leave slowass Myrdred behind while the rest spreads out and attacks Lyche.

45.jpg

We managed to kill them but Ravana got hurt.

46.jpg

Now we have to move along, killing stygian knights on our way.

47.jpg

48.jpg

Another Lyche, this time it's job for Connacht.

49.jpg

50.jpg

51.jpg

More door opens for us.

52.jpg

Large group of stygian knights stands on our path. We are running out of mandrake root so we will use Myrdred's dispersal dream on them.

53.jpg

SPLAT!

54.jpg

Nowe we can continue.

55.jpg

We got our asses surrounded by wisp. We tell everyone to spread out and attack.

56.jpg

57.jpg

Now we can activate yet another pedestal stone.

58.jpg

And heal Ravana before we move along.

59.jpg

We've spotted two Lyche. Fortunately they were busy fighting stygian knights.

60.jpg

Let them fight. We won't interfere.

61.jpg

62.jpg

We will just kill survivors.

63.jpg

Liek so.

64.jpg

After some time moving along the corridor, we've found strange pillar with black stone in the ceter.

65.jpg

Stygian knights are guarding it. We prepare to defend ourselves.

66.jpg

67.jpg

I think that was all of them.

68.jpg

Now we can move along.

69.jpg

Two Lyche appeared behind us.

70.jpg

But we will ignore them and make our way towards this world knot.

71.jpg

Which teleported us to place that either lacks proper texure or HAVE COME SEEKING THE LIGHT,

72.jpg

Few steps away from the world knot we've found a circular room with huge-ass wisp in the center.

73.jpg

Wisp is shooting lightning at Connacht so we ordered him and Myrdred to take cover while Damas, together with Ravana, charges him.

74.jpg

He tried to run away (he is faster than Damas) but we managed to pincer the fucker.

75.jpg

And slash him to pieces.

76.jpg

His death opened new passage.

77.jpg

Watch from 1:15 till the end.

Ok, this whole delay was because I've lost my saves but I decided to start again by cheating and starting new game from mission 7. Now I need new recruits for Llancarfan armies. Anyone volunteers?
