I'm trying to figure which plot is more idiotic - asari or citadel.

    So far they have:
    - refused to provide any help at all DESPITE HAVING A FUCKING PROTHEAN VI
    - refused to take part in forming of your alliance as 'waste of time'
    - acted like superior bitches
    - only asked for your help when shit already went tits up on their planet

To top it all off you were cutscened into idiotic defeat... and then they want YOU to feel responsible?

I think the asari never asked you to feel responsible at all. If anything, it seems like Shepard is written by bioware to have self-inflicted guilt about this whole failure.
And I really can't see why this is so when they failed to give a sense of success of failure from the boss fight. I never felt in danger, when suddenly this guy went 'rocket spam lol' and rocks fall, shepard loses.

So yeah, badly written emotional engagement.

Yeah, but like they couldn't ask the prothean VI about the Reapers, when Shepard started crying 'wolf!'? Or the prothean VI could not tell them about it each time they launched the damned thing? If it did tell them about the threat, why didn't they act upon it?

    Oh, the plotholes and contrivances.

I meant Bioware making you as a player feel responsible. It was even more annoying with whole crew (except Joker) going like 'it's not your fault Shep'. Asari councilor just facepalmed at the whole thing.

Not to mention, why didn't the Prothean beacon on Thessia never give a similar vision to the Asari like the one on Eden Prime did to Shepard? Didn't Prothean the scientists on Ilos send a SOS across the entire galaxy?

Vision? Please, that is so 2007. They had a fully-functional Brothean VI that everyone could understand (not just Shep and his magical cypher, this time) and which - for the thousands of years the space lesbians had it - knew the whole deal about the Reepahs and the Crucible and the ultimate answer to life, the universe and everything... and yet, waited for the A-Team's arrival to dramatically reveal itself and... utterly fail to tell us the only thing we didn't already know for all 5 minutes it spent telling us that we're dooooooomed.

If you inspect artifacts in the temple before activating the VI you learn that the asari goddes was in fact a prothean. In time they've adjusted her image to look more asari. I recall Liara getting all butthurt because of that find. She was probably the one leaving the VI behind.

I have a strong feeling this whole plot was an afterthought in lines of 'how the fuck do we make that catalyst stuff work and make player actually go after cerberus' since it makes no sense in relation to stuff happening in all games, including asari not knowing anything about reapers in ME1 and discarding reaper threat in ME2/3. And a prothean expert/shadow broker not having a clue about any of this.

Also, why is Liara the only asari with proper skin texture, every other blue lesbo just looks like plastic sex doll.

Male Shep voice actor sucks so much, all these lines are delivered like he was talking while reading a newspaper at some bar.

Wow. Shit is getting emo. Liara is a lost cause, especially with that voice actress' performance (let alone Mark Meer's monotone). Only a few people left who are not coming across as whiny little turds now. Emotional engagement, I guess.

Having people talk about how sad it is to lose worlds isn't the most effective way to get the impact of this stuff across, anyway, but I guess it's the best they could do. I do like how the team members interact. It's still stupid they try to exploit something that was not a choice or failing on the player's part for emotional engagement purposes. It just doesn't work.

The whole guilt trip feels very forced and unconvincing. The cutscene where we lose to Ninja Boy is too silly to make us regret losing the info to him. And Shepard is in no way responsible of what happens to the asari world. Why is it even such a big deal ? The Reapers have been ravaging Earth for much longer and you don't see humans emo-ing that much. Did the Asari think that the destruction of all organic intelligent life in the galaxy somehow wouldn't involve them ?

While, from what I've seen, Javik is definitely not as interesting as he should be, I like the way he pisses off Liara by telling her her whole civilization is BS. It wouldn't make sense for him to handle her with kid's gloves : her planet being attacked by the Reapers is nothing compared to the years of war he's known, which ended in the complete extermination of his people.

Nope not Cerberus but Bioware writers who got bat shit insane, we have camel toed PC AIs, emmo suitfags and other colored sodomites VS Cartoon Evil Cerberus led EVIL WHITE MAN TM... Right after they try to trick you into Guilt cause Shep was not able to win scripted match against Space Ninja and planet full of Space Bitches is lost.... OH teh Horror....

Why After watching this LP I have great urge to change side and/or let those looser being harvested by Reapers? Maybe the next Species will be much less fucked up. :decline: of Emo Space Opera.

The last couple updates... oh wow. Even assuming that forced cutscene would be done better and wouldn't feel like cheap railroading, that forced guilt is just painful to watch. And stupid. Really stupid.
First of all, aren't soldiers trained to handle defeats gracefully? You know, retreat, regroup and re-engage? Second, Shep's background is ruthless, right? So, why does he even give a fuck about asari civilians, shouldn't he be focused on a mission first? If Reapers are harvesting Thessia means they are putting less pressure elsewhere (e.g. on Crucible) so that's actually good. But no, Shep's all emo and 'why the jokes Joker?' Durr

Liara's butthurt is derp too, so asari jump-started on prothean tech - but isn't that the case for all races? I don't remember any of the asari to claim that they bootstrapped their tech by themselves.

Yeah, from now on out the game is pretty uber derp. (cf my prestigious review etc).

Did you take incendiary explosions for the ammo power? My experience of it was ludicrous damage.

So why does she die exactly? She survives if you allowed her to use alliance funding back on citadel but NOTHING changes in that scene, even the outcome with tracing that ninja cunt. She even looks the same with a little dirt on her face. Except here instead of group hug and parting ways (and of course gaining her as a war asset), she dies after killing her dad. Did medigel prices skyrocket so much she had to ask for your spectre VISA? Was her wallet too thin to stop blade from terminally stabbing her?

Miranda killing her father was pretty cool... although the gratuitous butt shot may not have been completely necessary or even appropriate.

The "Medigel ?" comments made me laugh. But to be fair to ME3, healing abilities being mysteriously forgotten when the plot decides a NPC has to die is not a recent phenomenon in CRPGs.

It's nice to get some insight into the plans of Cerberus, for once. Though said plans don't make that much sense : controlling husks would be useful, but it wouldn't win the war, and it seems unlikely that it would be much help as far as controlling the Reapers themselves is concerned.

Controlling the Raepers through "extrapolating" husk-controlling research is fucking genius. Guise, I know how radio-controlled cars work, I'm gonna extrapolate how to control humans now.

In theory if you could control the reaper-husk link, you could make the husks and other indoctrinated units either a) fight for you or b) drop dead.

Would make things much easier, the reapers would have no invasion force anymore, and you'd only be left fighting the giant squids and the dragons. Thus giving the organics a massive boost to resources.
