It still doesn't explain the chicken thing though. You see the chancellor wave chicken about, then he turns into the hordling king, then Chauncey throws chicken at him (in his mouth? Is not clear) and he dies?

It's likely a reference to the start of the game, where the King almost chokes on a chicken (with Chauncey saving him).
