Not too shabby this time. If you can kill cybie before berserk wears off you should hardly get scratched. Full fire resist and no way he's going to beat you in melee during berserk.

Yeah, this is one time I want to get spawn ambushed. I don't want to walk 20 times to get to him.

Oh boy. The cathedral is a place where it would be REALLY nice to have that malicious blades trait. That, or about 8 large medpacks.

He could get by with the hatred skulls... but those are probably worth saving for the mortuary.

Nicely done. Though you probably didn't need the hatred skull and might regret not having it in the mortuary.

Doesn't the longinus spear count as a blade? I was pretty sure it did.

Not sure it does unfortunately, I checked like 10 times on the wiki. But will test it in game.

And yeah, I can also drop the combat knife from now on and could've held on to the hatred skull. But our inventory could benefit from a plasma or medpack.

Good updates. I would assume the Cyberdemon drops rockets because he carries a rocket launcher. You made very short work of the Unholy Cathedral, so I'm looking forward to seeing the Mortuary.

The Mortuary was the death of my melee focused character.

I have a bit of a strategy for it, and we should have 100% fire resistance :). I hope the Vault is ahead of the Mortuary so that we can get our hands on a killer item.

That is fairly lucky the former shotgun didn't fire at you with those 2 barrels right next to you. Very well could have been the end.

I was actually surprised shotguns had an accuracy rating.

Why the fail? Let's take this opportunity to hear about the mechanics of shotgun accuracy here, afterall it's a LP about how to get better at DoomRL. :D

Question: How many times has your shotgun missed while playing DoomRL (Hint: the answer is a multiple of zero.)

But shotgun fires multiple fragments. A long range shot clearly does less damage than a short range shot despite not missing. Maybe the spread is reduced.

You're overthinking it. If it worked the way you imagine (multiple individual attacks), even a single point of armor would render the shotgun useless at any range. You get a single damage roll on each target, modified by range and armor. There is no to-hit roll. Everything in the shrapnel cloud gets hit; there are no projectiles. Hence why you can fire down a hallway with 5 demons in it and hit every single one.

Nice, aside from the derping of dropping your blade resists. Vaults should be... interesting.

You can build some bitchin' boots with that onyx pack and just one other common mod pack if you find it. :smug:

Thanks for the hint. I think I may just do that given how unnecessary the onyx pack is now for the armor and given what happened on the next level (hint. the Vault is done, will be uploading)

I would love it if there was a mashup mod for this that rolled in monsters and weapons from many of the classic FPS, Duke Nukem, Quake, Unreal, RoTT, Hexen etc.
