I honestly forgot about the race of snowflake cats.

That's pretty clever, for the writing standards of this game.

They namedroped a lot of thing from Lovecraft's works, like the author of the Necromicon in the last update, but it does not go beyond that. Still I think, for the game they were writing, that it was the right decision: going beyond namedropping Lovecraft's stuff would have gone with the intended tone of the game, which is not very serious.

New level means new enemy. The T-Rex are quite strong, they've caused a few knock-out while fighting them. But since everyone is back up at full health at the end of the combat, it's not too bad.
For this monsters, it's the first occasion in a long time that I'm using Umi's sleep spell, which limits the danger posed by those enemies, by preventing them to act for one turn.

I changed the party before the fight, replacing Umi by Dacre, in order to have access to his buffs and healing spells.

The fight wasn't hard, Cthulhu got knocked out, but Dacre was able to revive him. Sharpe did the most damage this time, since his latest level-up has improved one of his spell, doubling his damage to 4000 HP and since the boss only had 25000 HP, it wasn't too hard.

I've checked a guide, I can delay his killing move by five turns with Umi's sleep spell, but only once. But we still can't deal enough damage at the moment to kill him, so we'll have to come back to deal with him later.

So in the end, after sleeping, I was able to finish the dungeon. I was just unlucky with the first enemy groups and the spells they used, doing more damage than I was able to tank. I was able to defeat the groups that killed me, especially after leveling up a few more time: we ended up around level 34 at the end of the dungeon.

All the enemies of this dungeon. For the dragon, we used Umi's sleep spell to save one turn, which is enough to kill most of the other monsters.

The boss was not difficult, especially compared to the first few fight of this dungeon.

The team levelled up one more time after killing the boss. I've stopped showing them some time ago, but this time, two stand out.

And between the new equipment, the bunch of level we've gained since last time, we successfully finish it before he dropped his instakill attack. Dacre was very useful, between his buff and healing, plus a good damage capability, which he acquired after leveling up in the last dungeon. Most of the team level-up two time with the boatload of XP DEM dropped.

DEM joins the team.
DEM is like an improved version of Sharpe, concentrated on physical damage on a single target, plus a party-wide buff which improve all stats by 25%. He's also level 40, above everyone else, which are around level 36.

We go back to Innsmouth to continue exploring the town, even if there's not much else to see.

So we start our exploration of the Gold Marsh Foundry, to fight Dagon.

Big machinerie, it just doesn't look like a foundry to me, more like the stuff in a dam to produce electricity, but it seems the devs don't give a damn.

They continue to name drop a lot of Lovecraft-related terms. Even if he's stronger than most of the other random enemies, he still fails to pose a threat. In that particular instance, I stunned him with Umi to first remove the other enemies, then concentrated all my attacks on him.

Very easy boss fight. Dagon went down in four-five turns, especially since when he's wasting his time summoning his little friends, instead of attacking us; since we can easily one-shot his mooks with two of our characters, it leave the other two free to act.
We got a pile of level-up from this fight too.
According to the in-game achievement screen, I'm supposed to beat Dagon before DEM, so it's not surprising that it was very easy.

As if there was any "adhering to the source material" in this game. Apart from name-dropping, there was little of the Cthulhu Mythos in this game. I mean removing the name-dropping would not change much to the game.

And then the game dump us there, on the coast just in front of R'lyeh, which has conveniently appeared just off the coast.

I think this part is baddly done, beyond its (lack of) literary qualities. The player is not given any choice and still the burden of choice is on the player ("You don't want Cthulhu to destroy the world? "), but without any input! It's combining the worst of both world: meaningless choice and no player input.
The devs could have Cthulhu just decide on his own, so that the choice is driven by character progression and not an ass-pull of the devs. Or give a choice to the player, even if just choosing "end of the world" means you're dumped back to the main menu. Or once at the game over screen, offer a 'go back to previous choice' option, so that there's no lost progress. I mean how hard is it to add a simple choice with no consequences?

Man, I tried to play this game at least three times and never get far because the humor is just so atrocious

Perhaps it's just that my taste is different or just that I find their attempt at humor so bad it becomes funny in its own way (in a so bad it's good kind of way). Also I'm not taking seriously and I hope the dev was not taking it seriously either.

I found that the visual design was better than most of the other dungeons. Which is weird since the completion rate of RPG is low, so it would mean to spend time and money on an area that most player won't see. On the other hand, I'm not complaining to see something goodbetter-looking for once.

We find a sword that's pretty broken, with stat bonus two time better than the sword we had previously. It's for Cthulhu, but I don't think I needed to tel you that.

Another completely broken piece of loot for Cthulhu. Perhaps the game finish with a solo fight with just Cthulhu and the devs wanted to make sure Cthulhu was powerfull enough? It would be a shame since combat with only one character would be pretty boring.

The idiots haven't leveled once since last time. So we just kill them all in a single attack. :decline:
It's disapointing since in the last game, we had a fight at the end against a mirror party and it was one of the best, since you had to make a few more decision than just "Which attack do you want to use?", even if in the end it was just "kill the healer first". Also group have always been more interesting to fight than single enemies, since it offers more possibilities during combat.

When I started the LP, I thought that the cleric from the opposing group, Elonalina, would join our party, since she has a full set of portrait with different moods in the game files, like the main characters. Well now I think that won't be the case. Perhaps she's for one of the bonus game modes or a left-over from cut content. Instead, as a healer, we got the old cranky Dacre.

Also there's a missed opportunity there: having a competing party would have enhanced the story, with a rivalry which could have helped explained some of the travels we've done: "the other group is trying to solve that crisis, let's solve it first"! Or stumbling (and fighting) on them in one or two of the dungeons and meeting them in the cities for insult exchanges and bar fights. And to avoid samey fights, they could have changed the roster a few time, adding and removing some characters. Also it could have been a story how the two groups came together at the end to win against a BBEG.

I honestly had more difficulty with some of the mobs in the previous floor, mostly those with beetles, since they have lot of HP, only Cthulhu can one-shot them and have a spell that hits all the party and can remove half of the HP from my spellcasters; I think I got one party wipe against such group, because I had bungled the prioritization of the enemy to kill first (or I forgot to use special attacks).
