Stereotypical Villain updated Prisoner of Ice not so long ago, thus for the sake of balance I had to give this a time.

Rymvidas II, The Khan of Lithuania

ojAyT1r.jpg

The desmesne his grandfather left was too large for him to rule over directly, and thus, having no eunuchs in the court, the new King entrusted Grodno to Rimgaudas, a very old man, in the hopes such old man would simply die before leaving any heirs. Of course, should the old man still have the condition of having children, there was always Plan B: letting the Lithuanian Hitman correct that.

s6kdFVP.jpg

Both to attract exceptionally good military leaders to Lithuania, which currently is lacking in such, and to expand the bloodline of the Gediminaitis with superior blood, a matrilineal marriage is arranged for his talented sister. Although Rymvidas yearned to expand, he still would rather wait for his first child so inheritance issues due to how Gavelkind demands the occasional "trimming" of the royal family by those who are expert in such art, for now such expansionist plans were halted.

rU25whD.jpg

Along the raid his grandfather didn't live long enough to see the end of, Rymvidas II, true to his Altaic ancestors, acquired a concubine in the most Altaic way possible, which naturally involves doing to her what, depending on the point of view, was either tasteful or not tasteful at all.

FHbFOId.jpg

Chefe Humanity Has Risen Bryce Fretrider A stupid 15-year old came in preaching that same trite. Unfortunately he was "King" only in being the husband of the ruling queen of Sweden in a matrilineal marriage, rather than a source of a truly generous ransom. He was promptly redirected to RPGWatch released.

qZsEg09.jpg

What?

P0pHOK1.jpg

Rymvidas' first son, Butavas, was born with both brains and brawns, a proud offspring of the legacy of the Neanderthals. If he survived to adulthood, he could become one of the greatest rulers and military leaders in the History of Lithuania, unlike his father, who was more like the lion from the Wizard of Oz, being a very muscular and strong man, but his muscles were not bigger than his cowardice and fear.

5iJusgS.jpg

In another battle of an undeclared war, the crosses burn again with the dead oppressors of the Latvian people.

gvOiVbg.jpg

They may be ruled by a Latvian, but a Latvian Bishop still is nothing but a puppet of Rome, fortunately still distracted by the Middle East to start focusing on the Baltic, which would be very, very, very bad.

IClCVeP.jpg

After Zemigale was raided, Rymvidas II decided the time for raiding was over. He had in ambition what he lacked in courage on the battlefield, and decisively began to prepare Lithuania for a war intent on more than conquest. It was a war with a greater purpose, the purpose of raising the spirit of the old Romuva faith high enough for the Kingdom of Lithuania to be able to transform a disorganized, decentralized and folk belief system into something capable of defying the Romanists in its ability to gain and attract converts, something with a clearer and more relevant message that can stand a chance in the battlefield of minds and souls, for their once great faith has diminished much over the years, and even with preachers being given no chance to preach, their soothing lies are too attractive, and the alternative of the old gods too disjointed and lacking in a clear point, mass appeal and theology to compete with them.

However, first Rymvidas II had to prove to all who still believe in the Baltic gods that there is truthfulness in his intention of transforming Romuva into an organized and State-controlled religion, by reclaimed holy sites lost to crusaders in the past, and raising the dwindling moral authority of the Romuva religion. It won't be easy, but to do so many be the only chance for Lithuania to never have to bend to the new religions, for even if they win in the military field, even if their armies conquer an empire, inevitably they will rule over mostly Christian lands, to which their unreformed religion will never manage to gain new converts.

xvrNwwT.jpg

And there are other possibilities should such reform happen, although Great Holy Wars are rife with risk, for they can transform a local conflict into a continent-spanning disaster if declared without care and readiness.

xPLnd3Z.jpg

Rymvidas II is not a man that is ever content. He always want more, disregarding the lamentations of the women, disregarding the snide comments from those jealous, for he puts the sensual in non-consensual, or at least he thinks he does.

PjEJdRp.jpg

Sometimes, he questioned the old gods, wondering why they did nothing before to stop the Teutonic Order and the very extinction of their worshippers. Always he ended even stronger in his belief and, from such belief, in determination to take control of all Romuva holiest shrines, no matter the cost and enemies that will be made.

JGxue06.jpg

First, he marched to Prussia, to conquer the minor Catholic Prussian counties that rose after the collapse of the Teutonic Order in the region. It was the first step to secure holy sites of the Romuva religion.

AyUfpw8.jpg

Every son after his first would hopefully be entitled High Chief to ensure the desmesne would not be divided.

Y8PsR2U.jpg

Rymvidas was a capable man, and the founder of Lithuania as a kingdom, but in not desiring conquest, he may have made a mistake: The Russians have been united under one banner, and that is obviously bad news, for it means that once fragmented neighbors now are one in purpose, and they will not ignore any moment of weakness from Lithuania they could exploit for avenging the many pillages their boder cities suffered.

Meanwhile,

Butavas was getting some nice education.

WVW6Imk.jpg

QmB9Fwk.jpg

Education doesn't scale to your level.

IUv1d9K.jpg

And thus, Lithuania ended controlling three holy sites.

OcxYKRR.jpg

Yet, it was far from enough. It was almost certain they would need one more, and considering the size and power of the Rus, anything inland was out of question. Only Cape Arkona was left, and because conquest only applies to neighboring regions, they would have to conquer all of Pommerania, province by province, before attempting to conquer the cape, which would not be easy either.

MQ8oXkO.jpg

Rymvidas II' superior strength proved itself essential to help him survive through terrible plagues, and in spite of his lack of balls in the battlefield, he was proving to be a fine tactician, if incapable or unwilling to lead by example and at the frontlines. He became a flat terrain expert.

PxUdWxp.jpg

Most of Latvia has been freed from the Catholic yoke, but Rymvidas was far from content. Yet, this would be as far as Lithuania would expand eastwards for quite a while, because the Khan's ambitions were to the west: Pommerania, once pagans, long oppressed by Polish and German conquerors: conquering Pommerania would be a decisive step to turn Lithuania into a Kingdom of notice, although such notice may draw the attention of the Pope.

K3t95mz.jpg

The conquest of Zemgale was as much of a convenience to handle the issues of Gavelkind succession as of a desire of expansion, for another child got his land, and would no longer receive share of the inheritance in land titles once his father dies.

yFF4CWH.jpg

Far from the barbarian savage Romanist propaganda painted him as, Rymvidas II was a refined man, an avid reader in his spare time.

WEbXrAw.jpg

Cool story.

Fortunately the Rus will be too worried about the Mongols to attack Lithuania, probably.

XgapmB3.jpg

That bastard lowborn somehow was still fertile, but measures were on the way to fix that, but a drunken incompetent allowed for the Lithuanian Hitman plan to slip. Great.

XSY0HTf.jpg

A day to remember, when all of Prussia has been united by the Kingdom of Lithuania and had its Kraut removed from the premises.

EtFJ3Uw.jpg

Yet, lacking in means to rule directly over Marienburg, Rymvidas wisely transformed the region into a clergy-ruled one. He was naturally aware of the irony behind such decision.

ITnCqq1.jpg

Plotting wives are the worst. They should have been made into concubines instead.

ljqKaGS.jpg

Here goes nothing, for the second time.

1ekWSri.jpg

That is how a true Lithuanian does this kind of service.

ptxzz9P.jpg

Another heir gains Grodno, finally cleared up for the Gediminaitis to step in.

WQqI9aK.jpg

Gdansk, a truly valuable city, is no longer part of Poland, but of a Piast "king" in exile of Trebizond. How did that happen? It doesn't matter, for soon the valuable Gdunsk will be a profitable Lithuanian city.

C0HPdrk.jpg

Stillborn and killed the mother. That is a rotten way to die.

Xk6y0c9.jpg

For his efforts in reclaiming the once desecrated holy sites of the Romuva faith, Rymvidas II gained a worthy title, although Martyr implies more than that, it implies inevitable and final self-sacrifice for a cause. Nevertheless, he mostly deserves it, although there could be more fitting ones.

dlDYu4m.jpg

Why are Lithuanian Hitmen murdering competent advisors?

BwtKE6q.jpg

A man with alleged descent from Muhammad now worships Tengri. Nice.

Igv59Tc.jpg

Gdansk would be the last easy conquest in the road to Cape Arkona, from now on, the enemies would be more powerful, and the chances of victory and success much smaller.

OFHHgq8.jpg

But before Rymvidas II considered his next step of westward expansion, bad news arrived to the court. The vast Polish Armies now marched to Prussia, intent on conquering all of Prussian territories.

The Second Prussian Crusade and the Rebirth of the Teutonic Order

Hymn of War

Qgc7ci0.jpg

The ambitions of Poland towards Prussia were gaining dangerous supporters. The Polish army itself outnumbered the Lithuanian army, and Poland was attempting to transform this private war into a full-fledged Crusade against Lithuania through their allegiances, whether the Pope openly supports it or not. This is not good, but it began while Lithuania advanced to conquer one of the last independent Rus territories bordering them, and no matter what, Rimvydas II won't give up that almost finished conquest because of the damn Poles.

3B6woma.jpg

They had to assault the walls of Lepiel to ensure the conclusion of such conquest as the massive Polish army advanced against the Lithuanian forces, an assault that came at a cost of thousand of lives, the Russian defenders fighting to their last and bringing down many Lithuanians in their last stand. Outnumbered but not severely, the Lithuanian Army prepared for this difficult battle ahead, having not time to retreat after the conquest of the region, and weary.

S856uic.jpg

Fortunately, with the extensive reserves in the treasury, a massive warband of Russians was hired to bolster the Lithuanian ranks. All the Lithuanian force in Lepiel had to do was to hold their ground long enough for the reinforcements to arrive.

VBFOwok.jpg

It was a massive and bloody battle, one that could verily define the entire course of this Crusade. The numerical superiority of the Polish light cavalry was the greatest disadvantage for Lithuania, and they were suffering the greater losses from the start due to the numberful enemy archers, in spite of the Polish commanders being much inferior in competence to the Lithuanian ones. Yet they couldn't rout, they had to stand strong until the mercenary army arrives.

J7cyG2t.jpg

Poland won the battle at Lepiel, but they shall not win the war. The retreating Lithuanian Army, after suffering heavy losses, prepares for a stand at Vilnius, the destination of the Rus mercenaries and of a Polish Army hastily advancing in an attempt to crush the defeated Lithuanian Army before the reinforcements arrive. The next battle is a battle Lithuania cannot lose!

Ilf1NU3.jpg

The mercenaries bolstered their ranks, but even then, things were not looking well for Lithuania, because their army still was demoralized by their previous defeat, while the Polish forces, driven with a great fervor, were mostly fresh. Yet, led by superior generals, Lithuania made their stand bravely and capably, and the Poles were paying a high price in lives now. The greatest problem was the outnumbered right flank, which fought bravely and with distinction to hold their ground, but would inevitably collapse. How long the Lithuanian right flank could hold while demoralized and outnumbered at 4:1 would determine the outcome of this very important battle.

iRKieMc.jpg

Although he entrusted his best generals to lead each flank, Rimvydas also participated of the battle, if reluctantly because of a fear of death and cowardice unfit for such a muscular and strong man. It was a hard battle, and he learned some valuable lessons when leading one hundred of the Royal Lithuanian Cavalry into a charge... from behind. The brave Rus mercenaries, lightly armored, were holding out against a flanking attack as well now that the right flank of Lithuania collapsed, while the left flank defended their ground bravely and successfully in spite of being considerably outnumbered.

Yet Rimvydas' fear worked against him as the Polish cavalry intercepted his rearguard, and where once he was leading the cavalry from behind, he and his horse now were being chased and engaged directly, forcing him to man up and fight rather than die like a coward, for fear would mean certain death at that moment, and his death could shatter the morale of his troops in this already hard-fought battle.

SNjXB30.jpg

Surprising many, Rimvydas II fought with great valor when his life depended on it, bypassing for that moment his usual cowardice. His unexpected and brave advance after killing some of his pursuers, and his act of leading a cavalry charge up front against the exposed flank of an enemy army were even more inspiring because of how unexpected it was for him to display such bravery in battle, granting much prestige to "The Martyr", defender of the last pagan Kingdom on Europe, whose acts of bravery, whose heart with newfound courage shall be remembered as the Polish armies retreat, their crusade finally defeated. Yet arrogantly, they still refused to recognize their defeat, and prepared more and more of their men to die for their false god.

fzm94LS.jpg

Over twenty thousand Polish crusaders were utterly exterminated, hunted down until none was left alive other than deserters. The gods have granted victory for Lithuania! To Krakow! Let their desperate prayers fall on deaf ears!

Meanwhile, thanks to the Lithuanian master of spies and hitmen, from Holland, new tactics and better means of military organization were "borrowed".

RpXYPnV.jpg

Yet, even as the original crusader forces were wiped out, more fanatics were being levied to die, and the Rus mercenaries were too expensive to stay in the army much longer, and soon would have to be dismissed.

HwvTNMh.jpg

The Lithuanian army marched right to the gates of the royal castle in Krakow, besieging their capital, and yearning to pillage their churches, the source of such drivel that propels them to defy Lithuania. Rimvydas looks at the sights of Krakow visible from outside, confident one day he or his offspring shall march triumphantly inside this city as conqueror.

kzOSBaX.jpg

However, the Polish King levied another, smaller army to put an end to the siege of Krakow. Confident in the superior skills of his generals, Rimvydas did not take the coward's path of retreating before the Polish force arrived, a risky decision considering the outcome of the last battle where Lithuania was outnumbered.

EZbRQgU.jpg

Through trickery, the Polish force had their advance delayed, lured out of Krakow by levies raised in Prussia tasked to circumvent the Polish forces and reach the siege of Krakow. They performed such task admirably, and the Polish army advanced against Krakow while reinforcements were on the way. The resulting battle was another great victory for Lithuania.

However, Poland hired a large mercenary army near Krakow, and thus the siege was cancelled, and instead the Lithuanian army marched in pursuit of such mercenaries while they were vulnerable.

dbhLumB.jpg

The mercenaries were defeated, but now, in their attempt to drag all of Christendom against Lithuania, the Poles convinced Bohemia, the same country responsible for the successful crusasde for their "holy" city of Jerusalem, to join this conflict before the Potato was further roasted.

yLOCiYG.jpg

On an unrelated note, part of Bohemia belonged to the independent Kingdom of Jerusalem, ruled by a Bohemian from the same dynasty. Hopefully this will not mean another ally for Poland. The Mongol Empire has forever changed the Middle East and Central Asia, where Tengri is the most worshipped god, but the religion of "peace" still resists, and is far from defeated. a French Kingdom of Anatolia, the independent Oriental Orthodox Armenia born of decades of war and sacrifice for their freedom, the somehow still alive Eastern Roman Empire and the opportunistic Venice are other important players in this region.

7D5YdVD.jpg

Why is there always a kingcomrade? What a hypocrite, defying the sovereign rule of Lithuania, then sending preachers?

1593G3a.jpg

Slowly Rimvydas was learning to overcome his fear, to crush both Polish and other crusader armies and to personally fight in the thick of the battle. Personally slaughtering hundreds of skirmishers in a dangerous charge have demonstrated that he may yet change as a person, and overcome his own fear. Such deeds were remembered.

BqJMKet.jpg

While Persian revolts threatened to expel the Mongol Empire from the Middle East, the Muslims, far from admitting defeated, declared another Jihad, this time for Mesopotamia. Fighting countless rebellions, the Mongols may lose this conflict. What happened there served as a valuable lesson for the future of Lithuania, and is a good example of why the first Rimvydas was so reluctant about expansion into heathen territories.

HBaHSVU.jpg

batalla-de-liegnitz-1241-mongoles-vs-orden-teutc3b3nica.jpg

Sensing the way the Mongol Empire has grown weaker, an enemy once thought to have been utterly vanquished by Lithuania and peasant revolts once again rises, this time over a completely different frontline for their false religion, and with a much riskier goal. Hopefully, no matter how many hard times the Mongol Empire faces, the Teutonic Order will never carve enough territory through conquest to become a threat again.

Also, Orthodox Christianity is pretty dead outside of Russia, because of the utter collapse of the ERE.

70TInyJ.jpg

The war continued for a long time, Poland refusing to give up after countless crushing defeats, and from the fight, Rimvydas learned hatred. Merciless pursuing routing armies, charging against their ranks in a manner where his hatred of the enemy was greater than his fears, he would become a greater general, but with wroth came recklessness and risk.

oRuQvBW.jpg

The bastard continued calling more and more allies to his private Crusade...

kNvE23t.jpg

Rimvydas, a man who lived in fear of death for most of his life, ironically died shortly after overcoming his craven and cowardly ways, in a brave charge against enemy forces during the battle, a battle his own son Butavas I, young but extremely talented, was participating of. His Altaic and Lithuanian forefathers would be proud.

:salute:

2zZlZwT.jpg

Butavas, superior to most in both intelligence and strength, finds a perfect future spouse, another gifted kid that will ensure the continuation of such truly royal bloodline of Lithuanian-Altaic übermensch, and perhaps ensure his future heir shall have a 180 IQ.

Y5HVmVM.jpg

The war was won, but the Poles were too dumb to realize that.

QxcbsYk.jpg

But the King of Poland would soon face the consequences of his completely failed crusade.

pND1T6E.jpg

Yet, when the first significant armies allied to Poland arrived in the battlefield, it became obvious why Poland haven't given up. Lithuania, despite all victories so far, still was under the threat of losing Prussia, for more and more legions of crusaders from many different kingdoms marched to the Baltic coast. The royal treasury would be needed again.

0XoxRRd.jpg

Cuman horse archers were hired to bring to the Lithuanian Army enough power to stand a chance against those over twenty thousand crusaders in another decisive battle.

q3AXKOA.jpg

Rimvydas II died bravely in battle, but not before having one last child with one of his concubines. This would mean trouble because of Gavelkind succession unless that children was given a duchy... or the poisoned blade of a Lithuanian hitman.

oIX3kmy.jpg

The ensuing battle was essentially a slaughter from the start, the swarm of Cuman horse archers delivering massive losses while the Lithuanian army tried to distract the enemy masses and leave them more vulnerable to the Cumans.

6CiBb1g.jpg

Yet, after all these immense losses, the arrogant King of Poland still refused to give up, and even more arrogantly, he assumed he was winning the war? Hah! Hunt them down like the skulls of pig they are!

qyaYck2.jpg

Rather than giving up, the King of Poland continued to drag more countries into this failure. This would only increase his shame once he has no choice but to surrender.

xawJl1g.jpg

After winning that decisive battle, the Cumans were dismissed as they would be too expensive, and the Lithuanian forces were raised again to finish the job. Also, somehow the Piasts have spread into Italy.

SziRKe9.jpg

Damn. Hunt them down!

ZNKc3a6.jpg

And so, the arrogant King met his demise, captured and humiliated by Butavas I, he was forced to surrender, paying a heavy tribute to Lithuania after being dragged around and publically shunned in a tour in Vilnius. This was a great victory for Lithuania and for all the Baltic gods and their faithful! Finally, after so many years of war, after so many good men dead, it ended.

5PFwc2e.jpg

Yet, after such glorious victory that showed to several crusading kingdoms who the Baltics belong to, after such great morale boost, the Romuva religion still was very far away from becoming more than a stubborn remnant of the past, limited to where it has always been practiced and no further than that. Arkona was still very far, and to free it from the Christ-men a bloody war with Denmark, probably as powerful and strong in their alliances as Poland, would be needed. Yet now an immediate conquest of a Polish border territory was far more tempting, for the Polish kingdom was severely weakened, and the gold paid in tribute was far from enough considering that all of Prussia would have been lost to Poland had they won.

It is time to teach Poland a lesson they won't forget...

Russia, Russia never changes

fnQL6oP.jpg

When Lithuania was about to start a war for the conquest of Plock, the sniveling teenager King of Rus declared a "holy war" for Polotsk, clearly in an attempt of showing power to compensate for something.

As for the seemingly natural death of Butavas' half-brother, conveniently preventing issues with Gavelkind succession. It was because of natural causes, honestly.

No, really. There was no Lithuanian Hitman involved in that.

Really. Hitmen don't do it for free. Or would there be one so patriotic he did it for the greater good of the Kingdom? Nah, that is wishful thinking.

8PT5r5Z.jpg

7nDhaeZ.jpg

As if being about to meet a massive horde of Russian scum was not enough, some malcontent Humanity Has Risen types have risen. Good thing Lithuania has lots of full coffers, because they will inevitably need them soon.

fGg2TDd.jpg

Along Russian poorly thought mobilizations, a smaller part of their armies was intercepted and crushed in Lepiel, but it was known they had more, much more, thus one wrong move could be disastrous.

40FyaM2.jpg

A massive Russian Army approaches the Lithuanian borders, significantly outnumbering the Lithuanian Army, which would stand no chance without mercenary aid.

tMXkeLs.jpg

Russian mercenaries, ironically, were hired for the job, twice because a poorly thought maneuver would end dooming them, and thus they had to be disbanded and hired again. The larger Russian horde thus chased the mercenaries, allowing for another smaller Russian force to be slaughtered. Attrition was making the Russians suffer as well, but soon there would be a great battle, for that Russian force would fiercely pursue the "race traitors" into Kernave.

bZksl2B.jpg

Greatly diminished by attrition, they now were in a state where the Russian mercenaries could defeat them on their own.

cBIVaBi.jpg

The Russians were taught a painful lesson in this day, but that was not the end of it. Within the retreating army the arrogant King of Rus lied, and if he was caught, the war would be over. Onward!

BxfmgkN.jpg

Where is your god now?

741uR01.jpg

After being humiliated and paraded across Vilnius, the pathetic King of the Rus had no choice but to pay heavy tributes for the end of the war and spit on a burning church.

ZUS25mp.jpg

6VDQJcp.jpg

As for the rebel scum, they were quickly crushed, their beloved chapels razed to the ground.

9bPb6Er.jpg

This would not be the end of this. The Russians are scum, they tried to take over Daugava and Lepiel, and now, considering it is de jure part of the Kingdom of Lithuania, they shall lose Polotsk! Butavas has seen how weak they have grown, dragged into countless wars, shortly after their crushing defeat in Vilnius.

6sepOgo.jpg

DEATH TO RUSSIA!

PC43heG.jpg

There is not much to be done about diseases, not in this day and age.

Nac54TE.jpg

Islam is a dying religion. North Africa was conquered by Mongols as was much of the Middle East. The Levant is firmly in the hands of Bohemian Crusaders and the Hospitaller Knights, and only in the deserts of Arabia their remnants still survive, but are ultimately doomed.

ipkbmrb.jpg

Lithuania began the wise practice of inviting capable men to the court when lacking in truly exceptional locals. From North Africa, a Berber who raises his sword to Tengri instead of bowing to Allah was brought.

fSfu4L3.jpg

Butavas captured both a mother and her daughter of noble blood and stunning beauty after the siege of Polotsk.

Guess what happens?

CpaUUkF.jpg

josef-fritzl.jpg

oVKFuKB.jpg

In a great battle, tragedy befell Lithuania, for King Butavas was maimed. He is a strong man, but he may now be doomed to death, and his only heir is a newborn girl. Hopefully it won't happen.

w8A3Oi0.jpg

One of the reasons for the collapse of Novgorod and rise of the Kingdom of the Rus, the Bogomilist HERESY that overtook Novgorod, and still survives in part of Karelia. The old man was given some mercy and released, or arguably none, because the Orthodox hate Bogomils, while Lithuania doesn't care. HERESY has been common in Orthodox Christianity since the utter collapse of the Eastern Roman Empire.

NQFA1dd.jpg

Butavas, unlike his father, was a courageous man, insisting on fighting the good fight even after being maimed. He learned a lot from the conflict, and was become a better commander.

xg01txr.jpg

A new, powerful alliance would soon be made, as one of Butavas sisters would marry the Khagan of the Mongol Empire.

2QJTnil.jpg

Fortunately, Butavas had his first son, as bright as him but not both intelligent and strong like him. Hopefully Gedivilas would survive childhood.

NpiirPK.jpg

Even after being maimed, Butavas has shown to know no fear in battle, unlike his father. His valorous attitude has made many admire him and was truly what Lithuania needed to secure their future instead of succumbing to the ever greater pressure of Christianity all around them.

ntADcr5.jpg

Some things never change, but eventually they will be put in their place.

MzjQ38b.jpg

When the Russian Army coming for Polotsk showed up, Alan horse archers were hired to give Lithuania better chances of victory. The waited patiently to arrive and reinforce the Lithuanian army once the battle begins, and deliver a crushing blow against Russia.

4NXtR6m.jpg

Butavas bravery and skills in battle were sharpened with every battle. His excellent health ensured he would live in spite of the amputation of a leg, and the maimed conqueror would be feared by all the enemies of Lithuania.

6gcgUSx.jpg

Like skulls of pig, the Russians were crushed, and now there was no more way for them to refuse surrender. Butavas briefly considering crowning this victory with an even greater feat, but he realized the risks were not worth...

v9hwD4V.jpg

Besides, the Queen of Russia was too ugly to be an interesting concubine for him.

The Russians would not dare to invade Lithuania so soon after this. Yet, after all these great victories, the Romuva religion still lacked enough moral authority for a reform. The conquest of Cape Arkona from the mighty Denmark could be the only chance for that, and considering how much of Scandinavia Denmark controls and how it would require conquering much of Pommerania first, it would be anything but easy.

TO BE CONTINUED.

This is a watershed in this thread, you'll see why in the end of this update. And because of how really important this watershed is itt, there will be for a change options for you to vote for. And they are very important too, bringing totally different consequences that will completely change the future of this AAR.

==============================

CouncilofClermont.jpg

LivoniaKnight.jpg

The Beginning of the End

M30a8cb.jpg

Advances continue to happen over Lithuania, with an increase in the administrative and legal means for direct rule for the King being one of the highest priorities in the cultural field.

719cAZG.jpg

Polotsk becomes a valuable title to prevent fragmentation because of Gavelkind, but now there is no more titles to share to other children of the King.

t9JjRlq.jpg

While the armies are recovering for a new expansionistic drive, Butavas had another son, which means expansion is necessary to given him a ducal title, allowing the current kingdom's desmesne to remain undivided.

R1O4hqg.jpg

Of course, there is an advantage of security in having many children, but it is always hard to manage for the best future of the kingdom.

WCrnmAt.jpg

Then, in the year of 1317, a tragedy began to unfold from the worst Giltine could concoct. A terrible plague began to bring massive deaths to Prussia, and it was spreading quickly. Not even the wealthy and noble were spared, for it likewise afflicted those from the most decadent gutter to the highest palace, leaving behind a toll never seen before by any other kind of plague. Some believed such was Giltine, the goddess of death personified, for it was truly frightening and deadly.

uIAX0Yh.jpg

Kernave wouldn't be spared for much longer. The very life of the King was at stake. All precautions were being taken, but there wasn't much to be done. Butavas has chosen to lead his men into battle once more, this time to finish the liberation of Latvia from the false god and the Catholic Church, for he would rather risk his life in the battlefield than waiting for the black death to claim him inside his castle.

UfbZiqJ.jpg

It was another trivial conquest, and now all Baltic peoples were united under Lithuania.

lgxQvEl.jpg

The Black Death continued to ravage through Lithuania, yet so far Butavas has been blissfully spared.

TLlMjF6.jpg

Meanwhile, in the Middle East, the previous setbacks have meant nothing. Islam now is clearly and without a doubt a dying faith. The Mongols have expanded dramatically over the Middle East, and it is only a matter of time before they turn their attention to Europe instead, hopefully before the Catholic Church turns their attention to the Baltic. Having those Polish and Russian scumbags with their massive armies and ambitions set over Lithuania even after their past defeats already is enough trouble without a Crusade.

zwJ8MhB.jpg

z82l28K.jpg

The Plague has hit the capital, while some rebel humanity has risen against the "devil's puppet king". Butavas didn't waste time, and led an army to crush the rebels, and hopefully avoid the plague while on the move.

pAyxRCJ.jpg

Close people are starting to become afflicted. If Butavas dies now, the kingdom will be internally divided. This is not good.

Fortunately, Butavas outlived the dreaded Black Death by advancing with his soldiers. He lost some of his children, but such is life in the middle ages.

Epic Score - Prepare for the End

Then, as another trivial conquest against the remnants of the Livonian Order was on the way, the scum of Poland once again has launched a crusade for Prussia, gathering their massive legions to assault Lithuania. And they would most certainly not do it alone, for they are cowards, Slavic scum barely better than Russian scum who rely on massed numbers to compensate for their weakness in courage and personal strength.

For some funny reason, while the falafel was utterly removed from the Levant, the Reconquista never achieved complete success, and the stupid Kingdom of Castille gave land to the Teutonic Order in Iberia.

GgZASCr.jpg

As the situation of Lithuania grows dire, Butavas became less of an edgy, jaded and cynical king. Pessimism was not a good trait in these times, for hope was needed for one to not succumb to despair.

The Polish scum have drawn to their "holy" war not only their massive armies, but also the even more massive armies of England and Bulgaria, making of this conflict a true crusade, a state of near total war between Lithuania and the Catholic world, considering how many of the mightiest Catholic kingdoms are supporting Poland. Lithuania lacks in numbers, and mercenaries are too expensive to be relied upon for anything other than one or two major battles at most. Yet, there still could be victory.

The victory against the Livonian Order could ultimately become a hollow victory, for a massive army advanced against them in Tartu, and new mercenaries would take too long to reinforce the weary men holding that province. A defeat here would not be bad, it would be a disaster that would erase any hopes of victory for Lithuania, specially now that the English have sent an army of over forty-thousand Crusaders to the Baltic. Against such numbers, the cynics would argue only intervention by the gods could bring victory.

The battle was shaping into a tragedy, and the hired mercenaries would arrive to late to stop it...

With his retreating army, Butavas swore to fight to his last breath, and he refused to give up, in spite of how vastly the enemy outnumbered their armies, specially after the terrible defeat at Tartu. They may conquer Prussia, but they will pay a high price for it!

Over Rezekne, the arrogant English were so confident in their victory they never sent reinforcements. It was there that heroes would be made, no matter how futile this may ultimately be, for even if this is the twilight of the gods, it will be a twilight with burning crosses and fanatics choking on their our blood. Victory or death!

:salute:

However, the English legions are many, and this victory may have been devastating to them, but still far from enough to change the outcome of this hopeless conflict, where over sixty thousand crusaders are attacking Lithuania, while the treasury of the Kingdom will soon be unable to afford the Russian mercenaries. Another of such crushing victories is needed to save Lithuania, something near impossible considering the numbers and odds against them.

Then, at Chelmno, the disaster came. First they delivered massive casualties to an isolated enemy army, but they brought reinforcements, and massively outnumbered, the Lithuanian forces had no choice but to retreat, a disastrous retreat with an immense cost in lives.

Lithuania has lost the war on the conventional battlefield. Only a masterful Hitman operation could save Prussia from falling to the Potato scum now.

After the Battle of Chelmno, the Lithuanian Army was utterly defeated. It was only out of sheer stubborness that surrender didn't come, for defeat at this point was inevitable. The mercenary army was disbanded, for their wages ran the coffers of Lithuania dry, and the remnants of the Lithuanian levies, they would stand absolutely no chance. The King's retinue of cavalry had to be disbanded, otherwise it would have been annhilated by the massive legions after them.

"Why have the gods forsaken us?" from Kernave, the infamous words of Butavas would echoe and be registered in the History of Lithuania. There was no more hope. All they could do was to make them pay the heaviest price possible for such conquest, through massive attrition. Lithuania has lost...

Unless the allies of Poland were to suddenly perish, but at the point such a devious and truly Lithuanian way of turning the tide of this war was ready to be put in action, it could already be too late. Besides, Lithuania has literally nothing left. Even if all allies left them, Poland would still win. Yet, this was sought not for victory, but for revenge. Let them taste death, let them choke on their own blood, begging for mercy where there is none.

LET THEM EXPLODE IN A PIT OF SHIT TO MEET THEIR GOD!

Butavas actually dreamed of taking that bitch Queen of England as a concubine, but that was far beyond the capabilities of his kingdom. Thus, a grisly fate by the hands of the masters in the craft would be reserved for her, and it would happen soon, for her court had many who hated her enough to be willing to make deals with "heathens" for the sake of bringing her death.

Lithuania has survived the Black Death, but the winds were clearly blowing with dark tidings, of something much worse than the Bubonic Plague about to strike this great kingdom, much, much worse.

vbvVZPL.jpg

This is the beginning of the end for Lithuania, for, as if the gigantic hordes from Poland, England and Bulgaria and the almost certain loss of Prussia weren't enough bad news, the gaze of the Unholy See has been cast upon the Baltic, now that they have long secured their "holy lands" in Jerusalem, with Islam ceasing to be a threat, it was only a matter of time.

Losing Prussia means a terrible setback.

Losing the Crusade for Lithuania means the complete annihilation of the Lithuanian Kingdom and of the Gediminaitis dynasty.

Yet, even with the heavy attrition they shall suffer, with the armies of Lithuania decimated, this situation may mean the utter annihilation of Lithuania. The gods seem to have abandoned Lithuania, and perhaps now there is no other option than to convert to their vile religion, not honestly, but cynically, to then later, through the use of the masters of the craft, ensure all children of Butavas that converted to those lies shall die, leaving the throne again to a heathen, and thus saving Prussian and Lithuania at the cost of damnation for Butavas. Should Butavas convert to Catholicism or fight to the death, risking a 99.99999999999999% certain total annihilation of Lithuania and of his dynasty?

1) Yes, it is the only choice. The Hitmen shall later bring Lithuania back to the old gods*.

2) Never! Fight to the last breath against these Catholic tyrants, oppressors and fanatics!

*As they historically did by putting Mindaugas down after he converted to Orthodoxy

=============

Trash

Choo choo Crusade rape train ahead!

Looks like this is the end of the road. Options are essentially Convert or Die. There is absolutely no way to survive for Lithuania at this point, so think well about which choice to vote for, because voting for 2 almost certainly means there will be only one more update at best depicting the ultimate demise of Lithuania powerless to do anything but witness their forts falling to sieges one by one, while the conversion in 1 can be reverted through masterful hitman jobs later.
