Looks like it's for a set number of kills. 5 or 10 I'd guess.

Unhappy with the ease at which we're fucking shit up, canine-hating Ulminati gives Hoverdog some third-degree burns.

Reporting for duty, preferably as a riflefag. :salute:

I really should try newest builds of Xeno soonish.

Was that a purple heart medal? At least that will increase my bravery, for just a tiny bit. :salute:
I'm actually pretty sure your bravery is ridiculously high, you're just paranoid :M

Most medals are for kills or time served, with the purple heart for if you come back from deaths door. In the month summary I'll do a piece on medals, just for you, bro.

No... No, I don't have a snappy comeback to that one. That is pretty paranoid. It's not like we've encountered any aliens consisting of living steel yet, right... :M

Update 20: Moar Dakka 2: The Dakkening

22nd Oct - 1st Nov

The Brazilian who? Our scientists have discovered this beauty and suddenly everyone forgets whose wake we're celebrating.
WWw0ekB.png

The next UFO wave descends on us, and...
qLiKqFO.jpg

...It's fucking horrible. We have no way of dealing with those Medium UFO's over Australia and don't have the concentrated firepower to take out the one with what looks like fighter escorts.
82MohGG.png

Azira is spoilt for choice as we research a pistol that Dirty Harry would be proud of. Well, two actually - anyone want to volunteer to be the first to try them out? :smug:
sjqhxPn.png

The Zephyr Rifle seems rather underwhelming, being unable to penetrate a cyst at medium range.
yb2EfCR.jpg

Nevill is laying down a strong claim to take over the late Gregsy's crown as champion machine gunner.
kuXc52u.jpg

Gaius Maximus is continuing having a bad day, being hit by a scatter of light plasma after his rocket completely fails to hit the target, coming closer to taking out another of his my bros.
EboluVf.jpg

A random Gargol appears! Wandering past Ulmianti, we don't ask questions, just snap up the offer.
JHqqgxp.jpg

Azira gets bombarded with vortex before Hoverdog comes to the rescue! Except, she fails, and Nevill comes to the rescue with a hopeful smoke.
bNSM1Yv.jpg

What a familiar sight
JixB5fP.jpg

Hoverdog is knocked unconscious as the bodies pile up.
amJwF24.jpg

Stechyo gets shot at as he traverses the 2nd floor of this building. Upon inspection, he sees a Sebillian right below him - and his new weapons system has a much more devastating effect.
4Mw0FXv.jpg

Cracking return to form, Grommit! Not seen - Ulminati leading the charge and burning all in his way.
lgdMBuT.png

Oh baby, now we're talking!
Gj6kShz.png

Corvette's keep ravaging the surface as we lose our race with the sun, touching down to battle Caesun's in the dark.
i6QipS6.jpg

Copious amounts of our new Alenium explosives help blast our way forwards, first killing that Caesun and then making a Viper implode.
Rl32aMq.jpg

A second Viper makes it close before receiving the full brunt of our firepower. Bane makes quick work of another guard.
t7OH524.jpg

Ashery gets smacked in the chops by a rather hefty shot, I suspect from a Harridan we'd lost track of somewhere to the south. Unused to pain, our highest ranking officer is quickly reduced into a quivering wreck, needing help to stop himself from bleeding out.
AyJh4Ba.jpg

Gaius Maximus, with his new warheads, reduces it to a fine pink mist.
7QXOH1S.jpg

The psyker is killed at the door of the UFO and Hoverdog leads the breaching party as a few brave souls sweep the rest of the map.
ULuYIm1.jpg

We may have ceded the skies, but there's always time for tea and medals :smug:
6nlb9ub.png

The final action before the end of the month is for us to research a new shotgun. Things are looking positively rosy :bounce:

Update 21: November Interlude

1st Nov

The list of our slain is constantly rising. May their failures bravery never be forgotten :salute:
6yrf6qm.jpg

Retardoland is fully developed though not what I would call optimal. Being our only fully operational base it has had to evolve to counter the immediate threat and be our production and researching command station while other bases get developed.
Wagu4Xb.jpg

General Discussion is coming along nicely and may soon be able to house backup to our A-Team. The twenty engineers will soon be put to work cranking out the superior weaponry we've researched.
Kuy2IQ1.jpg

Site Feedback will become a fully fledged outpost as soon as we can get some more fighter jets manufactured.
dbzbN5X.jpg

The focus we've had on researching has begun to bare fruit. We cannot fall behind in the arms race.
lqW7zDl.jpg

:salute: Major Ashery, despite being a Kwan, has not yet given into the urge to shoot a bro in the back. Some may claim his amazing Kill:Mission ratio is down to him being the only sniper, others (such as himself) claim it is because he's from the greatest country on Earth, fuck yeah! Whatever the hell that means. He has the Long Service Medal, the prestigious Order of Terra and a Military Cross.
QoPe6N8.png

:salute: Gaius Maximus, despite being a sprog at the tender age of 21, had already seen combat within his homeland of Argentina. Maybe that is where he got a taste for killing his brothers? On his chest he bears the Service Medal, the Order of Merit and a Crimson Heart - proving that a good write-up from your OC tops nearly killing yourself with your own weapon system.
YwzbqIe.png

:salute: Captain Ulminati may not have seen any upgrades to his flamer, but he still purges Xenos souls effectively enough. While not as clean an assault weapon as a shotgun, he has proved how devastating it is time and time again. He has been awarded the Service Medal, the Order of Terra, a Crimson Heart and the Military Cross.
d2WxJdm.png

:salute: Dextermorgan, our resident hot Vietnamese chick, has quietly climbed the ranks. Clearly the higher ranking officers are impressed by her long time loving because I've not been impressed on the battlefield. She has the Service Medal, the Order of Gallantry and a Crimson Heart.
uCklSbn.png

:salute: Young Paxton, while not receiving the screen time of our late, great, Pollack gunner, has definitely done his fair share of heroics for which he has been given a Service Medal, an Order of Terra and a Military Cross.
lEaqSC7.png

:salute: Stechyo has done well as a rifleman, even if he has the same reaction time as a stoned turtle. Solid, dependable, with a knack for not dying - exactly what I need in the backbone of the squad. He deserves his Order of Gallantry and Crimson Heart.
mHRnedh.png

:salute: The man, the legend, Lieutenant Azira - gentleman, soldier, coward. Also apparently the Bravest of our lot. Who said stats never lie? His medals are all to do with not dying, the only thing he is good at, a Service Medal and a Crimson Heart.
4iFDXG6.png

:salute: Grimgravy has come flying out of his corner and is in the team before the more experienced Hoverdog. As a pom, he is used to everything being out to kill him.
Ga6kVTP.png

:salute: Despite being a damn dirty Jew, Hoverdog earns her pay through honest skill and graft. And I'll be honest - I'd do her :smug: On her lovely chest she wears the Order of Gallantry and a Crimson Heart.
aLrkuCz.png

:salute: After Gaius Maximus' domestic problems and his constant whining, Nevill has been given a rocket launcher. Use it wisely, because you can't aim for shit. His sole medal is the Order of Merit.
E44ErnB.png

:salute: Lightbane has been overlooked but boasts an amazing Kill:Mission ratio, doubly so for being a rifleman. He remains the only 'light' role Xenonaut to eschew body armour in favour of huge amounts of boom.

Update 22: Ain't No Grave

1st Nov - 3rd Nov

Good news everybody! Because the Xenos are now bringing bigger guns, we can now steal / reverse-engineer them for our own use!
W5ikDUl.png

Fresh after payday, some new brew bitches come in the door and instantly get tasked with all the mundane shit our more experienced blokes don't want to do.
dnKXTEo.png

hOGzjHC.png

ydnPd6d.png

Bad news everybody! After rejigging our squadron compositions, we now lack anything strong enough to cope with a sudden wave of Medium-sized UFOs. Taking a risk, we send our dropship to a parked Corvette and shuffle our jets.
KWjOvYq.png

Officers. Horrible creatures. I salute avoid them whenever I can.
YZ9XP8S.png

Definitely not a Chysallid :M
ISmjLjG.jpg

Debussing from the Chinook, Stechyo puts a Sebillian guard into the ground with two sweet bursts of his Zephyr assault rifle.
cf0FyDw.jpg

Azira scouts to the south but the immediate action is up north where Grimgravy and Ulminati use smoke to cover their manly charge across open terrain
F1KIYl4.jpg

He may be a coward, but our glorious shieldmaiden has good eyes.
6ZNfyxQ.jpg

Corregated iron shed is a poor place to take cover when your enemy has alenium based explosives :smug:
RXRi8G4.jpg

The Chrysallid survives everything we chuck at it until only Stechyo has enough TU's left for a snap shot. Like a boss, he makes it count, saving our collective arses :salute:
o219Uyk.jpg

With our assault force busy sweeping down the north side of the map, I make the tactical decision, upon seeing two fucking Gargols hidden within these rocky spires, to run away with our tails well and truly tucked between our legs :M
WoYhNkV.jpg

After a number of boring turns spent repositioning we prepare to take the UFO for glory and profit.
o3C81SF.jpg

Gaius Maximus gives the door the old size 90mm master key and... shock! Horror! Azira kills something! :O
AMSri9q.jpg

At the time, I did not believe this cunt was the officer we were told about at the start of the mission.
40BtcPv.jpg

After repeated attempts of Ulminati setting it on fire fails, and it shakes off every shot from our small arms, that thought still didn't cross my mind :M
CuzHTXr.jpg

Which means I may have just blown up an unconscious officer, because I definitely did not see it die :troll:
h4BFAbB.jpg

0% chance to hit? No worries, I have an area attack weapon!
xuopmSQ.jpg

Paxton Fettel and Ashery use a tactic I call "Exploit shite enemy AI" to lure the Gargols into the open for easy removal, although they did need Ulminati to rush out of the UFO like a goddamn hero and torch the survivor.
mYH8bnB.jpg

Clearing out eggs from tight spaces is a massive pain in the arse, as Azira and Ulminati find out.
h0ZQhIp.jpg

All in all; quick, painless, there were no problems and I'm not that rusty. Stechyo bossed the early parts of the mission, saving the day especially with the Chysallid, then Ulminati became king with his flamethrower in the narrow corridors of the alien ship.
