SOGWOOD II: BUREAUCRAT VERSUS THE SCALY MENACE

Day 1

CE2-002.png

By Jove, we finally landed! All this airship travel was giving me airsickness. Spent most of the trip in my cabin, a really unpleasant journey. All I could dream of, during the nights aboard the floating contraption, were orphans begging me for cabbage. Bloody street urchins, here's hoping there are none of those here in Sogwood.

We disembarked on the edge of the Jungle near the Savannah, plenty of open space around to erect structures. Also a fishperson tried to attack us, luckily Her Majesty's 15th Foot Guard filled it full of bullets.

CE2-003.png

Some of the lot they sent with me here seem to be a bit, well, dull. Apart from the fact that most of them are probably former thieves, frauds, murders or tax dodgers fleeing from the pursuit of Empire's law and tax enforcement.

CE2-004.png

The lazy sods barely put a roof over my new Sawmill and yet another fishperson attacks us. Luckily the riflemen convinced it to go scream "Ia! Ia!" in the afterlife.

CE2-006.png

The foraging team discovered deposits of Haematite and Malachite in the east. Also they found more orange fungus. Bloody hell, could they find something more edible? One might as well be chewing orange rubber. Oh Holy Cog, what I would give for a proper meal...

Day 2

CE2-007.png

It seems that the proles have taken interest in protecting themselves from the hostile environment. I received no less than five written requests for ordering "dark hooded cloaks" from the Home Counties with the next supply Airship, and three for "ornate jewelled knives with an oceanic motif".

Meanwhile the sawmill is operational, although at a very basic level. Work has began on the kitchen.

CE2-008.png

Another fishperson was spotted today. I wonder where do these things keep coming from, do they grow on local trees? I think I should request that they sent a Royal Biologist to investigate.

CE2-009.png

The useless dolts at the Ministry sent me more rabble. Good, I need more heads ,untainted by more than the very basic of thoughts, to do my biding.

CE2-010.png

Mr. Tatch quickly got his hands on one of the smelly common folk and sent him to work on making us more planks.

Basically work crews are composed of an Overseer and proles who do his bidding. Proles come in a variety of professions but you are free to assign them to any work as you wish. You can't do that with higher class citizens (artists, poets, capitalists, aristocrats, scientists and such).

Overseers can claim one workshop (for life) and do minor non-workshop specific tasks in between, like mining, farming, foraging and similar. Overseers decide what is done and a work crew can only do one task at a time.

CE2-011.png

Fishpeople continue to be a nuisance. I swear you can't walk even five feet ourside the settlement without hearing them gurgle or shout "Ia Ia", "Quaggaroth fhtang" or other nonsense in Stahlmarkian. Perhaps that Darwin fellow was right, while proper Men come from apes, Stahlmarkians may come from fishpeople. Would explain a great deal.

CE2-012.png

The Kitchen is mostly done, work has begun in the Chilli Pepper fields. I also gave the ordered to cut down the trees in the north as we are running low on planks.

Day 3

CE2-013.png

The new construction supplies arrived, hopefully these will be enough to finish the last oven in the kitchen.

CE2-014.png

As I was drawing up the plans for the worker's barracks over a cup of morning tea, I heard the sounds of gunfire. These fishpeople are relentless.

CE2-015.png

Foundations are barely done and guess what? More fishpeople come. I am starting to believe they are the orphans of the jungle. Only instead of cabbage they beg for your flesh.

Day 4

CE2-016.png

Gilbert Currie has been awfully involved in certain suspicious matters recently. It seems that after I rejected the last few B3-G requisition forms for "non-euclidean furniture", "mood-setting candles" and "tomes of cosmic knowledge" on the basis of them being written by illterate bufoons (honestly, who write "cosmic" as "kosmeek"), forms written in handwriting suspiciously similar to his appeared on my desk.

Also there is talk of him being fascinated by all the ways in which a man can end the life of another man.

CE2-017.png

He's also concerned with the wellbeing of others and the plight of man. I think he may be a dirty socialist. I need to check his quarters for Novyrus pamphlets.

I cannot act rash however, as without him my soldiers will run around like headless chickens. I'll need a new NCO, sadly these concripts he leads around have no clue how to run a military. Guess I will have to tolerate this a bit too red officer of the redcoats, for now.

CE2-018.png

The air today was filled with cries of "Ia Ia" and the rather obnoxious sounds of gurgling. You could smell the comming danger, for despite being aquatic creatures living in the water, these fishpeople stink similar to a Rivetside courtesean that hasn't bathed in forever. Then again, considering the lovely copper-shade the river there has, who could blame her. Not that I'd ever use the services of such, no Sir. That would be rather improper of a bureaucrat.

CE2-020.png

The attack came from the south. Luckily the soldiers quickly dispatches these fishy foes.

Meanwhile my socialist-leaning NCO seems to have taken fancy of a certain Victoriana. No doubt they are committing such hideous godless acts as fornicating with the light on and without using a hole in the sheets, as could be expected from Novyrusian thralls.

CE2-021.png

Benedict Irontatchworth, a seemingly unremarkable fellow who came to my attention recently. I saw him showing off what he called a "blade perfect fer 'uman sacrifice" with "some 'o the finest tentacle cravings on the 'andle".

Well, seems like I have to make use of form H3-R35Y. Now where did I put my stamp...

1390094526052.png

CE2-022.png

Well, at least we didn't need to give him a trial. Those Yiddian lawyers are expensive.

In the future(tm) there are supposed to be more ways to deal with criminals and what not. Though Frontier Justice does work well enough if you ask me.

Day 5

CE2-023.png

More immigrants. Well, as long as they don't lose too many fingers or limbs in the fields and workshops they might prove useful.

CE2-024.png

Construction on the Barracks goes slow. I requested more building materials, though with all these fishpeople around we could use more soldiers and guns. Nothing stops the ichtious menace as good as a Cogschester rifle.

To be continued...

Managed to get to day [redacted] without crashes. Will post the rest today. Seems that the crash is related to graveyards, again. I thought the fixed that. Oh well, corpse burial is so Stahlmarkian anyway.

Day 6

CE2-025.png

The Ministry seems to be quite keen on dumping undesirables on my little settlement. Still, it this lot wasn't all that bad. A new overseer was part of it, which is good as I have been rather short on hands fit to hold a whip over the heads of the unruly working class rabble.

CE2-026.png

Fishpeople keep roaming close to the settlement, circling like vultures over the dying. Well, the only one to be doing any dying around here will be the fishpeople themselves. Go back to the ocean you smelly creatures!

CE2-027.png

As the sun set a most horrible sound came from the jungle. Gurgling and ominous disturbing chanting heralding the arrival of the scaly foe. Well, they don't seem to be keen on heeding my advice it seems. Load up the rifles and fire at will, chop-chop!

Day 7

CE2-028.png

One of the colonists decided to fight the fishy menace with a bunch of logs. Not sure how effective those were as a weapon, however he survived long enough for Currie to save him with his pistol.

CE2-029.png

Another creature has been found lurking in the west, the soldiers disposed of it...

CE2-030.png

...however it was only a distraction! The actual bulk of the raiding party came from the east! Panic has overcame the colonists working in the fields.

CE2-031.png

Luckily the riflemen got back before the dreaded creatures could kill anyone. We could really use some more firepower. I wonder if the Ministry would agree to send us a good old howitzer.

CE2-032.png

At least the flow of supplies is uninterrupted by the fighting that goes on on the ground.

CE2-033.png

The last of the fishpeople raiding party is dead. Now I can get back to my proper duties to Queen and Country such as filling out more paperwork.

CE2-034.png

It seems that escaping the unwanted affection of a Poet Laureate may lead to becoming fond of human sacrifice, dramatic readings of tomes written by mad monks and other Stahlmarkian literature. I am itching to sign another H3-R35Y form, however there are too few people around here to replace Prunella Chain as overseer.

Well the biggest issues with killing or loosing overseers now is that for the time being promoting proles to overseers is disabled (it crashed the game consistently, just like renovating workshops did). The other is that even if I get a replacement, I am not sure if workshops can get reclaimed by somebody else, they just seem to sit unclaimed all the time after the death of the last overseer who claimed them. Though I should look into savegame editing and claiming them manually.

Day 8

CE2-035.png

Praise be to the Holy Cog, a new NCO arrived. As could be expected from a man of darker skin, he posses an unspeakable criminal record. Still, he has no fondness for all matters eldritch and is a very resourceful man.

CE2-036.png

And my old NCO has been reading too much on the practical applications of non-euclidian geometry in the field of Elder God summoning.

CE2-037.png

One more squid-lover down. No plotting of bloody murder, Quaggaroth worship and human sacrifice will be allowed in my colony!

CE2-038.png

The biggest bounty of this land, besides timber and fishpeople and fungus that tastes like rubber, is clay and fishpeople. I ordered the construction of furnaces that will make proper modern bricks for proper modern buildings. Soon even the stench of the fishpeople will be replaced by the lovely smell of smoke from the great furnaces of progress.

CE2-039.png

Well, after the surveyors locate more coal. Seems that the Holy Cog hasn't blessed this land with much of the black gold.

CE2-040.png

"Ia Ia Ia" they cried once more. It seems you can't get a good night's rest without some scaly bastard crawling out of the nearby lakes and ponds. All this gurgling is making my head hurt. Any more of this and I will need a whole field of opium poppies to sooth this dreaded pain.

Day 9

CE2-041.png

The raiders arrived, the diligent Herbert Tatch, overseer of the Sawmill, fell victim to their crude weapons. He screamed and cursed as he went down. The Empire won't forget his brave struggle.

BODY COUNT: 3

Yeah, I know I forgot to count the cultists I executed earlier.

CE2-042.png

My new NCO performed admirably and has slain the foul creatures.

CE2-043.png

I politely asked the ministry to send me a new overseer. Shockingly they did just that.

CE2-044.png

The fishy terror continues, this time however casualties are avoided. Unless you count my sleep as a casualty. Can't really dream with all this fighting going around.

Day 10

CE2-045.png

I woke up to the cries of "Quaggaroth ftang" and even more dreadful gurgling. At this point I would prefer all the orphans of the Home Counties to those things. At least orphans have the decency not to try to butcher and eat you, usually.

CE2-046.png

The raiders strike from the south-east as usual. I should probably send some lack-wit fool to see if there's any lake or other such body of water there, that they may use a spawning ground.

CE2-047.png

Meanwhile the ceramics workshop is fully operational. Work has begun on mining the local clay deposits. I won't be running out of bricks any time soon. Coal however is a different issue.

CE2-048.png

A brave footsoldier fought off another scaly creature with her bayonet. I need more soldiers and guns.

To be continued...

Surprisingly few casualties but the death of the Sawmill overseer is a huge blow. Fishpeople attacks should become more dangerous soon enough once they start spawning with more lethal weapons. Also I really need to find coal or else I'll be forced to chop down the entire jungle for charcoal and progress.

FYI, unless you want to have 200 or even 300 images per page, post some shit between updates bros. Even if it's just inane spam of :obviously:

Also I found the Stahlmarkian and Novyrus anthems while looking through the game files. And some disturbing industrial and/or cosmic horror music themes. :M

Day 11

CE3-001.png

Cyril Gummidge took over the Sawmill this morning. Also a fishperson was caught sneaking around near our weapons stockpile, a poor choice of place if you ask me. Moths to a flame and all that.

Turns out they either fixed the reclaiming bug or reloading the game fixes it. Good, that thing was more likely to ruin a successful colony than anything else at this point.

CE3-002.png

The fishpeople have been particularly bothersome this morning. Still, even without proper fortifications and the support of Royal Artillery, they proved to be no much for the Queen's finest. Even if the the Queen's are picked at random from among the common rabble of the Home Counties. I bet most of them didn't even wear clean clothes or use soap in their lives before the army conscripted them.

CE3-003.png

Civilians and soldiers alike have reported a most disturbing thing, fishpeople now have firearms. How they acquired their odd ichtious handguns is a mystery, however they may indeed be linked to Stahlmarkians. Even that drunk on lager lot can build guns and factories, and the common fishperson is probably as primitive as a Stahlmarkian anyway.

CE3-004.png

Meanwhile, Hiram Robinhewer, my new naturalist sent by the Ministry, has proven to be quite keen on studying the practical applications of cosmic energies that can be unleashed via human sacrifice to the Elder Ones. I put "most certainly a bloody cultist" down on the H3-R35Y form in the "justification for termination" field.

CE3-005.png

BODY COUNT: 4

CE3-006.png

After long pursuit the riflemen chased down the gun-armed fishperson chasing one of our shovel-equipped proles. They found a lake, pond or some other nefarious pool of water that these things seem to be coming from. If only I could dump poison gas into it...

Day 12

CE3-007.png

As usual I woke up to the sounds of gunfire and gurgling. Can't even have your morning tea around here without bullets flying. I could use some laudanum.

CE3-008.png

Even better, soon afterwards the jungle filled with the sound of mad chants. "Ia Ia", what else. Oh, and gurgling of course, can't forget about gurgling.

CE3-009.png

Despite the scaly nuisance reminding us of its existence constantly, the Ministry sent us more migrants. Which is good as I ordered a Smelting Refinery to be erected.

CE3-010.png

Night or day, rain or sunshine, the fishpeople persist in their suicidal attacks.

CE3-011.png

The basic work on the Refinery is done, all we need now is some actual furnaces. Also I overheard more small talk about the daily struggles of worshipping Those Who Pre-date Man and Never Die. Time to requisition more H3-R35Y forms.

CE3-012.png

Luckily those got dropped off by the next airship, along with much needed materials for the new furnaces.

CE3-013.png

Fishpeople are as numerous here as drunkards in Novyrus.

Day 13

CE3-014.png

Seems I need to reorganize my workforce, these dullards forgot to tend my precious Chilli Peppers. Bloody coconut curry is the only edible thing around here, ever since we drive the local Jungle Fawn into extinction and nearly did the same with Giant Beetles. I'm not going back to eating that thrice-damned fungus, Holy Cog be my witness.

CE3-015.png

Another fishy creature was spotted in the west, where I sent the proles to gather more coconuts and chop down a few more trees.

CE3-016.png

I told the Ministry to send me someone who can read and write, for once. Hopefully that will sort out the problems with spoiled crops.

I have to say, either the food rebalancing made things easier, or the fact that Coconut trees don't exhaust like Lingonberry bushes in the Colorado Biome. Usually you need at least two fields of crops to feed this many colonists, didn't have any hunger warnings so far. This tropical biome makes things fairly easy it seems, even despite fishpeople butchering not working, again (they just fixed that in the last experimental build).

Day 14

CE3-017.png

More inane battle cries of "Quaggaroth fhtang" awoke me this morning. Scouts report seven scaly humanoids, what else. If only someone would invent an explosive mine that explodes when a fishperson steps on it...

CE3-019.png

The attack came from the direction of the dreaded lake. What I would give for a few hours of artillery shelling directed at the bloody thing.

CE3-020.png

This raid, like most of the previous ones, has proven to be pretty dull. At least the refinery is ready to begin production.

CE3-021.png

I requisitioned more guns, they also sent us some ammo. I could swear we have an unending supply of bullets...

Yeah, guns don't use ammo yet, though that is the plan as you can see here, this item was added recently as I never saw it before. Would make settling this place much harder, I would have to requisition ammo constantly in the place of workshop materials.

CE3-022.png

I took a look over our inventory. We have enough guns to outfit a second team of riflemen, even if half of them will be pistolmen rather than riflemen. We're running short on edible food, unless we want to eat raw Chilli Peppers. Even the Holy Cog itself couldn't protect us from the kind of blaze we'd feel in the latrines if we did. Then again the alternative is eating that fungus...

Day 15

CE3-023.png

Gurgle gurgle gurgle, gurgling all bloody morning. Can't even read the new newspaper the airship dropped off.

CE3-025.png

Dortan Brazenboot has taken a sudden interest in architecture, the kind of architecture the Church does not approve of.

CE3-026.png

Another new overseer arrives, I am not sure how the Ministry manages to convince sane and literate people to come here. Ah, who am I kidding, knowing life these are more cultists-in-the-making and the Ministry just dumps them on my lap. Bloody wankers back in the Capital...

CE3-027.png

I order the construction of new workers' housing. Just as even more nefarious chants and gurgling can be heard comming from the direction of the lake...

Due to pathfinding issues, the dolts seem to be unable to finish the two cots and paiting in the old one.

CE3-028.png

Sometimes I wonder what exactly goes on in the mind of a fishperson. Does it feel more than an insatiable hunger for human flesh? Can it appreciate primitive art? What does it do in its life besides suicidal attacks? Can it love?

CE3-029.png

Fighting lasted through the better part of the day and evening. Still, it seems we got every last one of them with no casualties.

CE3-030.png

Day 16

CE3-031.png

Some good news for once, somebody discovered a deposit of good old coal. A minor one by some murky pond, but better something than nothing. At least it is not more fishpeople...

CE3-032.png

At this point I am begining to wonder if making a drinking game out of fishpeople raids would be a good idea.

CE3-033.png

Praise be to the Holy Cog! A major deposit of coal has been discovered in the west, along with some gold and haematite. This will jump-start our industry! Soon these awful trees and damp air will make way for factories unleashing majestic smoke from their chimneys.

CE3-034.png

That is if progress will stop being hampered by all this gurgling and chanting.

To be continued...

A bit piss easy for now. Also this game could really use land mines, barbed wire and similar. For now you can only build Gabions, which are good against melee fishpeople. Ammo management would really add more tension, here's hoping that will come in one of the next experimental builds.

Fuuck Yeaaah!
Fish people barbeque!!!

I mean holy fuck, it seems that you get fishpeople to attack you every two minutes and potential cultist popping up every other day.

Well, fishpeople spawn just like other wild animals, but the rate is increased in the Jungle/Tropics. I think the raid event chance may also be increased in this biome. Also still butthurt that butchering fishpeople corpses for meat got bugged, again.

But yeah, those things just keep attacking all the time. Luckily unlike with the Colorado biome, the starting location isn't as close to the damn sea/whatever body of water spawns these things.

While I no doubt have too many damn cultists around, it seems frontier justice is working as I haven't seen any ominous altars, evil crops or random acts of murder popping up around my settlement.

Wait,wait, what!?
Random murders and ominous altars I can understand, but evil crops?

My knowledge of lovecraftian stories is pretty limited, but don't you need somekind of meteor landing near you before you get evil crops? And weren' they pretty much just creepy fungus to get people mad and sickly.
Not that I am complaining, because it seems it would add extra challenge to game and eldrich crops wouldn't be that far fetched from actual mythology, but for some reason I find it hilarious:lol:.

Hey, this is very loosely based on Lovecraft. Mostly as a source of black comedy and gameplay challenge. Either way if you have cultists among your farmers they plant/turn crops into evil crops, like clawplants. Sane farmers will remove those and plant proper, Church of the Holy Cog approved crops, such as Wheat rich in gluten. Of course replanting new crops means your food production over time drops if cultists plant a ton of those.

Cultists don't sabotage machinery yet, but either them or communists will do that. I know there's an unfinished "powersaw malfunction" event in the game files. Here's hoping we have good old fires, explosions and other industrial mishaps in the future. Workplace safety? Novyrussian nonsense all of it!

A pity there are no steam powered automatons with hand cannons and pre-recorded Karras Holy Cog messages while they purge the unclean.

Actually there is this:

steam_knight_loading-100267482-orig.png

The Steam Knight POWAH AHMAH is sadly disabled in this build. Usually it comes armed with a grenade launcher, for better purging of anything shouting "Ia Ia".

What is a grenade launcher if not a bolt rifle built using early XXth century tech?

Day 17

CE4-001.png

The sun barely rose and the fishpeople were at it again.

CE4-002.png

The response was swift and violent.

CE4-003.png

Besides the usual fishy shenanigans something else hapened, we discovered a chalk deposit. Precious chalk is vital as a flux to steel-making.

CE4-004.png

Work has also begun on gabions which are supposed to form a defensive perimeter. Hopefully these will protect the colonists better from the ichtious menace.

Well, for the time being walls don't block gunfire so there's no point to setting up lower gabions over higher gabions besides aesthetics.

Day 18

CE4-005.png

I begin the day once more to the sounds of gunfire. It could have been worse, I could have had a hangover. Oh wait, we don't have any actual bourbon or other liquor in stock, that's even worse. A very uneventful day otherwise.

Day 19

CE4-007.png

Construction of the Metalworks goes as planned. Soon it will be possible to have all those mostly useless metal bars lying around turned into proper pipes, plates and cogs, Holy Cog willing.

CE4-009.png

The troops scramble to push back another fishy raid.

CE4-010.png

Curse these beasts! They managed to murder two of my labourers.

BODY COUNT: 6

CE4-011.png

Later in the day we suffered another casualty. Where the bloody hell are the troops?!

Day 20

CE4-013.png

Sadie Whistleton has been missing for a long time now, if the fishpeople haven't gotten her she will probably die from sarvation soon. Cog knows this lot won't try to pick and eat a coconut unless told to by someone of higher station.

She's actually in the lake, beneath the water, running away from the fishperson

Still, this reminds me, they were supposed to implement people taking suspicious walks into the ocean, never to return (or return... changed).

CE4-014.png

At least the Ministry is sending us replacements. Well actually this lot doesn't know they are replacing anyone, better keep it that way.

CE4-016.png

Concerned over the vulnerability of our crops, I conscript the farmers into a voluntary militia. Certainly not because I had a dream of fishpeople murdering our farmers, destroying our crops and eating me which left me utterly terrified, sweaty and shaking in the night.

Militias are supposedly worse at combat, as they lack the military training trait all soldiers start with. Still, as long as they shoot guns it should be ok. Plus they'll carry their weapons around when going to plow fields or forage. To be extra sure I disabled all other jobs so these guys would only farm and forage, which is when colonists are most vulnerable to attack.

CE4-017.png

This night I dreamt of this Sadie woman claiming I did not protect her, saying she'll haunt me from now and make me starve to death like she did. I am pretty certain the lack of proper liquor or opium is making me get these horrid dreams.

CE4-018.png

I couldn't sleep much anyway, quite a bit of evil chanting has started coming from the jungle. Accompanied by gurgling of course. The alarm was raised and troops have been mobilised.

Day 21

CE4-019.png

Riflemen made short work of the first wave of attackers. This one should be fairly bloodless on our side, can't say the same of the Cogless smelly bastards.

CE4-020.png

Even the militia was eager to chase down the last fishbone (or whalebone?) machete-wielding fishy foe. Surely, things seem to be going better and better.

CE4-021.png

As we are in dire need of brass, I ordered to mine the eastern malachite and zinc deposist. Hopefully that will be done before the next round of skirmishing with the fishpeople happens.

I keep forgetting malachite is the copper ore in this game. I'm more used to tetrahedrite due to it being more common in Dwarf Fortress. Also that ore is what we mine in Poland.

CE4-022.png

The alarm sounds once again. Do these fishpeople ever get tired of this? Where do they get so many of them? Do all they do is mate and run to their doom?

CE4-023.png

I organise another squad of militia. Also some people are starting to complain of hunger. We have plenty of Chilli Peppers around, go eat them you cretins!

CE4-024.png

Actually it turned out we are almost out of food. Luckily I begged the Ministry to drop off emergency supplies.

This is a one time bailout event, to warn the player he should do something fast. I figure that with nearly 40 colonists I neglecting foraging too much and the local game is almost extinct.

Day 22

CE4-025.png

The Arsenal is being built. Soon I will be able to arm every man, woman and child to fend off our fishy friends.

CE4-026.png

I order even more food, we received bread and sausages. They also sent us some good old liquor. With the industrial base up and running we don't really need more building materials anyway.

Day 23

CE4-027.png

A rifleman caught a fishperson destroying our precious Chilli Pepper crops! Savage beasts have no appreciation of spicy plants.

CE4-028.png

We need more hands to farm the fields and gather coconuts. Luckily the Ministry is eager to send us some. They better not complain about hunger.

CE4-029.png

The jungle has been awfully noisy with evil fishy chanting today, more so than ever before. Also I dreamt of a giant, dark squid devouring all of Man during my afternoon nap.

:rage:

Twenty fucking seven!

CE4-030.png

The first wave has been spotted rushing at our defences, the troops are gathering as we speak. There is a sense of dread in the air I have never felt before...

Intensive fighting lasts well into the evening. Something is very wrong...

An overseer died during the raid, as well as some worker. The fighting continues...

Day 24

CE4-033.png

Fighting continues well into the morning hours, they throw more and more at us.

CE4-035.png

Some Ivor fellow falls during the onslaught.

Prunella Chain is next to fall, that's two overseers I will need to replace.

Dewey something dies, never knew him, still so many corpses are unsettling. Also my NCO is busy butchering and eating fishpeople.

CE4-038.png

Drucilla was next. No sure who she was. Did she wear a hat? Well she should have if she wanted to be remembered. Let's just put Drucilla the Hatless on her tombstone, if we ever build a graveyard.

The fighting has been going on and on, the killing didn't stop as well. Ironoresworth died next, his particularly cruel parents named him Enoch. Well, he won't have to suffer ridicule from his name now, I guess.

That cultist-of-an-NCO fell next, the riflemen fell into disarray. I swear I saw shadows in the shape of tentacles. Also some prole died. Ia Ia has a nice ring to it now that I think about it...

Just when I thought that just a few of the smelly creatures remain, more gurgling sounds started coming from the brush.

Roster Sander died, he was a fine subject of the Queen, I guess.

The Ministry sent us a new overseer, to replace the two we lost. I need more...

Day 25

CE4-044.png

Is that gurgling at dawn I hear? Fishpeople might be better than roosters, though I would prefer a proper clocktower with a bell.

CE4-045.png

With all this fighting not much farming and foraging was done. I am afraid Josephine fell victim to that agricultural negligence. Either that or she thought she was too fat and starved herself to death. I wonder how comely she was...

CE4-046.png

The farmers' militia reported these odd weeds growing in the fields. Should have a botanist take a look at these. Perhaps they are more edible than the bloody fungus. It tastes like boots fished out of the damn river in the Capitol.

CE4-047.png

We just had a raid this morning and another bunch comes over in the afternoon. What is going on? Why is that black storm cloud shaped so much like a squid devouring a man? Will I be more attractive to women if I wear a long, dark hooded cloak?

To be continued...

ITZ coming, Quaggaroth fhtang, long pork sold in the streets, Ia Ia, machete fishpeople rape gangs in your neighbourhood. Cultist buttsex apocalypse.

Here's hoping I can get foraging and farming back on track before the whole thing spirals deep into cannibalism and utter bedlam.

It seems like the fishpeople are more of a chore than an actual threat though. I think it owuld be better if their occurence was rarer but their rape-factor higher.
