He's not going to be seeing a witch hunter for some time, I think.
Well if some backgrounds are harder to get than others then I don't care what I get. I don't really care what weapon either.
That attitude's not going to get you far on the battlefield, son.

I follow three rules when it comes to recruitment here:

- first I look at what I need: fighter or archer - so, for example, right now I won't be recruiting any marksmen unless either Ulminati or Gondolin dies, or I get to expand my team to 12 bros
- if there's a recruit with the exact background of an awaiting codexer and I can afford him (so, no nobles or raiders for a while now) I will hire him
- If I require reinforcements but there are no appropriate backgrounds available, I recruit whatever I feel is suitable and give him the name of the first codexer in line or one that had no preference (50/50 chance)

tl;dr: you'll have bigger chance of getting hired and killed if you expect less.

No BATTLE BRUTHAS thread is complete without the Emprah's Fureh

I just hope we won't meet any vampires just yet. That's a one-way trip to dead archer land :(

Hoo boy, looks like my aim is going to be shit. By the way - I'm a big fan of making archers go into the utility tree myself. There's some really nice high tier talents (like th eone that reduces fatigue), and non-melee bros can get away with the investment easier.

If you're dealing with characters with strong and relatively even ranged and melee skills, the utility tree also opens the option to make archers incredibly good hybrids. Start off with a bow and arrow, and have in your pack a pike, another set of arrows, a round shield, and a spear (Axes are another good option). The big weakness of archery is how difficult it is to get shots off in traffic, and being able to transition to a two-tile melee weapon largely eliminates that issue. The spear and shield are just another fallback in case your archer is sitting on a flank that's about to be hit.

And sign me up for a low end melee background (+5 melee skill) with a two-tile melee weapon.

I'm very happy to have survived that terrible werewolf attack. Very skillful retreat IMO.

Even in death, I have forced my retarded 2nd cousin to step up. Slapping meat can and will solve any issue

it's not dead, just dreaming. I had a hectic week this week.

There should be an update sometime during the weekend.

You said something about this LP being abandoned? Well, think again :smug:

5. This and that. Also, deaths.

Previously on Battle Brothers: something. I don't remember, it's been so long.

We're going to weirdly-named Collapsed Hiding-Place to kick some ass.

Bandit thugs are a pushover for us now. At least I hope so.

Gondolin connects.

Jaedar kills a lumberjackthug.

Jerkajerka adds one to his list.

Zed hits but is stunned in return.

Zdzisiu loses his shield. Bad.

Some minor fighting. Jerkajerka kills another.

Gondolin snipes one more.

Zdzisiu ripostes and kills his foe.

Whitewolf impales his.

Jaedar is confident.

Ulminati doesn't want to be worse.

Zed kills the last one.

Piece of cake, this one.

Some minor loot.

A couple of 'bros levelled up, but either I haven't screenshotted it or the screenshots vanished in mysterious circumstances. Whatever, by now you should know what I'm choosing.

Hey, look! A werewolf party! Let's meet and greet them :troll:

:happytrollboy:

Ulminati shoots and hits.

We're playing it cool. Defense. No mistakes this time.

Jerkajerka gets hit.

Spearwall works nicely.

Zdzisiu gets hit twice but manages to retaliate.

moar spearwall action.

Both Ulminati and Gondolin rain hell on the furries.

Jaedar nearly kills a wolf in two strikes.

Zdzisiu does kill one. (you might have noticed that I forgot to give him a replacement shield after the previous battle )

Zed downs a second one.

Some minor hits, nothing serious.

A furry goes ballistic and kills Jerkajerka :salute: RIP Ninjerk, it was bloody while it lasted.

He frenzies and hits Zdzisiu, and then another werewolf finishes the job. :salute: RIP Zdzisiu, my forgetfulness was your demise.

Zdzisiu's killer charges and hits Rahdulan.

but gets injured in return.

Gondolins shoots twice at the northernmost wolf, but both arrows hit the lower one, and kill him. That's what I call targeting.

Our Battle Brothers give a proper response to the two killings.

The remaining ones break. One manages to retreat, while the other gets cut down by WhiteWolf.

This turned out surprisingly well. Except for those two dead codexers, of course:M

We enter the village.

Our new recruit. A fisherman with no traits.

Unfortunately, the mission would take us back to the other side of the world, so we politely refuse.

Level ups

Time for some new enemies. Let's head to that hut.

Orcs are tough. Powerful. Pack a mean punch. Fortunately, the younglings are much weaker than the grown-ups, and rarely have any armour.

Forest. Fuck. Fighting here is not fun at all.

Nice shot by Ulminati.

Slow beginnings.

Finally, an orc charges and stuns Ulminati.

Whitewolf hits a greenskin.

Rahdulan makes short work of Ulm's assailant.

Gondolin hits again.

Whitewolf is being attacked.

That one is nearly dead now, thanks to Whitewolf and Zed.

while Jaedar and Kazgar attack their own orc.

but another greenskin charges, stuns and nearly kills Gondolin!

Jaedar finishes off his foe.

and Zed his one.

Whitewolf hits Gondolin's attacker

while Kazgar pushes him away from Gondolin.

Jaedar steps forward to protect his brother

One orc shits his trousers and runs away!

Ulminati shoots at the orc but hits Jaedar instead :negative:

His second shot strikes true, though.

But it's too late for Jaedar, as the orc's strike mauls him. :salute: RIP Jaedar, betrayer by your own brother.

Whitewolf decides it's enough and kills the orc.

but the retreating greenskin finds his courage and attacks!

gets hit by Zed.

'sup.

well, shit. The orc strikes and nearly kills Rahdulan, who's now bleeding from every orifice.

with his life hanging in the balance, Rahdulan finds his strength and manages to kill his adversary and finish the battle.

Well, could be worse, only one dead. Two others were this close to meeting their end, though.

LEWT.

We hike back to town.

:salute:

get a job

and hire Davis. He's a monk, and a dastard. In other words, shit.

This is the end of part five.
