Oh this is looking nice...I can see wasteland in there, and Dragon Wars, and a little Goldbox too...I cannot see the Ultima really.

Any word on what kind of combat system they are using?

What a way to finish off the day as we've just been pinged through Facebook, of the release of ' Lawless Legends ' for the Apple II. This is a game that has been in development for sometime and takes the medieval dungeon crawler and mashes it up with the wild wild west! Traverse the map above and look for new locations, walk through places in a first person viewpoint just like the games of old, visit bars and get drunk with the locals, battle menacing beasts across a hot desert and involve yourself in a fantastic story

I read the title to this thread and wondered if I had stepped through a time portal.

I'm playing the game, it's cool.
My only complain is indeed the unhandy movement but I'm getting used to it.

I killed some shit, died several times, opened some chests, buy some stuff, etc...all the good stuff. More interesting, you don't gain any experience through combat, only gold, but I got improved stats by solving a riddle. Besides the game is mysterious with riddles, obscure hints on the walls and the monsters are cool. The atmosphere is nice too.

In fact Lawless Legends, the wild west game, has not been released yet. They released Ancient Legends, a short medieval fantasy game. It's fun though.

I completed the game. Combat is simplistic, mostly because you're alone (not a big deal though), but exploration(the world is open)/puzzles/riddles are good. It looks like in Lawless Legends you'll eventually control a party so it could be very good, and it will be bigger and the setting seems nice, I'm enthousiastic.

Side note : There may be a bug with statues which are supposed to allow you to pass but don't let you pass, but anyway I managed to get around them so it's not a serious issue, if it's even really an issue and not just me who did something wrong.

I'm going through the site but where the heck is the game download? Or do they really expect you to compile it yourself?

I'm going through the site but where the heck is the game download? Or do they really expect you to compile it yourself?

The disk images can be downloaded from here: https://github.com/badvision/lawless-legends/tree/master/Example Content/Ancient Legends/Disk images

And the instructions are here: https://github.com/badvision/lawless-legends/blob/master/Example Content/Ancient Legends/README.md
Loading the game via emulator:

WINDOWS - Download AppleWin: AppleWin is usually a IIe emulator, but it can run IIGS hard drive images. Push F8 for settings. In the "Disk" tab, (Alt-E) enable hard disk controller in slot 7. Then Select HDD 1 as the 800k (2MG) version. The latest version of AppleWin NTSC is available at http://wsxyz.net/applewin.html Mac - TBA

That doesn't sound like you have to compile it yourself, but I haven't tried running it myself yet.

What a gorgeous game this Ancient Legends game is, I truly love those Apple II graphics. The gameplay itself is pretty simplistic unfortunately, but at least it promises some quality exploration.

From the pics, the youtube vids and description i see bardstale, dragonwars (the first person tiles you walk through like cactus, ponds, horses), wasteland (outside definitely reminds me of that), and alternate reality the city (movement seems close to it when turning). Not sure if you turn 1/4 or 1/2 to fully face N,W,E, or S.

I'll boot it up when summer/fall is over and im less inclined to work outside.

They're still working on this.
The wild west is not what it used to be, or is it? Who would like to find out? PM us as we are in need of a new Play Tester! Let us know if you have a real Apple II, how much time you have a week to test, and what classic RPG's you have played before (and if you beat any of them too.)

We have working icons for the compass, lamp, and clock! plus day and night color cycles. Play testers continue to go through the game as well. We hope to release the game for Apple II, windows, and mac by the fall! Trailer coming this spring!
