    Hi,

I am working on Swedish game developer Fatshark.

We are currently creating a top down RPG set in a post apocalyptic Sweden. What we want to create is an RPG that is possible to play in a multiplayer setting with hard core elements such as permanent injuries and even death to your team members. There are no classic level system in the game. Instead you collect stuff in the world an build new eapons and implants that defines your characters. You are also building up ateam to pick which characters you want to use for each mission.

You roam around on a map similar to the pip-boy map in Fallout 1 & 2 or Skyrim. Of course you can bump into random encounters when you search the world for quests new squad members.

The goal of the game is to try to dig deeper into the Krater. The instances below the ground is random generated and there are dungeons with endless depth.

We have allowed players to try out the game long before we have reached alpha.

Up until now we mainly have built the basic systems. Now we are creating a lot of the world and the lore.

As I know this is a great RPG community I thought I should drop by and let you know that we exist. Especially now when we are working a lot on the RPG element. Here are a few Steam keys if you would be interested in trying the game and give us some feedback!

    Sup thormo?

Really nice of you to visit us here in this prestigious den of RPG Junkies :D

The premise of the game sounds very interesting, I will absolutely check this game out! And thanks for leaving us some keys!

Took J9WTJ-BNTWC-Q3K9Z and apparently someone else took 4LBI3-W6HTV-RYA29 already (but didn't have the courtesy to post about it).

Current list of unclaimed keys from what I gather:

    XY6NY-FII24-AL5XE
    JB4BG-V7ZZJ-48QI6
    C9867-C8DT4-GLGF3
    30DCX-23WRY-XAJ8P
    DEEXG-PBGF6-D6B36

/e: if you want to send some keys to the Staff as well, or generally get in touch to set up an interview / early preview etc. you might want to send a private message to the head honcho DarkUnderlord, since the "contact us" link on the Mainpage is currently broken.

Thanks Angelo I will send DarkUnderlord a pm!

If you have any questions let me know. The tutorial is not in so everything is not obvious. There are a lot more information on our forums (forums.fatshark.se).

Still a long way to go but it's a nice game, feels like Torchlight but with 3 dudes. Don't have much patience for this sort of game anymore, though.

The world map is p. cool.

Gah, didn't notice this yesterday. Been debating pre-pre-ordering this (which gives access to the alpha/beta) and it's only about $10 now on their site. Give us some feedback if possible, brosefs~

Zed I assume you tried the first version of the pre-alpha. We started out with basic mechanics. We are about to increase the focus on RPG elements from now on hence I posted here.

We want to have bug reports and stuff in our forums so we have them in one place. The same goes for feedback but if you want to discuss the game here I am fine with that. The thing is that we want your feedback, we also want people to understand it is a pre alpha build that is tested and by no means feature complete.

It would be nice to get some input on what you would like to get in. The pause in the single player seems like an obvious wish! ;)

Here are some more Steam keys for those of you who missed out on the first batch.

Zed, I would wait until after tomorrow as there is a new patch going up tomorrow with a lot of new stuff.

One thing I can really wraqp my head around is how often you should be able to switch in and out team memebers from you squad.

As each char has 2 skills + 1 gadget(that can be used for special skills) The setup you play with is basically defined by which character you choose.

I am thinking of adding a com radio as a gadget so you can call in teammates to replace the ones currently in action. The pre-alpha is limited in terms of scope it is just a small part of the world and with no larger main quest lines or side quests included. We want thos who test the game to get the full storyline playable when the game is released.

    Cheers

Okay thormo. I did just give it some time though and I saw some small improvement already. Will definitely try more this weekend.
By the way, what's the status on a pause function? :D

    Ok cool!

The shops and hospitals are in now so you actually can heal some of your non permanent injuries. The game is a bit too hardcore without them. I got a regulator that got two broken leg so he could barely move. ;)

The pause button is on my table. I need to bend my head around how it should/could work. I mean you can pause now but to no effect, I think the key is to be able to queue orders at least.

As an independent dev it is all about trying to maximize what you can get in in terms of the budget we got hehe.

We have started an early pre-order for people who want to support Krater and get a discount and be guaranteed alpha/beta access at store.fatshark.se and it have turned out well so far. :)

Oh, I didn't realize! I just tried the spacebar and assumed it wasn't in yet.

A good option would probably be a next-action-queue system á la Baldur's Gate. I would say that's one of the best RTwP considering the variety of skills there are in the game (targeted stuns, aoes, single-target nukes and heals). The portraits in the top-left corner could then show the queued skill and maybe even the target. I get a black screen when I try to paste a screenshot from the game otherwise I'd illustrate :D
The main reason why I'm so excited about a pause function is the fact that it allows for a lot more challenging encounters (as well as making more common encounters easier for new players). Sure, it's only a 3-character party, but stuff like choosing who to heal, whether to stun or use another cooldown and stuff like that are still viable "pause options".
Another approach would be to be able to queue more than one action per pause. It would then play a bit like a "simultaneous turn-based" game. Would reduce the amount of pausing as well.

And of course, not everybody are going to want to pause the game either. Either way it's great to hear you consider it :)
