From first 5 minutes already decline. Conversations have Bethesda style options where you choose one thing and guy says something else.
And body gestures during dialogues are terrible. They need to fix that for the release.

EDIT: Later in the video when they show mass combat, it is terrible and hilarious. This game is going to tank so hard :hahano:

The PAX footage looks good to me and I'm genuinly looking forward to play the game. However, I'm a bit worried it's not going to make much commercial success. Some calculations:
avg. # of employes: 70
avg. salary: 2500 USD
# months: 60
tech + PR cost: 3 mil. USD
Total cost = 13.5 mil. USD
# Copies to break even at full price: 13.5e6/60 = 225 000 units.

I think the numbers used are pretty conservative. The game will probably break even, but will have troubles to generate enough funding for a sequel or other projects. The Euro-junk tax on US reviews might really hurt here. Well... I hope I'm wrong with my prediction.

# Owners from SteamSpy for some other games:
Elex: 160 000
D:OS II: 1 100 000
PoE: 1 100 000
Undertale: 3 100 000
Prey: 600 000

I could be wrong about the salaries in game dev, but the average salary in the Czech Republic is half that amount. Wiki says Warhorse has 80 employees.

In the Czech Republic? lol... I'd go with 1200-1400 USD.

That's brutto salary. We have this thing called 'superhrubá mzda' which is always a bit higher than what you see stated. This 'superhrubá mzda' is what you really cost the employer, but it's not what you see advertised. The second factor is the high proportion of highly-skilled technical professions they need. Also it's in Prague. Salaries are higher there on average. Look up some glasdoor references for software developers in Prague and multiply it by 1.34 to get 'superhrubá mzda'. The numbers match. AFAIK they split the company immediately between the founders and the investor, so they couldn't balance the low salaries with shares.

It's not like I don't know my country. Finally, that number was also increased by hiring foreign actors for the cutscenes, who had to be flown to Prague and accommodated.

You can expect Angry Joe will shit on it because it's not some American, cool title but a relatively obscure Yuro game - old-school and complicated at that. Pleb Youtubers are not built to like games like that.

But there are already smaller Kwan and midsize to big Yuro and Russian channels being very hyped by KCD. The sales outside Kwa could make the game profitable.

They have over 110 devs now, but the headcount increased gradually starting at 20. I would probably count with around 80.
But anyway the count is probably somewhat accurate. My guess would be total budget at around 15-18 million USD, with most of it paid by Bakala.
I really hope it sells at least 500K in first two months, that should hopefully give some healthy profit to keep the lights on..

This, it's definitely not a dev team that wouldn't be missed. Every single game Vavra worked on was at least unique and interesting, there's obviously something about this dude's ability and vision you don't see very often.

IIRC the second-in-charge brainpower behind the game Viktor Bocan said if he could make his dream game it'd be something like Dark Souls. And Vavra always said he'd love to do something with Vikings. Imagine those two concepts put together by a talented and seasoned dev team. Heavan. I hope they'll get a chance to keep going.

Sounds cool, but Vikings are so overdone. I would love a Dark Souls in ancient times. Maybe a bit similar to Eternal Darkness.

Not overdone enough

But seriously, I don't think it's that bad. In the aRPG genre it's what, For Honor but that's a MMO fighting game. Then the next God of War but that's not an RPG. Banner Saga and V: Expedition are turn-based strategies.

There are a few Viking games but IMO a Souls-like Vikings would be first. Plus most of the Viking games I've seen are wowized or aesthetically raped in some other manner, I'm sure Vavra would push for more realism again. That would be great ofc tho I would love to be able to visit mythical worlds like Asgard too.

I know Bocan is a souls fanboy but another fucking Souls game is the last thing I want them to work on. There have been so many, like one or two almost every year, you got Demon Souls, Dark Souls, DS2, DS3, Bloodborne, Surge, Lord of the Fallen, Nioh and no doubt From are making even more.

Just let Warhorse make storydriven open world RPGs in the New Vegas style, those are sadly much rarer.

The last Souls-like for PC worth a damn was DS2 and that's from 2014 but 'k.

No. It's more recent and it's called Nioh.

Anyway... I'll say it for the last time. While the game may very well be great in all ends (and I really hope it delivers), the combat will clearly be a cluster fuck. Warhorse should have gone the Warband or Mordhau route.

Every single video that is released in this new media push just cements the feeling that the combat of this game will be a hot mess...

Just find the biggest, baddest motherfucker of a two-handed warhammer and smash everyone to bits, at least it will be over soon and you can get back to hiking innawoods.

Fantastic. The same shit raised Witcher's 3 media profile manyfolds. Too bad it seems it's just some obscure, ranty blogs, not mainstream media.

PS: fucking ninja'd by Kem0sabe.
