I'm not really into Early Access but this looks really cool and I'm strongly considering buying it. Anyone got anything to say either way?

Yeah, reconsider unless you have friends to play with. The maps are designed in a way that there is less hunkering down in a room and mowing down anyone who comes in like in the original. What I mean is that playing this game with randoms is gonna be a nightmare.

Lol, in euro zone 2 a single copy is better than 6 pack (EDIT: now corrected, they lowered 6pack price)... So i just got the deluxe version...
Now i need a fucking new pc, it's barely playable with zerk with a GT540M
Btw i liked the map i've seen tha laboratory one. The rest seems good too but time will tell for sure.

PSA: to remove the goddamn mouse smoothing + acceleration Unreal Engine 3 has on by default:

\killingfloor2\KFGame\Config\DefaultInput.ini

bViewAccelerationEnabled=FALSE

\killingfloor2\Engine\Config\BaseInput.ini

bEnableMouseSmoothing=false

There's no sniper or gunslinger class plus the game is sub 60fps on my i7 mediocre laptop nvidia. It's still as fun as ever tho.

I bought the six pack. I've got 2 keys I'm looking to sell for $25 on paypal. If anyone's interested, PM me.

So does it play as well as the first game? Is it worth picking up in Early Access or should we/I wait?

I decided to buy it b/c I love the exaggerated FEAR/Killing Floor gunplay. Gonna play for the first time. Be back to report my impressions.

edit:

game runs like butter. despite all the mayhem it runs at steady 60.

Just been playing it - initial impressions are very positive.

[Edit]

Played for a bit more. I can't fault the visual presentation and performance - both are top notch. Gameplay wise I've only messed around in solo. The larger ZEDs do seem far more fragile than before, particularly the scrake and FP. The FP looks great and all that but is actually easy to handle. FP raging seems like it is now also random as well as damage based however he moves so slowly when raged it doesn't matter. I'm also able to chew through scrakes and FPs as a level 0 medic, with medic weapons & on solo with little issue. Even if the difficulty was normal I would still have struggled with both specimens in the same situation in KF1.

The changes to stalkers are great though - hard to predict their movements when they attack and frequent direction changes when moving towards you as well. Not just a case of lining up the outlines and letting loose anymore.

ZED group AI has changed as well. If you get far enough away from a group of ZEDs some will continue to advance towards you to hold your attention whilst others split off and flank you, very welcome change. I can't confirm it but I think they can despawn and respawn in at other points on the map if you are attempting to kite.

Any other KF veterans share similar experiences?

Zed, even the big ones, were always fragile in solo. This is nothing new. In multiplayer they are still beefy. Scrakes are especially brutal in multiplayer now. They start raging and they don't stop until you die or it dies. 1on1ing them (online) isn't really an option until we get a Perk for burst damage. I think Scrakes are far more dangerous than the Fleshpounds in KF2. At least the Fleshpounds calm down after a while.

They were fragile, but never this much so - I was a level 0 medic ffs. Nice to know scrakes still have a bit of danger about them. The fleshpounds seem to have been seriously neutered - I swear its like they're running through quicksand when raged.

[Edit] I see what you mean about scrakes now, compounded by the fact a lot of the new player base will engage scrakes early before clearing out other mobs instead of outmanuvering them and taking them on as a group when the everyone is ready. The current lack of sharpshooters doesn't help matters either.

normal is the new easy. hard is more in line with what kf1 normal was like. perks levels don't matter as much now, so it's entirely possible to clear suicidal or HoE at lv 1
