Fuck RPGs, they only last you for a few dozens of hours at best. For 2 years of isolation, I'll take the latest Dominions version, a soccer managenent sim like FM, and some usual suspect from Paradox.

Codex 2013 Codex 2014 PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Grab the Codex by the pussy Serpent in the Staglands
If it were a two year sentence, I would take
Wizardry 6
Wizardry 7
Wizardry 8

I would finally find the dedication to go through the trilogy without stopping.

A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
As for rpgs
I think Arcanum would help me retain my dignity by reminding constantly what a distinguished gentleman I am even when facing adversity.
Also, has a brothel for people with acquired taste.
:obviously:

DA:O for romancing.

As for the rest, I would want the games have as much replayability as possible, which means procedural content is a definite plus.

So, dwarf fortress and...
Minecraft!

You know you want it.

I'd bring Oblivion, then sue them for enabling my self-destructive behavior.

You might as well ask what people's three favourite RPGs are.

Mine: Fallout: New Vegas, KOTOR 2, and my third selection is not because it is my favourite but because I really need to finish it: The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC.

The idea is to switch to KOTOR 2 and bathe in Chris Avellone/Tony Evans writing when the JRPG derpiness gets too much.

I agree with agentorange, user created content is kind of cheating. Especially since some different mods can be considered games all on their own, and are just using the game you chose as an engine. And FRUA is literally just an engine (which I think comes with a small module?).

The OP said the conditions were that we would be spending two years in prison (possibly for piracy), and would be allowed to bring our laptop with three RPGs and one non-RPG. Now, if it's my laptop, I'm actually going to bring every fucking game I own. You'd never find them; because if you know how, you can hide everything. How are they ever going to know?

1. Fallout New Vegas
2. BGT (DoJ is dumb and doesn't know it's technically two games and two expansion packs ok?)
3. Dungeons of Dredmor for my memes

Seriously. Prison security should be full of dumbfucks. Make a hidden, encrypted partition with every fucking game you can fit. Problem solved

The idea of renting out three japanese porn games is good.

But if business is not possible, then:

Fallout New Vegas with all the DLCs and all the mods. This should eat up nearly one year. When you are tired of FNV you can change to the next.

Silent Storm. With Sentinels if it count, but it alone should do for several month. The story engine get generated make sure each campaign doesnt much alike to the last. And with two Allies/Axis storylines, that double the fun. After tired of WW2 gunporn, change to.

Neverwinter Nights 2 with all the DLCs and all the mods. This should account for a year, because at one point you have only so much NWN2 engine you could stand.

Repeat this cycle~

Fallout New Vegas seems to easily be winning this interesting little poll here....interesting....

They are all secret Bethtard hikesim fanboys, and latch on Vegas because it allows to retain some street cred :smug:

But first, what's an RPG?

I really hope this is a hypothetical.

I'd get 3 construction sets--I know FRUA, but people here have cited the Neverwinter Nights series. It would add replay value.

Best prison game is Football Manager. So I'd pick this and probably 2 big RPGs I haven't played, like F:NV and some blobber.

With their respective toolsets and modules/games. Maybe by the end of those two years i will have made something worth a shit.

1. HoMM3 (played it for 16 years, it only gets better)
2. Daggerfall (beating this game without using fast travel will take a while)
3. Wizardry VII (should take long enough)

I'd just take Unity engine and spend the 2 years making my own RPG.
Requires activation via Internet.
Grab something else 'just in case'.

Hell, Celerity has this all figured out yo 1337 hours of Darkest Dungeon would have you covered
:troll:
All kidding aside I would say New Vegas, Dark Souls & Wizardry 7
And bonus "non RPG" Stalker Call of Pripyat

2 years' a long time...

Here's a provisionary selection, off the top of my head...

PST
Skyrim (even without mods, the hiking value is fairly high and I find the snowy landscapes soothing, just like I do IRL)
Gothic2+NOTR

Would Terraria count, maybe as an aRPG?

None, 'cause when the people there see me playing nerdy games they'll probably use me as a glove.

There's a big chance that most people on these forums would be used as gloves anyway.

I'd go with Skyrim (shame on me) and Deus Ex, the original. Probably would not have time to play either of them tough, as the rest of the inmates would be more than happy to introduce me to the wonderful world of prison romance.
