Gotta say I agree with the RPS review so far. Never had such nail biting fun before. Dragging your team mate to the exit grid with guards chasing you across half a map is the best.

Beat it on Expert. Went with Internationale (my favorite crutch), Prism (more power!), and managed to rescue Banks around day two or so. Gear was nothing special except for the level three cloak I got for Internationale and a level 2 cloak for Banks. Final mission had a decent layout and I took out the three patrolling guards through the main passageway and did the old carry one/sit on another to incapacitate them indefinitely. Internationale escorted Monster and used the level 3 cloaking field to get him to safety when the massive guard swarm came at the end. Banks was useful for a distraction, used her cloak to get away but even without the cloak I could have just sacrificed her.

I did make use of a couple of rewinds now and then. Expert Plus allows no rewinds so I have a feeling it's going to take a lot of trial and error and luck to beat it on that.

In my opinion, alternative Shalem is crucial for no-rewinds playthrough. You usually use these up a guard just pops out of nowhere and you get flanked by 2-3 guys (you can usually zap one with no problems). Now, a three shot pistol with armor piercing gives you good mileage for containing such situations.

I gotta say, endless mode just got pretty brutal after day 5, once difficulty level 5-6 missions start rolling. I just popped a Sankaku mission and got notified that every friggin thing on the level now hosts a daemon. Not very happy about it, cause the best anti daemon thing I could get my hands on was taurus. I pop open the first camera - +3 alarm daemon. Yeah, running past the bleedin thing would be more efficient. Second camera gives me a -1000$ daemon. And the exit is keycard locked so I'll have to scour the daemoned safes before I bail Lucklily Xu is on board. Still, this is going to be a long one.

I started an Endless run but am only on day three. Went with Internationale and Sharp who now has six augments (his own +KO, +AP after knockdown, +AP after hacking, kills don't raise alarm level, item cooldown reset, and uh... can't remember). Managed to pick up a level three and level one cloak so I'll probably pump their speed. Cloaks are insanely good for getting out of an 'oh shit' situation. From what you describe something tells me I won't be getting the 'Survive 10 days in Endless' a-cheese-mint.

So far I've gotten 30+ hours out of the game.

Well, it's one of those games that kicks you in the nuts just when you think you've gotten gud.
And you keep going back for more.

Game is great. It is Tense (in a way few turn based games have been), has gameplay that manages to stay simple without sacrificing anything else, has a nice amount of variety and....well, the list can keep going on.

On Steam forums a bunch of momos keep complaining how the game is short because you can 'beat it' in three or four hours (beginner campaign).

How finished is the game right now? That's to say, is the current version a proper release with everything in it or is there still content in the pipelines?

The game is finished to my understanding. In regards to expansions. I don't know. It took a lot of work and balance for the game to reach its current state. The team might be burned out or unwilling/able to add more content. Personally, Like telepath tactics, I would be willing to pay for a fixed campaign scenario.

It's finished. Might be some DLC, who knows, but, yes, it's in release state. And not Double Fine 'release state' but actual release state. There's nothing that feels like it's lacking.

Although, I swear there were comments in dev logs/update about psionic upgrades for you agents. I'm not sure if these ideas were implemented under a different name or if they are possibly being set aside for an expansion.

Edit, found this in an RPS article.

" We are working hard to begin the beta, so our focus of Update 8 is get in the last systems we really want to test out. One of the more complex systems that we are working on adding is Psionics. It will provide a new layer of interaction between the agents and the guards and hopefully add a lot of depth to the systems already there"

There were some things that were cut like the psionics and I'm pretty sure Prism was supposed to have the ability to disguise as a guard, too. Whether they implement those later, though, who knows?

Eeww. I just looked on steam top two most helpful reviews are whining about beating the game on easy so quickly. The game doesn't actually have a roguelike tag and beginner being so easy is giving some nubs the wrong idea. Maybe Klei should have made experienced the lowest difficulty setting so at least the retards would QQ less.

Eh, I think they were fucked if they did fucked if they didn't. There used to be a lot of complaints about the game being too difficult.

Yep, you need something for the mouth breathers. Some guy argued with me on Steam forums but he proved my point: saying he wouldn't have bought the game unless he saw it on Angry Joe. There are thousands of idiots out there who will not look into the development scene unless some YouTube e-tard tells them to do so. That's the kind of people you include beginner mode for.

Right now there are 4 difficulties. Maybe if they were named thusly : Very Easy,Easy,Normal and Hard and people were encouraged to start on Easy instead of Very Easy then the retards who feel like they aced the game by beating it on Very Easy would understand that they haven't really beaten the game. I had a bit of a bigger look at the advantages you get on Beginner and it is so strongly stacked in your favour I wonder if it is actually possible to not win.
It is a sad state of affairs when people see Very Easy as default difficulty setting. I see Very Easy as a setting for people who are literally disabled.
Edit: Although for anyone who does read they will notice that Expert=Normal. The game does actually point that out in plain text.

It's also people's short attention spans. They want to play a game once and be done with it rather than experimenting and learning what works through trial and error.

Excellent. I'll wait a while for the last bugs to get sorted out and DLC to get released, but that's better than having to wait a year or longer.

The people complaining about a short campaign seem to think that this is a game you play for the story, rather than the story wetting your appetite for the gameplay. I'm guessing that Endless mode is where the real game starts, with the campaign as a lengthy tutorial of sorts. They, however, seem to think that the campaign is the main game with Endless as a side-dish. I can see them being confused approaching the game like that.

Each of the three times I have gotten to the end level the Security Terminal and the Mainframe were fairly close to each other. I was under the impression it was weighted for them to spawn near each other somewhat.

Could be. Although I've had two instances where they were practically on opposite ends of the map.

Er... you might be waiting a year if you're waiting for potential DLC. They haven't even mentioned anything yet.

I'd also disagree with who is OP according to Jaedar. IMO Internationale and Sharp are the two best agents. Certainly Xu is pretty boss though. I agree with you Metro regarding pls dont nerf.

Edit : If they did nerf his fist they would also need to take away the malus he gets to AP too. Its kind of cool that someone has a plus and a minus in one ability. If anything I would like more characters like that.
