That problem isn't tied to rolling per se, but rather the imperfect execution of it. The biggest problem with InSomnia is that they have no idea what kind of combat system they really want - first it was MMO/HNS mouseclick/autoattack, and now it's full real-time. In both of those iterations it looked fucking horrible. These guys have an amazing art direction, a decent looking game from a technical standpoint (for an indie developer at least) but dear God Almighty no one in that team knows anything about gameplay mechanics and combat/encounter design at all.

Guyduk probably checked-out for good.

And they posted some useless KS update (arena and combat changes).

To be honest, I don't understand why they didn't go with TB combat. It's simply retarded.

Pre-New Year InSomnia update
Posted by Studio MONO (Creator)
Hello everyone! It's been a while since we last spoke, and knowing this is the last Friday of 2016 we will try to make this update worthy.

The final game will feature many nasty creatures to play with
To give you some more activity options during the weekend time we are offering you the latest build of InSomnia Fighting Arena, which includes many updates and fixes that represent the current combat system status of the whole game itself.

With this new build we have put much effort into improving the close combat mechanics: all animations related to melee fighting and characters behaviour were reworked, while melee weapons were also rebalanced. This means that you will be able to experience a much more energetic and believable close combat system than we had before.

We have finalized all story content for the game
As usual we have also introduced different improvements regarding the interfaces and other less obvious elements of the game. So get your machine-gun from the locker and show them what you've got! The new build can be downloaded here (Windows version). We will finally publish Mac and Linux versions earlier next month as they still require some love before giving it to you.

Translation of all game text (~600k words) will start next month
We will come back shortly with new update and additional details regarding InSomnia progress in January, so stay tuned. Have a happy New Year everyone and thanks for all the support you showed us so far!

I'm not sure what combat will be like in this game as I have not ready any of the updates.

Ignorance is bliss afterall.

Gameplay sure does need some improvements. It feels like you could get bored really fast. Doom fun gameplay formula with more RPG elements could help in this game.

Getting ready for Steam EA
Posted by Studio MONO (Creator)
Hello everyone! There was something quite a few of our backers asked about and we felt like we should start talking. Today we will give you a better idea of what InSomnia Steam EA access content will be and even show you a few new screenshots based on it.

The Plot
Click for full resolution

You will have to face Ghetters, the poorest and most unfortunate inhabitants of Object 6. They are clearly not happy with how things turned out for them and the recent attacks by unidentified renegades didn't make it any easier.

Click for full resolution

You will be sent to one of the security posts to assist local authorities in keeping the situation with Ghetters under control, but will it be really the only problem you will have to deal with?

Click for full resolution

As you might have expected, obviously not. You are experiencing Somnia, a mysterious disease that can't be explained from the scientific point of view. Its symptoms include insanity and even genetic disorders in long perspective.

Somnia is a cancer of this world and usually puts an end to the social life of man here. Will you be able to deal with it, cure it or even use it for your own purposes? Time shall tell...

What we are doing now
Other than working on the full game we continue to test Fighting Arena for Linux and Mac and it looks quite promising. We are still pretty much occupied with translation of all text contents of InSomnia (whooping 300k words) but we will do our best to minimize waiting time before you can get a considerable new playable chunk of gameplay.

Until next time!

Hello everyone! Previously we have already showed you some of the screenshots which demonstrated the start of actual game. Today we are making another step forward with the following video that will give you even better idea about the Steam EA content of InSomnia:

Among other things currently we are also finalizing the process of choosing the publisher who will help us bring InSomnia to the world in the best way possible. We will let you know about the results and all the great things that come with such partnership as soon as possible.

And yet again - digital rewards reminder
Posted by Studio MONO (Creator)
Owls are not what they seem...
Hello everyone! First thing goes first - as we move closer to the release with each day we can no longer afford waiting for backers to submit their preferences regarding in-game rewards.

And of course if you have participated in Fallen of Object 6 initiative and still didn't send us the name you want to give to your personal lovely digital corpse - please do so as soon as possible. Drop us a line here in the comments section, send us a message via Kickstarter or support[at]insomnia-project.com (don't forget to replace [at] with @ before sending) - it's all good.

We will distribute one last notification regarding this matter today, June 12th, and expect you to reply no later than June 18th. After that point we will be forced to create these rewards without your involvement as all this custom content has to be finished by the end of this month.

Roam Object 6 with style
One of the latest things some of you were concerned with is the current status of our website that has been "under maintenance" for quite some time now. The reason why this is happening has nothing to do with the development progress. Internet can be a nasty place and sometimes web servers get infected with viruses which eventually happened with us as well.

However there's nothing to worry about - no information is lost or leaked. Everything is safe and sound and it's just a matter of time it goes back online. Anyway we are truly sorry if this made/makes you feel uncomfortable or uncertain about the game status in any particular way.

You will never stop being surprised with things you find here
Next week we will also decide which publisher will suite our common needs the best which also means finally setting in stone the Steam EA launch, release date and all other things we all so eager to know about. So next update from us should led some light on this question and bring a number of long awaited information to digest.

Start your day with blowing up everything around during the gun fight
If you still feel unsure about why exactly we would need a publisher and not just launch Steam EA right away, we recommend to refer to our lengthy comment we left for our previous update.

Add some sparkles here and there and get spectacular looking fighting scene as a result
We are almost there, so stay tuned to our next update. Thank you everyone for support and patience!

New screenshots and progress report
Posted by Studio MONO (Creator)
Hello everyone! Today we will show you some new in-game screenshots and give you more information on where we at right now (click on images to see full resolution).

Make sure they will stay down
Much of our work these days consists of testing of all the new game levels and especially the combat system behaviour, light and sound effects (radio, loudspeakers music etc.).

Desolate pathways of Object 6
We continue to add unique content such as in-game rewards for backers and also work on balancing the craft system (as you might remember you will need resources to craft stuff and we are heading towards lack of those to make the whole process more complex and rewarding).

Ghetters always get in trouble

We also started the process of scripting the cut-scenes for the end of the game and lets say there will be quite a few of those. Other than that we are expanding on boss fights which means adding new types of enemies and all necessary animations.

That should be quite painful
Plus we have finally started to work with the publisher who is helping with translating all the text content of the game at the moment. We still have to solve a few legal questions before starting a full-fledged cooperation and as soon as it's done you'll be the first one to know all the details.

Browse junk and who knows what you might find
Other than that the process of character development and achievement system testing has also started. These achievements will not only add some cool looking icons to your Steam account but will also slightly affect the gameplay itself (and not always in a benefiting way).

Dark are the veils of death
Generally we feel quite good about the current state of InSomniaand will be able to finish the biggest chunk of development by the end of September. We will continue to tune the balance and improve each and every aspect of the game until it's humanly possible. So it's safe to say we will be ready to name release dates for different versions of the game (closed beta, Steam EA, final release) in September.

Almost there
We do realize the game release has been postponed far more than anyone could expect but we are moving forward to this goal each day. We are very happy to have you as our backers and will do everything possible to satisfy you with the final game.

I'm definitely looking forward to this. And I think you underestimate your audience if you really think this game, or any rpg, could be postponed more than expected. The only thing we expect is releases to be postponed.

September is next month. I guess this will come out in 2018.
