I asked a couple questions in this thread at about 2:30 a.m. today. Reading over them now I had to pause and think on exactly how much the hive mind has influenced my attitudes.

Will you be using Oblivion's dialogue system?
Will skills effect a PCs dialogue options? Will a PCs stats effect dialogue options?

Will there be multiple ways to resolve quests? Will there be multiple endings to the main quest?

Will some quests be able to be resolved through dialogue?

How heavily will choices and consequences feature in this game?
Will you include good and evil role playing options or do you plan to be a little more vague when it comes to morality?

Will the quest compass be gone?
Will the "difficulty slider" be gone?

Other than using xps and levels, how will your skill system differ from the one in Oblivion? Will the skills be the same? Will their still be majors and minors? Will there still be no (meaningful) classes?

What degree of specialisation will be necessary in order to play a successful character? Will a level 40 character have maxed out all (or most of) his skills? Will a mage type be forced to choose one or two magic schools, or will mastering all be possible?

Finally, you said you want to make a Nehrim "a role playing game with action elements rather than an action game with role playing elements"*, what do you consider to be the characteristics of a good RPG?

The Desolate Room is a RPG that involves robots... It looks kind of strange... Anyone want to try it out.

And now for something truly different... It looks absolutely, ridiculously silly, and most people will hate me for this. Social satire RPG...

Here's a cool twist on the fantasy & even sci fi genres, a sci fantasy CRPG that isn't for a console.

What the dude with the file did is that he has the file upload to to an upload service Mediafire with no regular download feature. The only way to get the download is to send it to another email account then download it. When I use the download feature from another account, my machine hiccups. I think it is one of those crazy things which people do like linux programmers do to make games difficult to use so only those are who cool (know programming) or can jump through hoops with computers to get what they want.

You may not like my saying this but this is a quote from the website where the game is put up.

There are 10 types of people in this world, those that understand binary numbers and those that don't.

Download link appears to be working for me. It is currently going down at 6.7 kb/s which is normal for my connection.

Edit: It didn't work after all.

Here's one from Turkey, and it looks like a full on HARDCORE (Yeah!) Rpg from some local flavah...It has the look of 1001 Arabian nights/ Al Qadim with airships.

I ended with this after I checked about 25% of The Linux Game Tome projects list... I ditched out JRPG clones and MMOs though. Next 25% I'll post here soon.

And the amount of Open-source MMOs is frightening

Hey shihonage, that project is awesome. What role do you have in that project if you don't mind me asking?

    Thank you.

There are two of us. My cousin doesn't do the engine coding, and I don't do level design. On the rest of the issues boundaries blur.

Since I only put one screenshot in above post, here's a slightly more recent shot.

I don't know if this game has already been posted in this thread but it's a really cool indie rpg that just came out in late January of '07. I'm not part of the team that made it so don't think I'm here trying to do self-promotion. It has a lot of choices and consequences and a nice POST-APOC setting.

Here is a link to where you can download the game: http://www.gamingw.net/forums/index.php?topic=68488.0

Here is a link to a trailer for the game(good music in the trailer, made me want to groove): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1M0FLAXXvRU

Just check it out, you won't b disapointed :D

EDIT: screenshot for those who are wary: [IMG]

The Codex should be a place that supports honest indie CRPG's, as such it's good to see that CB:SU&J:G! gets all the recognition it deserves. As far as indie projects go it's up there with Purgatorio and Broken Hourglass IMO.
