You sure have a hard-on for doctrines, don't you, being in the army and all. I bet you fancy yourself a good rape too. Doctrine of rape. I bet you only got a team of volunteers helping with the game because you raped them before.

Tell us, will we be able to rape anyone in the game? With or without a doctrine?

How is your mother's basement treating you this winter? Do you find it damp and poorly insulated from the cold December air?

Why don't you keep this shit to GD or other boards and let relevant discussions flow on here?

Cool it Villain.

I'm here because RPG codex has fantastic people who have very kindly and professionally given honest feedback to our work for which I am very appreciative. This kind of behavior is unbecoming of the dedicated and friendly community that the codex is known for. I'm sorry to find that this kind of language is from a veteran member of the codex. That's alright that you don't support the military my friend. We've done well but have made mistakes- sometimes some pretty bad ones. Just remember, the actions of a few should never represent the morals of the whole.

My name is Jake, I'm a young motivated guy producing a sweet game. Like me or not I am here to stay and I can't wait to share my game that has been strengthened with the raw and honest critique from the great people here on the Codex.

Thank you all,
Jake

LOL @ Uncle Toms of the Codex. Oh look, here's a developer playing nice with us, gods forbid somebody offend him and make him leave!

FFS. That was sarcasm. If you have to be Uncle Toms, at least do it with style.

Nonetheless, apologies if it was too hostile. Wasn't meant to be.

Anyway, Jake I personally like the use-based skill system you're implementing. It's similar to Jagged Alliance 2's character progression, which always felt more natural to me. Exclusive use of character archetypes always seemed too contrived in my opinion. With a use-based skill system, you can still play a Doctor/Sniper/Meatshield if you want to, it's just a matter of what you spend the most time doing.

I played Dead Frontier for a little while but it's so grindey that it became boring very quickly. I know you're drawing on this game as a source of inspiration, so whatever you can do to avoid monotony is a good thing. The suggestions to include occasional "set piece" type encounters is a good one. If co-operative play is an eventual goal, I like the presentation of scenarios that require the use of multiple characters with varying specialties. Specific missions might require the assistance of specialists to succeed (i.e., a mechanic to repair a broken vehicle that is covered in zombies, or an explosives expert to create a diversion to lure zombies away from a food warehouse).

Glad to see you're so open to suggestions and good luck man!

Hey Ion Flux, thanks for your post! I've never played Jagged Alliance I'm gonna check it out.

Dead Frontier is one of the games that inspired me to make my game. I didn't like how you had to hold the 'W' key for days as you walked all the way across the city to where your mission was. This is exactly why we have vehicles in our game.

Thanks for your idea! One thing kind of like that you just made me think of is having a 'team medic' assigning someone in the squad to automatically pick up health packs and heal teammates when they get below a certain health point.. and then having some kind of medical skill-set. We could build off of this into other skill sets.. certainly mechanical like you said considering we're going to have vehicles.

We're excited to be releasing soon. I can't wait to find out what you think!

The original Jagged Alliance is a good game, but JA2 is one of the best games ever. It's a turn-based, squad-based tactical game with strategic and rpg elements.

http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/jagged_alliance_2

The source code is now freely available so the latest community version (v1.13) is modernized in terms of things like supported screen resolutions, added content, etc.

Great game.

Good luck man and I'm looking forward to checking out your demo!

Oh, jake. Not extremely interested in this game (all games of this kind to me are shit until proven otherwise - and I DO hope it proves so) but you gotta be the coolest SEMPER FI that I have seen on the internet. Are you for realsies? All marines I have seen posting had SOMETHING annoying. Conceit, Ignorance, bad grammar, unwarranted jingoism, unbearable "yeah, seen it all, no biggie" attitude, etc.

You do none of it. And post on the Codex. Again, you the real deal?

Mozgoëbstvo, thanks for your kind words! I try to stay humble everywhere I go. Ive found you will be more successful if you just let your actions speak for themselves. If people want to know more about you, they will ask. And when they do, you know you're doing things right.

If ever anyone here has some time, check out an album ive just uploaded. It shows the game how it used to look in the early stages of development and how its progressed into what it is now. It's really cool! Here's the link: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... 769&type=3

Ion Flux! I love the conversation pieces in the game. I also just watched my friend play that skyrim game. Again, really good conversations/ interactions. Should I replicate even a part of that, it could really do wonders for my game.

Thanks gents!

Well whaddya know,

The demo has been out since January. I wonder why we didn't hear of it. Anyway, going to check it out. All I've got to say right now is that the installer needs help. Tries to install VB2008 and DirectX even if you've already got 'em.

PS: VotS, you're a retard. You can give people shit if you like, but have the fucking decency to do it once they've earned it.
