At an E3 showing, attendees got to take the reins of two playable characters in our bloody sequel: The Butcher (An actor wearing a hog mask, starring in an exploitation film about the events of the first game, who is tasked by his director to look into ways to stay "in-character" off the set) and The Fans (A group of copycat killers causing mayhem, obsessed with our protagonist's grisly murders from the first game).

From everything seen and heard: This one's set in the early 90's, so the whole backdrop is gonna be a bit different. There's going to be 20 levels (Could always be an extra or two depending on what they do as well). Perturbator is working on the soundtrack again along with some of the others from the first game, as well as some newcomers. The scoring system and very manic feel of the first game is still there and so far it's set for a "late 2013" release.

We're sorry, you have reached a number that has been disconnected, or is no longer in service.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun have come out with an article on it as well.

The sequel to my favorite game of 2012 with more everything? Fuck yes. :incline:
I hope they get us a nice level editor too.

Yeaaah.

More good shit.

Story will probably be weaker, but if they add some interesting enemies and new mechanics, I'll be happy.

One thing I've seen talked about already is that apparently each member of the The Fans's little gang has a different ability, the Butcher and others might as well. Like in the RPS article they mention Zebra being able to enter levels by crashing in from any windows present or that Tiger's punches are lethal but they can't use guns, stuff like that could be interesting to play around with.

Then on the inclusion of a level editor - “We are working on it. We hope to. Like, of course, everyone is asking us for an editor, so of course we’re trying to do it. We’re seeing if we can make it work – get it usable for normal people,” Wedin explained.

Codex 2012 PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Serpent in the Staglands Dead State Divinity: Original Sin Project: Eternity Wasteland 2 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 BattleTech A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Sounds good so far. But if this is going to be the last game it better include the level editor they were talking about making for free for the 1st one (before they just decided to make it a 2nd game) or I'm going to be pissed.

What about local co-op?

So far I've seen them saying there's no real focus on MP at all. They're "considering" doing something later, like after release later, but at the moment all the focus is on the gameplay and their other big concern is attempting to make an available level editor, which I'd say are probably the best priorities at the moment anyhow.

They wouldn't start with local co-op on a PC game, anyway.

Goddamn, really digging that track in the first scene with The Fans. The musical change really gives the game a new feel.

That ending us fucking insane. Way to go devs.

Probably won't buy this for a while though, too similar to the original which I never finished anyway.

I got the first for free after an Amazon glitch. Enjoyed it. Sort of surprises me Codex is going wild about the sequel. Solid game but nothing I'd jizz my pants over.
